Down The Rabbit (Alphabet) Hole: A-Z

Hello all! I am creating my very first trophy checklist! In the A-Z Format! I usually trophy hunt just whatever I want to, but I decided to make a checklist to supplement my streaming hobby so I can give regular updates, thoughts, feelings, etc. I will give my initial hopes/expectations but be warned this will probably go well past a year as I will only have limited time to go through these. Not all of these games will be new, some of these will be straight out of the incomplete portion of my profile!

 

Rules: I must finish each letter with a platinum and 100% before moving onto the next the only caveat is if DLC is released after we moved from that letter. 

 

Note: None of these titles are being played on a PS3. Updates will occur weekly. If you want to follow the video journey, it's in my profile.

 

26 Games Up, 26 Games Down. Below is the list! Starting October 5th, so follow along on here you want to get regular updates. 

 

A- Assassin's Creed Mirage - COMPLETED ~ 24hrs

• I really want this game to be good, since the trophy list already leaked I don't think it will be too difficult. I am just really really looking forward to going back to a more linear game that the original AC games did so well with and with more interesting environments. Basim is already really likeable so I am hoping I can give this a high score.
• Early Rating: 7/10
• UPDATE 1: So far its really good (13h in), the parkour is fresh and exciting, Basim is really likeable and the setting is one of the best in the series. That said combat is a bit rough, and some plot points are pretty cliche and easy to spot what is going to happen next. Smaller map that does not feel too overwhelming, even though typical fashion got collectibles packed in. 
• FINAL UPDATE: I think I have thought enough about the game to fully flesh out my rating. The combat is downright horrendous, and I don't know if that is purposeful to force stealth or that its just bad. Stealth is fun, but oftentimes you will still get in combat as I don't think the guards are spread out enough/have good patterns to go full stealth. I understand the notoriety system but I absolutely hated it. The story was good until the ending, and to be quite honest the whole modern day story with Layla and now Basim (Valhalla ending) is beyond confusing but this shows you why he found Eivor/Sigurd. A lot of times this felt like a detective game than an AC game. However the setting is beautifully done and the characters around are rather interesting and have personality. Parkour was very smooth but still had some quirks/bugs from older AC games when it came to parkour. 
• Final Rating: 7.5/10

 

B - Bramble Mountain King - COMPLETED  ~ 10hrs

• Saw this unique title while surfing on YouTube and it looks really interesting and dark. Never heard of the developers, but I do think it reminds me of little nightmares a bit, which I hear is a good thing as those are highly praised. One of my favorite genres are survival/horror so I am really open to playing this first playthrough potentially blind.
• Early Rating: 8/10
• UPDATE: This game is unlike anything I have ever played before in both a good and bad way. I believe this is the first game from this developer and it was interesting enough and something I was completely unfamiliar with which is refreshing in today's world. It is rather short but the impact is quite large. It made me  uncomfortable and nauseous at times. I thought Evil Within was gory but this is a whole other level. Be warned that is has dead babies, and lots of people hanging etc. But I would say this game left an impression on me, albeit it was disturbing.
• Final Rating: 6/10

 

C - Celeste

• Heard absolutely nothing but amazing things from this game, I love platformers and this looks challenging although I must admit I am probably going to be using the assist mode. That is unless someone redeems the difficulty for this game, and chooses to have me do it the more legitimate way. However, I am not opposed to a grueling challenge as I have done Crash 4 twice which I thoroughly enjoyed.
• Early Rating: 9.5/10

 

D - Dead Island 2

• The decade long wait is finally over! I have been looking forward to this game since Riptide and even more so since the teaser! I have both of Sam Bs hit songs on my playlist, and I cannot wait to encounter him again in this world! I am a bit biased on this game as I don't need a spectacular story just gory zombie killing fun!! I truly never thought this game would come to fruition. I also may be getting my hopes up far to much.
• Early Rating: 9/10

 

E- Elden Ring

• As someone who has Platinumed a fair few of FromSoftwares titles I am looking forward to this, the one thing I am really concerned with is the overwhelming size of the  game, this is going to a big checklist blocker. However, open mind I really want to bag this for my cabinet. The world looks full, detailed, and the bosses looks quite difficult, can't wait to increase my skill with this one.
• Early Rating: 8.5/10

 

F - (Fallout Shelter/FF7 Remake/Feist/Forspoken)

• This is a letter my community gets to choose which game. I am torn between the choices as two of them are on my backlog. If I had to choose I would want FF7 Remake as the world is cool but honestly I have tried twice to platinum it and stopped both times. I am starting to think FF isn't for me. I want to love it but just haven't been able to get there. 
• Early Rating: 2-7/10

 

G - Gollum

• Not sure if a description is necessary. However, one of the worst games of all time and so bad the developers quit making games? Then sign me up, I can get some quality entertainment value out of this game. Looking forward to playing this game and laughing at it so much I develop a six pack.
• Early Rating: 1/10

 

H - (Hot Wheels Unleashed/Hades/Hello Neighbor/House Flipper)

