Would you recommend VR?

Slightly off topic... is that Xbox has stated that VR is not on its radar even for the next Xbox and I kinda get that.

I think it is a great novelty that introduces different gaming experiences that you otherwise cannot get but in regards to it being a massive must have then I would say no.

I like my PSVR, mostly, I mean what it does well it does really well, but what it does badly is almost embarassing, some of the low res stuff genuinely hurts the eyes.

If you buy PSVR with the hope that you will get new experiences like climbing mount Everest or landing apollo 11 on the moon then you will love it, its immersive as hell.

At this time, barring a few of the forever mentioned Resident Evil, Farpoint, Skyrim games then it just isn't there... there are not enough full games and they may never come in their hoardes..

Is it all doom and gloom? well no, the more power there is behind PSVR then the better it looks, I would guess PS5 would make PSVR look pretty damn good, that is until of course PSVR2 comes out and it should take a big step up again.

But only the here and now really matters and right now its hazy and fuzzy, here and there, its slightly shiny and a little polished here and there, but ultimately there is ALOT of room for improvement and improve it must.

The depth of quality games are simply not there.  You all trying to list a small smattering of games backs that up.  Not a lot from the “recommend” pile.

Sure, you can find a nice experience here or there but long ways to go or like others have stated here, it quickly goes to being an expensive accessory you won’t use.

That's a fair take on it.  But having too few proper "gaming experiences" isn't the same as having none.  It's past the tech demo stage, whether it's far enough past it... is a more interesting conversation.

EDIT: It's kind of a catch-22.  There's proof that full length games can be made, and made well, using VR.  Developers won't emphasize the development of VR games though, until it's more popular... but it can't get more popular without developers bringing out those full length VR titles.

Very immersive and awesome, waiting till 2020 to pick one up for my pc

Can't wait to travel to space and explore uncharted planets

Also VR isn't just for games, it can used for anything

it does have more uses. education, porn industry since they are a billion dollar industry etc etc

VR can simulate real workspaces for workplace occupational safety and health purposes, educational purposes, and training purposes. It can be used to provide learners with a virtual environment where they can develop their skills without the real-world consequences of failing. It has been used and studied in primary education,[57] military,[58][59] astronaut training,[60][61][62] flight simulators[63], driver training[64] and bridge inspection.[65] Supplementing military training with virtual training environments has been claimed to offer avenues of realism in military[66] and healthcare[67] training while minimizing cost.[68] It also has been claimed to reduce military training costs by minimizing the amounts of ammunition expended during training periods.[66]

Couple of things to consider

1. If you don’t have a PSPro you really should look at getting one for VR the difference is noticeable

2. If you suffer motion sickness IRL it will be magnified in VR, there will be games that will be difficult / unplayable

3. Even though the games are generally cheap they are mostly short so be prepared to drop a few hundred to build your library.

I think VR is amazing tech for sure, it is a shame you don’t know anyone to try it first but if you can afford it I am sure you see some value from it. If nothing else it is also very cool to show friends.

I've had VR for a good week now & the novelty hasn't worn off. There are already so many interesting looking titles I don't see myself shelving it any time soon.

Shorter games shouldn't be an issue with this thing because the other side of the coin is I would like to play Eagle Flight all day long but after a couple of hours it's pretty hard on the old neck. I play standing up too so that also gets a bit old. I would have probably put more hours into it otherwise. It's a full-featured game if I've ever seen one, easily one of the best things I've played on ps4 period & the best air-racing I've ever experienced. It's so good I haven't even redeemed my Job Simulator platinum yet.

It's fine if you don't see the value in VR, or a worthwhile experience.  I do.

I look at it like this, for around $300 USD, I can find a VR set and get a copy of Resident Evil 7.

For around the same amount of money I could go skydiving.  I love the outdoors and hope to one day go skydiving.  I'm willing to spend the money to have that experience.  Likewise, I was willing to spend that amount of money to play the most recent game in one of my most favorite franchises (Resident Evil) in VR.

I've already posted how I feel about that experience (it blew my fucking mind), and I would do it again.

As far as it quickly becoming an accessory you won't use, well, I like that about it.  I'm not ready or willing to give up traditional gaming for VR.  I'm sure no one else is either.  I can play all the games I want to on my PS4 or Switch and when a new VR game comes out that interest me, I can pick it up, play it, and then move on until the next one drops.

With the "small smattering" of games that I've gotten to play on my PSVR, I've more than gotten my moneys worth, and there are more and more games coming out weekly.

THIS! I couldn’t agree more, for me pixel gear was a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to playing mortal blitz
