Yo, I'm still alive in this event. We may be over the midway portion of the year already but I was able to complete a 2nd game for my Tier 1 list. I'm so going in last place in this event, lol. What can I say? I've been having a lot of fun playing retro games lately.

 

Anyway, here it is. Inertial Drift on the PS5. It was an okayish game. It has some issues, though, and it is nowhere near as good as the reviews out there make it out to be but I still managed to eke some good fun out of it. I'll cover it, alongside a few other titles, with a review during the following days.

Honestly the only difficult thing about this game is surviving the crashes, this game ain't optimized at all  Otherwise, a chill game

Since my last post, I finished 3 games for the platinum every genre challenge that are all only ultra rare because of their online trophies. None of them were particularly great, but at least they were short.

 

The main reason for my post is to claim Tevi, which came out a month ago today. The game was unbeatable on release due to a gamebreaking bug and some other trophies were completely broken. These bugs have all finally been fixed as of a couple days ago, so the platinum is fully obtainable now. The game has very few owners which is a shame; I highly recommend it if you enjoy Metroidvanias.

For the first game of Tier 3 is a banger for sure, and is one of my favorite platformers of all time. This is my second coming for this game, and it is crazy knowing where everything is from the first time around and the strategies being used for the plat relics. Overall, it was a such a great game but the platinum can be daunting as hell. The inverted gems were tedious as it got to the half way point, as some levels were abysmal to the naked eye. Some perfect relics were horrible such as Rush Hour, Crash landed and Toxic Tunnels, with Crash Landed taking me about 3-4 hours max. Some plat relics were tough, but following the dev times walkthroughs on the levels made it easier, abusing the slide + spin and triple spin.  I played this game again because I also wanted to finish the Crash series on this account, but also going for a faster time if possible. First time I played this years ago I spent over 100 hours, now I spent less than 70 hours overall for the plat.

Difficulty: 7/10

My last completion of the month: Move Street Cricket.

 

This game is pretty low budget and weird but I had a great time with it and will be writing a trophy guide at some point (as well as doing the same for the sequel!) Probably about a 5/10 difficulty and 12-15 hours to complete, which is perfect for a nice little UR 100%-only list.

 

I don't have a Move controller so I only used the DS3 and it was fine, probably better for some of the very precise actions you need to get through the mini-games on hard mode.

 

Finding this game has actually unlocked an ambition of mine to earn all the cricket trophies out there. There's not too many games to keep track of, all of their trophies are still obtainable, and as far as I can tell no one has done it (several of the games have under 20 people who have completed them). Still a very long way to go but I'm hoping to make some more progress in July!

Finally did a second game this year. A turn based exploration and puzzle game on a grid, sorta.  Hard to describe. The twist in some of the later levels is that some enemies are no longer turn based and instead act in real time while you are still stuck to your turns. There is one really hard trophy for beating the game without taking a single hit, but it is beneficially glitched and will pop the first time you replay a level after beating the game no matter how much damage you take. Aside from that there are collectibles that require you to get them in one go of the level for them to count.

 

Honestly with that beneficial glitch the only reason any of these trophies is ultra rare is because it was a PS+ game in early 2016 so a lot of people tried it out and found like me that it is quite boring. It is a neat concept, and keeps introducing neat mechanics, but ultimately it always stays as just that, neat but not engaging at all. Level design never gets super creative, only a couple of the puzzles had me think twice about them, and the combat is chore. The visuals are very stylish, and are probably the highlight of the game, but even they get in the way as certain areas are difficult to read as a result of the heavy use of overlapping elements.

I can't really recommend this unless you just really want some easy ultra rares. It's not outright bad, but it doesn't do anything that is worth your time.

 

Time to put the physical Vita version on my shelf and never look at it again.

Hi! Just platinumed two games with ultra rare trophies, Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON'T KNOW! (0.87% rarity) and The Bit.Trip (2.84% rarity). 

 

Actually a pretty fun action game with dungeon crawler elements. The game isn't too difficult, but the only reason why the platinum is so rare at 0.87% is because the game has pretty bad freezing issues, which makes playing the game and getting certain trophies really frustrating. It's pretty unfortunate because the game would actually be great otherwise.

 

An assortment of 6 different arcade-like games in one. I enjoyed playing Bit.Trip Runner back on the Wii many years ago, so I wanted to give this a shot and play the other games as well. Overall, the games were fun and a unique experience. The games are pretty tough, but thankfully you can set the difficulty to easy for most of the trophies.

I can check the first game off tier II, MGS2: Sons of Liberty.  VR holdup missions with an M4 were soooo much easier with an actual ps3 dualshock controller.  $30 off ebay was so worth it, as it took me about an hour to clean those up for the platinum.  I'm thinking of making some edits to the other games in tier II, as I just picked up a copy of Dead Rising 2 (on the most wanted list).  From what I can tell there's a decent amount of coop trophies and not a ton of active players.  Anyone interested in tackling that together?
