A New Decade – A New Challenge – Season One

Background

I have been developing this idea for a while and decided that it was about time to release it into the wild with the start of the New Decade. Hope you all enjoy. 

The development and advancement within gaming has been fast and furious with so many games worth playing, but rarely will you get to them and ultimately do them justice. It’s been a bug bear of mine for years that I have games I’ve never been able to do justice and play through.

The crux of any competition though is a level playing field, the better you are & the more you play, the stronger your result should be in comparison to other people. Just because you spam easy platinum’s and trophies doesn’t prove anything. Most importantly though, is to have fun. 

 

Prizes

There will be 2 types of prizes awarded during each season of the competition.

Quarterly Prizes - $ PSN Voucher (Total Value & number of winners will be determined based on a community challenge that will occur during the season - Min $50 & Max $250)

Challenge Prizes – Random Periodic Challenge, Prizes will vary depending on the challenge. 

Prize codes will be provided within 2 weeks of being earnt

 

Rules

• Season 1 will run until the 8/4/2020 12:00pm CET.
• The player enters the competition by nominating their first game to play along with their Gamer ID
• New accounts created to participate will be ineligible for prizes.
• The game nominated must be either never played before or have a starting completion % of <20% in your current trophy list.
• The game selected is eligible and active to earn points until either you earn a trophy in another game or nominate a New Game to play. Once a game becomes inactive points are locked and you cannot go back to it.
• When moving onto a new game you must nominate it for it to become active, switching games will not automatically make the new game active.
• Points for each trophy within a game will be earnt based on a formula taking into account; Rarity (% earnt not bronze, silver etc.), Expected Platinum Difficulty, and overall game Time to Complete.
• Points to be earnt for each new game will be provided after the game has been nominated. Each game has the potential to earn up to 500 points based on the above calculation.
• Using platinum fodder games will result in 0 points earnt for that game.
• If you earn the Platinum & 100% trophy completion (Excluding DLC) the point’s earnt on that game will double (Including any DLC).
• DLC is included automatically for all games as added points, but will not be classed within the 100% metric for doubling of points

 

Direct Head to Head Competition

You can callout another player by nominating the same game as someone already has Active. In this situation the competition becomes a Head to Head battle. If you are the first person to earn that platinum you steal 50% of the other player’s earnt points from that game. If neither player earns the platinum the higher % completion once both players move onto a new game steals 50% of the other player’s earnt points. If a third person picks that game they are classed as a new selection and not included in the original head to head and free for someone else to callout.

 

Challenges

There will be 2 challenges active to start Season 1.

If a challenge is not completed the prize will rollover to the next challenge

 

Challenge 1 – Individual – Deadline 9/2/2020 - Prize = HIDDEN

*HIDDEN CHALLENGE* - This challenge will be revealed after it is completed and earnt by a player. First player to complete wins the prize. 

 

Challenge 2 – Individual – Deadline 9/2/2020 - $20 PSN Voucher

Platinum any 2 of the following games during the competition. Anyone who completes will have a chance to win the prize. 

• Alien Isolation
• Mass Effect: Andromeda
• Valkyria Chronicles
• The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
• Killzone Shadow Fall
• Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time

 

Tracking

Tracking files will be provided after points have started to be earnt.

This sounds pretty cool, I'm in.  As long as games we're using in other events (in my case, the ABC's one) are cool, I'm going to nominate Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, currently at 15%.

Hi All,

 

Points below is based on the total points that can be earnt for the nominated games if starting at 0% and all trophies are achieved.

 

Formula Basically takes the Amount of Time to gain the platinum & Expected Difficulty and applies a point value.

For Example The Legend of Heroes is approx. 3.8 times longer to platinum and 2.4 times harder than Far Cry Primal thus the much higher points rating.

This point value is then factored down to each trophy based on the % of PSN Profiles achieved rates for each trophy compared to the other trophies within that game.
