A third game has indeed been announced making the games a trilogy. The final installement will give light on the giant cliffhanger VLR had aswell as all the loose ends from 999. Junpei, Phi & Luna will be in the 3rd game aswell.

Now the sad part comes...

Due to lack of sales of the previous games in JAPAN, the 3rd game wont be releasing any time soon. Uchikoshi (lead scenario writer and game designer) needs to find funds for before he'll release the game. He wants to release the game but he can't, he needs the help of the fans!

Now, we, the fans were VERY displeased with this news. So we started a facebook group called OPERATION BLUEBIRD. Even Uchikoshi fully supports this initiative.

^ give it a like!

999 & VLR belong in my list of "best games ever" and i'd really be devestated if i'm left at this cliffhanger. I'm sure many fans will agree with me.

I know a facebook group isn't an effective strategy in most cases, but it's for sure the least we can do. We need to show that people will actually BUY the game, so Uchikoshi finds the funds he needs.

This game set a milestone for visual novel games here in the west. I really enjoyed 999 even though I didn't play it. i watched a playhrough of the true ending and I watched all of it. A lot of playthroughs don't keep me hooked until the last part. I did play VLR (courtesy of PS+) and loved it. If they don't make a third game to tie up those loose ends then I will cry.

Just give them time so they can put it on kickstarter...

I was also sad when I read it, but there's always hope. There's no bear that would put us to despair by destroying the possibility of a 3rd game...

And well... in Japan... yea... Japan has huge amount of Escape games (that never made it to the West) so they unfortunately aren't so hyped as we are...

And I don't see Chunsoft omitting Japan... so kickstarter is the only possibility.

UPDATE: http://www.siliconera.com/2014/04/10/zero-escape-director-reveals-hes-working-new-title/

Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward creator Kotaro Uchikoshi recently spoke about the fate of the series and how it might be a while until we see a third game in the series. In this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine, Uchikoshi broke the silence and revealed that he’s actually working on a new game.

Here’s what Uchikoshi had to say on the subject of a possible new game.

“Yes, that’s right. This time, we were able to go through with a project thanks to the help from the folks at Mages. At the moment, we are zealously developing the game. The scenario if already complete, and while this may be my own opinion, I’m very confident in this title!”

YESSSSSS! :D

Actually... that's Uchi's new work... it's 97% nothing related to the Zero Escape.

Well yeah you're right... But then again i had to post it somewhere. Besides for now, i'm just glad Uchikoshi is working on something. And hopefully as nenugalimas said, it will come to the west. If we lack games in one genre it's really visual novels....