• Another community choice game, and I am not upset at any of these choices at all. I think I am most hoping for Hello Neighbor as it has always looked really interesting to me and they seem to do well and be well received for what they are. Hades will make me the most miserable as I am not great at it.
• Early Rating: 4-7.5/10

 

I - Inscryption

• Have no knowledge of this game other than it looks like puzzle/horror. Really interested in playing this as I love mental challenges/puzzles and hopefully I can make sense of it. I have heard decent things from people who have played it, so I added to the list. The title alone makes me want to play it as its very attention grabbing at least for me.
• Early Rating: 7.5/10

 

J - John Wick Hex

• Bought this game as I had never seen it before and I don't know anyone that's played it. It has a low platinum percentage but I don't know if that is cause of difficulty or due to lack of players. I guess we will find out but the mechanics look very fun and I haven't played a game like this before and I am all for new experiences in the gaming space.
• Early Rating: 7.25/10

 

K - Kingdoms of Amalur Re-Reckoning

• Seen this game long ago and when it was free for PS Plus well that was enough to entice me to add it to the backlog. Looks like a good RPG with above average ratings. I only hope the system isn't too deep with the RPG elements as I struggle with those (looking at you Witcher 3).
• Early Rating: 6.5/10

 

L - Lies of P

• Been looking forward to this since it was announced as well. Even played the demo which I don't like to do but it was great! Pinocchio was always a bit weird of a story so the aesthetic for this game looks wonderful and I think it will mesh really well. I truly hope they make more games like this but perhaps with other characters.
• Early Rating: 9.5/10

 

M - (Mirrors Edge Catalyst/Maneater/Meet Your Maker/Mortal Shell)

• If any of these games excites me it'll be meet your maker just because I haven't played anything like it. Sure it may not be for me in the end but I would at least like to try this one out. The other runner up is ME Catalyst as I played the first (no platinum) and would like to close out the story, thankfully it was removed from the online shutdown list.
• Early Rating: 3-7/10

 

N - Nier Automata

• I fear this one might end up like FF7 for me in the sense that I want to love it and it has such a giant following with amazing reviews but it just isn't for me. This one was recommended to me by a close friend and I will say the combat at least looks pretty fun and better than FF7, which helps me curb my fears. This is probably one that I am most nervous to start.
• Early Rating: 8/10

 

O - Outlast 2

• This game has everything for me. Horror, survival, pretty rare platinum. I would view this as a proud platinum in my cabinet. What worries me the most is if I can keep my emotions in check and not faint or scream too much. Really excited for this one.
• Early Rating: 8.5/10

 

P - (Prey/Prince of Persia/Powerwash Simulator/Pac Man World Re Pac)

• Out of the options available I wouldn't mind a relaxing simulator at this point in the checklist. However, the new Prince of Persia game does look fun and refreshing even if it wasn't quite what I wanted (looking at the botched remake). Then again Pac Man is always some silly fun. The one blocker here is Prey, three playthroughs and its been on the backlog for years, but the story was good from what I remember. 
• Early Rating: 3-7/10

 

Q - QUBE 10th Anniversary

• A puzzle game and nothing more, that sounds quite alright to me. I also chose this as there isn't a ton of option at this letter. Haven't even looked at the gameplay so it could be harder than anticipated but either way a great break from the deep slog of games on this list.
• Early Rating: 4/10

 

R - Returnal

• This one has always intrigued me but it was never the right price for me. I have heard this can be a bit mentally frustrating but I am looking forward to the challenge as it looks a ton of fun to play. Rougelites I haven't been able to master quite yet, so this depends how well everything really clicks for me and if RNGesus shows mercy.
• Early Rating: 7.75/10

 

S - (Sonic Frontiers/South Park Stick of Truth/Sifu/Slay The Spire)

• If I had to pick it would be Sifu as the combat looks fun but also challenging (easy mode?) but I am just hoping to the heavens it isn't Slay the Spire that gameplay is rather unique and fun but it hasn't clicked for me yet to be able to platinum them. Not a big Sonic fan but I would be certainly open to doing this one.
• Early Rating: 4-9/10

 

T - This War of Mine: The Little Ones

• Another one that will be a personal challenge for me as a lot of the trophies don't make sense to me. I also didn't play it very long but I earned trophies so now I have to clean it up. Again another game that isn't quite like anything I have played previously.
• Early Rating: 6/10

 

U -Untitled Goose Game

• My wife picked this game as she is a major troll (like me) and knew this choice would get under my skin. Well played, I still don't think this game was deserving of a GoTY award but I will now find out first hand if that holds true. I know its Geese and puzzles,  that's about it. 
• Early Rating: 3/10

 

V - Vanquish

• Not many choices here at this letter either, so I went with the most interesting sounding game to me. Know nothing about it other than the platinum is obtainable. Curious what is going to happen here, highly intrigued and slightly worried.
• Early Rating: 6.5/10

 

W - (Wo Long Dynasty/We Happy Few/Watch Dogs 3/Wytchwood)

