willmill97
I've only played RE5, and I rather enjoyed it, but I know there's loads of games in the series (especially with trophies) so what's the best order to play them all in?
killerJAZZ420
if your talking just trophies based REs id start go with Zero 1 REmake operation Raccoon city 2 REmake code Veronica X 4 5 6 7 mixing in the rail shooters here and there if you want to. dont care for them personally, they are pretty decent though. REV 1 and 2 are pretty later i guess and Umbrella corp isnt very good and is basically nonexistent so good luck on that 1 Edited January 27, 2019 by killerJAZZ420
XileLerinril
The order you want to play in is Resident Evil 0 Resident Evil Remake 1 Resident Evil 2 Remake Resident Evil 3 Nemisis Resident Evil Code Veronica X Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil Revelations 1 Resident Evil 5 Resident Evil Revelations 2 Resident Evil 6 Resident Evil 7 These are the main line games, and all but 3 can be played on PS4. There is heavy speculation that 3 is going to get Remade like 2 did. You can play 1 and zero in any order. Since 1 came first it gets kinda spoiled by 0. I would recommend playing 1 first, but either way is fine. Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles are cannon, but they take place all over the time line as they have multiple scenarios. Honestly I would recommend you just watch LPs of them. Most of the scenarios are re imaginings of the main games, with some extra stuff here and there. Its good, but not worth a full play through, plus you need motion controls to play them. Resident Evil survivor and Dead Aim were light gun games for the ps1 and ps2. While they are technically cannon they are also completely irrelevant plot wise, and not very good. Resident Evil Outbreak 1 and 2 take place alongside Resident Evil 2 and 3. They have a bunch of characters and scenarios, and it is a little hard to tell what is cannon and what is not. Generally a broad strokes approach is taken, something like the events in those games happened but dont sweat the details. That said they do not have much relevance on the plot. They are for the PS2, but were designed around online play, so its pretty hard to play them now. Operation Raccoon City is not cannon and is total garbage. We try not to talk about it. Same for Umbrella Core. Edited January 27, 2019 by XileLerinril
Neme-ita
Rebirth-0-2-3-CV. Other games are not RE at all. A waste of time and i play all as fan of this series. After CV only tragedy for ME. RE7 is the only very good but look's like a spin off. IMHO
KHDelBoy
I would say go: Resident Evil Remake Resident Evil Zero (technically this is a prequel to RE remake, but I recommend playing that first) RE2 Remake RE3 Nemesis (no trophies support for this yet. It's a PSN game and only can be played on the Vita, PS3, PS1/2.) Code Veronica X RE4 RE5 RE6 RE7 I have to mention that Code Veronica X and RE4 doesn't have a platinum trophy. Both are very good games though. Also the story in RE7 doesn't really link up to the mainline series from what I've played (it's too damn scary in VR.) Also RE6 probably is the easier one to get a platinum (it's the only one I've got from all RE games I've played. I suck at speed runs in survival horror games.) Now I wonder why they didn't do the same for RE4?

Pumpkin Head Cthulhu
make sure you play Resident Evil 2 (even though it does not have trophies) before playing Resident Evil 2 RE-Imagained as they are VASTLY different games. Otherwise the order folks have listed is correct.

crauuecrauue
Start by easing down with Resident Evil 1. Gradually make your way into Resident Evil 2. Turn on Resident Evil 3: Nemesis when you’re ready next. Take a slight detour to play Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Then wiggle yourself back into Resident Evil / aka REmake. When prompted load up Resident Evil Zero. Afterward get comfortable and make room for Resident Evil 4. Let the winds then drift you into Resident Evil 5. Get to the point of Resident Evil Revelations. Strap on in for Resident Evil 6. Make peace with your gods and hoist up Resident Evil Revelations 2. Ensure proper positioning then for Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (not ever known as Resident EVII: Bioha7ard) Finally give in to your baser desire and engage with Resident Evil 2 / REmake 2.
