iriihutoR84
2013: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and I didn't even care much for it (it's funny how the PS3 absolutely annihilated the PS4 in terms of games this year) 2014: Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - some may call it a demo but it's a very tight, strong and memorable experience in a year of forgettable filler IMO 2015: Bloodborne 2016: The Last Guardian 2017: Resident Evil 7 VR 2018: This one is super hard between RDR2, God of War and Astro Bot but I have to go with RDR2 in the end. Three classics this year in my book. 2019: Death Stranding 2020: The Last of Us part II 2021: Resident Evil 8 2022: Elden Ring Edited April 20, 2023 by iriihutoR84

ThroughTheIris56
2013: Knack - Literally the only PS4 game that came out that year that I played. 2014: LittleBigPlanet 3 - I have a bit of bias here because it was the first PS4 game I played. Despite the glitches, I honestly had a great time with it. 2015: Bloodborne - I was very hesitant about getting this game due to the difficulty, but in the end it was absolutely the right decision. This game is legendary, the combat is a blast, and the atmosphere is perfect. 2016: Uncharted 4 - I followed this game since the announcement, and it didn't disappoint. This was when Naughty Dog was in their prime, and they did a fantastic job of bringing Uncharted into the next generation. This felt like the swan song the series really deserved. 2017: The Evil Within 2 - 2017 was a ridiculously competitive year for games, as there were so many good releases. I'm picking TEW2, because it was such a nice surprise. I enjoyed the first game, but it had a lot of room for improvement. I was very happy when the sequel clearly made those improvements, seriously it's so fleshed out and the writing is fantastic. 2018: God of War - On the contrary, 2018 really didn't have many games I was interested in, but new God of War was still great. I'd say for every step forward it takes from the original games, it takes a step back. Saying that, the originals are great so that means the new one is as well, despite the terrible title. I love the idea of a soft reboot though. 2019: Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled - Another tough year for me, but ultimately CTR was just pure fun that I couldn't put down. The original game was a blast, and I don't usually care for remakes, but it was awesome to see this game brought into the modern era. As much as I like Mario Kart, I'll take CTR any time. 2020: Ghost of Tsushima - The final year of the PS4 was a good one, but there could only be one winner. GoT was honestly so much more fun to play than expected. When looking at the gameplay footage, I didn't think the combat would be particularly fun, but I feel like the game really needs to be played to be fully appreciated. Saying that, viewers can still appreciate the absolutely phenomenal scenery and art direction, set in a really interesting and underused historical context. Most importantly for me, it came at just the right time to make up for the disappointment of the TLOU2.