• All of these choices would be okay with me. Played about 20 hours of We Happy Few and it was creepy but really interesting would love to give it a try again. Wo Long I would love to play as well and it looks to be another stellar game from Team Ninja. I think the worst among this group is Watch Dogs 3 as it was on sale quite quickly after launch.
• Early Rating: 3-8/10

 

X -Xuan Yuan 7

• Again not a ton of choices here so I chose this really at random. I looked at like 5 minutes of gameplay and it looks very meh. Not sure if this will be a tough one to get through.
• Early Rating: 3/10

 

Y - Ys Origin

• Nearing the end of the line with another not alot of choices letter. It sounds interesting but that's all I can say with this one at the moment. 
• Early Rating: 3/10

 

Z - Zombie Driver Immortal Edition

• Bloody good zombie fun?! Okay lets play it. Not expecting much other than running over zombies over and over again. It could be very mind numbing and I am not hoping it is at least enjoyable. With this being the last letter, I am probably going to be burned out.
• Early Rating: 4/10

Well, the hair loss is inevitable. It is what it is. Nothing wrong with it nor should it be judged. Trust I get it, same boat. As for the games, that can really fluctuate up or down. I hope Gollum turns out better than what reviews say. That is the one I am most interested in finding out about as I really wanted before I heard the same as you. I am too far behind in the AC storyline to look into Mirage but I will look for your opinion on it as well. I also got Kingdoms of Amalur on my backlog and will be starting Wo Long this upcoming weekend, I hope. Lol. It's great to see some game overlap. The idea alone is worth coming back to check on your progress, but I look forward to talking to you about some of these games and others who comment.

Absolutely! Gollum will be interesting I think at the very least! Can’t wait to chat with you on these.

Good luck on that Y's Origins. I dropped it at the Nightmare runs, maybe you can convince me to give it another go. I thought Celceta and Dana were pretty easy to plat, haven't played Nox yet.

If your referring to just beating Nightmare, the only piece of advice I'd give is to grind 1-2, maybe even 3 levels every boss fight. It doesn't take more then 30-45mins to earn 3 levels. It may not seem like much but it can make a world of diffence.

For the boss rush just use Hugo and always use the green power at max charge with your shied up. That way you can take 2hits before it breaks.

It's not too bad man, a 7/10 and probably on par with Vanquish or Furi tbh. You'll play tru it so much that by your 2 Nightmare run everything should just "click".

A-Z Platinum Club - Using the first letter from a game's title, collect a Platinum Trophy for each letter of the alphabet. There are also two additional categories. 

 

A-Z Platinum Title Trophy Club - Using the first letter from the Platinum's title, collect a Platinum Trophy for each letter of the alphabet. There are also three additional categories as well as a tracker for those who fill slots with Ultra Rare Platinums.

 

Both are fun, different ways to trophy hunt, provide incentive/support to clear backlogs and can challenge you to play games you may not.

I too started an alphabet challenge. I'm doing them in reverse order Z-A so when I'm done the games will appear in abc order on last played. I am playing multiple things at once though but stop at a certain point if the game I'm playing is not the next letter. Helps me stay interested and not get too terribly frustrated! I'm looking forward to seeing how yours turns out!! I was going to post about it once I finished.

For Celeste, I'd reccomend playing it legit for as long as you can. Then turning on assist mode when you get to thr point when it gets too difficult for you to progress. That way there's still a challenge, but you'll actually be able to finish it 😝

 

As for F, may I suggest the original Final Fantasy VII? It's been ported to PS4 with a trophy list. You say you're not really vibing with the remake, so maybe you can try playing the classic?

 

Good luck with Gollum. It's not even bad in the way that it's funny, it's just boring and frustratingly janky. And it's a gd tragedy, as Daedalic made the best point-and-click games.

 

For H, I vote for Hello Neighbour. I think it's a bad game, but unlike Gollum, it's bad in a funny way.

 

For M, I vote for Mirrors Edge Catalyst. I haven't played it myself, but I think its your best choice out of the opinions, as you've already finished and enjoyed its predecessor.

 

I love Powerwash Simulator l, but it's definitely for a certain personality type. You will have to actually find enjoyment in the repetitive cleaning process to enjoy the game, otherwise you’re in for 50-60 hours of pure boredom. Watch some gameplay video to see if you're up for it. Otherwise go for Prince of Persia.

 

For S, I vote for Sifu. I enjoyed the South Park games, but they have very crude humor and aren't for everybody. I can't recommend Stick of Truth without knowing if it would be compatible with you.

 

For W, I vote for Wo Long Dynasty. Wytchwood looks good, but is a short game. And Watch Dogs: Legion is very divisive. I really liked how you can play as any NPC, but that seemed to turn a lot of people off. Idk, I found this cool punk girl street artist that I played as mostly, so it was like she was my protagonist. But I can understand if you're constantly changing characters it's hard to connect with them and the story.

 

Overall, this looks like a great idea for your trophy hunting. I wish you the best of luck getting through it! 🫶
