First we aren't counting just DLC. It has to be the base game that gets done (plat or 100% if no plat)

 

I talked to Grave and we are going to go with no In the Overwatch 2 plat as we view it as auto-popping. It would be different if the trophies that were auto-popped were before the event and then you put effort in to finish the plat (an example would be Fall Guys) but this is the other way around.

Alright, now that my spooky Halloween games are mostly behind me and I'm back from a trip out of town, I finally have another update for this event!

 

ORANGE #1 - Saltsea Chronicles

Finished this right before heading out of town. It's a game that is more about a community of people than it is about individual characters. It's a point-and-click narrative game with a great story. (I'm also working on a trophy and collectible guide, for people who have been curious about the game.)

 

PINK #2 - Killer Frequency 

Played this based on @Breakingthegreen's post in this event which immediately sold me on the game. Had a complete blast playing it, so thanks for bringing the game to my awareness, Breakingthegreen!

No on Classic Racer Elite and Bullseye (both look yellow to me).

 

HOWEVER, for Classic Racer Elite I would consider the top part of the car being pink, so you can use it for that color.

 

We would count Metro Simulator as orange because of the strips.

I also wanted to cash in Patrick's Parabox for pink. It's on the darker side, but to my eye looks pretty close to cerise from the template in the OP, so I think it should be good:

Okay, thank you for the input. I wasn’t sure on Bullseye anyway (especially as the gradient is not the easiest to make out), but yeah I’m glad that the other two will count. Although I might save Metro Simulator for next year if it goes ahead as that one is pretty grindy.

Confirmed on Frog Detective. Google doc should have been updated, and yes the above is pink.

Finally back on this. I went way too long without making progress so my plan of 10 URs is out the window but I do still intend to get 10 games total.

 

Pink #1 - My Friend Peppa Pig

 

It was free with PS+ and took like an hour. I've heard of this show but have never seen it, and was quite surprised to find out it has been airing for nearly 20 years. It wasn't a very engaging game but I feel like as a 30 year old woman I probably was not the target demographic 🙃

 

Pink #2 - Unpacking

 

This was definitely a game made more for my demographic, I think it was a wonderfully creative idea and definitely made me reflect on my own life while playing. The gameplay does wear a bit thin by the end but I think it's worth playing.

 

Orange #2 - Air Conflicts: Vietnam

 

I didn't realise that I platted this on Remembrance Day until just now. Nice! The game is basically split into 3 parts: flying in a jet (decent enough), flying in a helicopter (bad, and also most of the game), and being the door gunner on a helicopter (comically bad but not too frequent). It is very ugly and features an unbelievably bad soundtrack of generic rock music. It's ultra rare because of a 6-person trophy in the multiplayer but is otherwise extremely easy and quick. The game actually tries some sort of weird story; as with most Vietnam War stories you play as the villains, but the game tries to subvert this a bit by having you participate in chemical warfare, terror campaigns against the civilian population, and the bombing of a neutral country. I think it's trying to point out that you are in fact the villain, similar to Spec Ops: The Line, but the writing is too unsophisticated to give it any punch, plus the awful graphics and lack of cutscenes mean that there isn't a lot of weight behind it, beyond what you can imagine for yourself.

Classic Racers Elite - Pink
 

 

 

This is one of the most “PS3 style” racing games on PS4 I’ve played. I don’t know if that makes sense but the handling, visuals, etc, just made me think this is a niche PS3 racing game but no, this PS4 game came out a couple of years ago. It’s somewhat nostalgic in a way and pretty fun. Oh and 2nd fastest completion time on the site, so yay. (1 hour 57 minutes)

ORANGE #2 - Call of the Sea

 

I went into this mystery adventure game almost completely blind, and actually really enjoyed the experience! The premise is that protagonist Norah is searching for her husband's missing expedition on a remote tropical island. A few others have played it for this event, and it's available on the PS+ Catalog on the Extra Tier.

It's a fun and easy platinum, spent most of my free time over the weekend on it. I was not even sure what this game would end up being, I was pleasantly surprised.

Grindstone is a reasonably fun puzzler, but a bit repetitive. Definitely could have been about 10 hours shorter haha.

Hello again friends, I have completed a game that I had planned to do for the Animal event earlier this summer but ended up coming getting sidelined thanks to an RPG which ate into my life. But that's all in the past and I've got to play it for orange (I don't know why it counts as orange but I don't argue with the spreadsheet), it's Endling: Extinction is Forever (PS5).

 

 

This was a PS Plus game that you have no doubt at least considered giving a go if you hadn't bought it already and I do recommend it, even if it has a tonne of flaws that I couldn't help but notice.

 

To start positively, this game has great environmental storytelling, while on the surface the game is about surviving as the fox family or possibly the Scavenger antagonist that you have encounters with, the story is much more about how nature itself is in danger and this becomes more and more evident as trees and bushes that acted as cover disappear and food becomes a rarity. This message isn't exactly subtle, you could probably tell by the game's subtitle what that game wants to get across.

 

The game also is effectively tense, where you have only about 5 minutes each night to complete any tasks that you want to do, and the fact that you're never actually forced to do anything causes every action feel like more of a risk, were you could be cornered by a human or lose a cub to a predator.

 

But there is equally two major issues I had with the game, the difficulty and the length. Length wise there 30 five minute long nights and you can cut those short any night that you want. I would have been annoyed if I had bought it for the £25 this is currently going for.

 

The game is also super easy, it had become apparent while I was playing that none of my cubs would die, and they only got close when I didn't spot an owl and it attacked a cub. The main thing to keep your cubs safe is to find food and with your smelling abilities, this is rarely an issue and food was never a concern (except for using the guide for the Omnivore trophy.) 

 

Don't get me wrong I think the pros outweigh the cons and I think you should give it a go. It's certainly a better fox game than Spirit of the North.

Thanks! And honestly, I'm not 100% sure! I *think* the platinum can be done in around 15 hours if one is following a guide (and I plan to have that completed before the end of this month). 

 

It requires almost 3 full playthroughs, and then two or three specific chapters through Chapter Select after that (so long as you made new saves for each full playthrough). It took me around 30 hours to get the platinum, but that was because (a) I spent a lot of time taking down notes for collectible locations as I was playing, and (b) some trophy descriptions are pretty vague - I had to replay the story several extra times trying to figure out what combination of things are needed (and only sometimes being successful 😂).

 

If you do end up starting the game before the end of the month, I'd be happy to share via DM the few trophies I found especially difficult to figure out.

Ooof, I almost thought about playing Spirit of the North from my backlog for this event, but might save it for Gaming for the Animals Round 3 next year. Sad to hear that it probably isn't a great fox game, but at least I can temper my expectations now.

I can't speak for current plans of Animals event, but @MissShake did mention that next years event would be differently themed (And if I recall correctly Spirit of the North wouldn't count towards it if the plans haven't changed since I last heard, so you may wanna play Spirit for this event.
