polar_bst
Hey guys so I'm interested in this game but I want to know if it's worth to start playing at this point in it's lifespan. I know it's a complex game but my real concern is if Siege is one of those cases where the game started great and then the devs or the community destroyed it (like Overwatch). Tom146521
Yeah, game is very npc now so you will most likely only enjoy it as a newcomer that doesn’t mind pc culture being shoved into your face + could be fun with friends but if you won’t have anyone to play with it’s an easy pass.
Floorkiller74
Don't do it. The community sucks, no matter what platform you play it on.
Popular Post pikaopas
I just recently returned to the game after not playing it since launch. I would have to disagree with @Floorkiller74 the game is worth trying out. It is very unique as a shooter and playes very different compared to its competitors. The game is much more tactical then most other shooters. It’s much more about holding angels and map knowledge then running and gunning. Because the game is so tactical it is better enjoyed with a full team. It can still be fun to play alone, but I think you would have much more enjoyment if you find a team to play with. When it comes to getting the platinum, the journey is mostly fun, but can be a grind for a few of the trophies. Especially getting gold rank can now be a grind. Of course if you are very good at the game you will get it no problem, but I have used 140+ ranked matches and still I have a bit to go. Currently at silver 2 after a bad losing streak where I was 1 matches away from gold. Good luck if you decide to give it a shoot!

Popular Post Riiszk
No matter what competitive online only game it is (R6S, OW, LoL, CS, Val etc), it'll be toxic. That's how people are. It's not so much games 'turning bad', it's more the player base plays the game long enough and gets better and therefore expects literally everyone else (even newcomers) to know as much as them or be as good as them. Yes, I agree with OW being a better game at the 2016 launch, but Siege is very much different to that. I played at launch for a few months and then started playing again since 2019 and haven't stopped. I can assure you siege has only become better with age (not including the community), though there's still obviously many things needing to be fixed. So to answer your question, the devs are doing good, but the community is as expected.. a pile of shit. As someone already said, the only 'hard' part is getting gold. At first you should play with sensitivity and get used to what you like for the first 10-15 games. I'd advise regular sens to be whatever you like, but ADS to be nothing above 30 on controller. All my different sights/scopes range from 22 to 26 sens with the holo (1x) being at 22 and 2x and 2.5x being 25 and 26 sens. You don't need fast aiming when you're holding angles, just accuracy. Maybe if you're rushing with a 3 speed, yeah, but don't worry about that any time soon. After your aim is good, just learn and focus on what angles to hold on maps and what the standard strategic play is for each bomb sight while on both attack and defence. Watch videos if you need to. 90% of getting to gold is purely map knowledge. You might know the layout of the map, but there's thousands of angles and different plays you can make for each map.
shxrpay
The biggest tip I can give for ranked is to not solo queue, join the R6S discord and find ranked groups in there. There’s always people looking for groups for every rank and I’ve met really chill and good players thru there, I use it pretty much everyday and contrary to what you’ll hear about the community and game in general it’s rare that you find people who are genuinely toxic/not fun to play with. That may just be my experience though, take it with a grain of salt since I’m nowhere near a newcomer to the game. This is moreso true with team based games (ie, success is dependent on team synergy and each person playing roles determines the outcome). Even in casual or pub lobbies, there will alway be someone yelling in your ear. People call Call of Duty toxic, but I don't think they understand the true definition of toxicity when your team killed in R6 or kicked from the game like SOCOM back in the day. Luckily, I completed this game while living in Japan where they were more civil and I couldn't understand what they were saying if they did yell. ? I only suggest playing this game if you like playing somehwat hardcore, tactical shooters...not for the platinum. I haven't played the game in quite awhile, but I do follow it and the devs are pretty active. I don't think the community is the main problem (although it is a problem), it's the learning curve. It'll take hundreds of hours to learn the maps which is key and the skill level. Headshots are 1-hit kills, which can be pretty frustrating...especially if players are using Mouse and Keyboard. You'll die and have no idea what happened. If you're looking for a hardcore shooter with a slightly more tolerable community, I would also suggest Hunt: Showdown. JWill_55
May I ask a question (or maybe a few) I don’t know much about this game but looking to likely boost it with my 8 consoles if possible. how many players does it require to start a game ? I noticed the rank trophies, now I was able to get some of my alts gold or silver tier in street fighter v , so grinding a few alts isn’t a new thing to me, but to get them into ranked matches how many would I need? Or , is matchmaking an issue? This is why I generally boost alone being in Australia and all… wykyk I know this isn’t the right topic for this question , but I too am coming into 2023 looking to get into it at some point soon. You need 10 people to start a game, but I’m not sure boosting would be feasible with the way matchmaking works. You also can’t really just leave a ranked game if you don’t match with yourself as there’s a ban penalty that goes up each time you leave starting from 1 hour. You also need to level up an account to level 50 before it can play ranked which is a pretty decent time sink, so I’d say it’s honestly much faster to just play and learn the game normally and get gold rank naturally. It’s not too bad imo and if worst comes to worst you can find a team who might be willing to carry you in the R6 discord since they removed the MMR gap limit in squads (meaning any rank can queue with each other, e.x. the lowest rank and highest in the game can play together in ranked).

Much appreciated for the detailed response. Sounds fun regardless.
