Framewraith
I just got my PS4 with TLOU Remastered and as soon as I put the disc in the fans go really loud which you can hear in the video I posted. The air on the back is hot too.I also provided a picture of the distance between my PS4 and the wall so you'll judge if it is okay. There is another picture which shows the disc tray (or whatever it's called) and the USB's. You can't clearly see it, but my disc tray is a little curved on the right side and the USB's seem somewhat damaged. Is it normal?Thank you very much! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPuwseKaZtA IMAGES: http://tinypic.com/r/sxiqkp/8 http://tinypic.com/r/2pta1ie/
Fastandslow
Mine does that as well iv been trying to find out why but its dont seem to harm it tho so i wouldn't worry i guess
DEMON
I don't think you should worry, I just had a closer look at mines and the disc tray of that also has a curve on the right side so that's just the design.. the console is fine though. The PS4 is a little bit loud with disc games anyways.. at least until you have played them for a bit.. it does quiet down eventually.
Saltyie
It does this with mine, but only with the Last Of Us Remastered. I've had it one for atleast 6 hours once and nothing happened so Id say don't worry. Just make sure the back is well ventilated, and you're not playing in a sauna. Goro
Try playing a DVD, then you'll know what loud is.
smokey-smokerson
I've found this happens with mine on occasions. What I have noticed though it that it's more prominent when there's background downloads ect going on, and in some cases, automatic game updates that I'm not even aware are downloading. Carville87
Try playing a DVD, then you'll know what loud is. You can barely hear the tv when a DVD is playing
Malfuras
Mine was very loud when playing The Last of Us Remastered but only the first time. It's been fine since. There were some very worrying noises when installing the game from disc too.
SoIidWoIf
Give him a copy of The Last of Us Remastered to shut them up, seriously some fanboys.
Rubieno
It's probably not the fan, just the Hard Drive spinning because the game is installing in the background
xVolloxx
Don't worry about it , The Last Of Us Remastered it also makes my fan loud at the beginning and then it cools down , also the heat from the fans at the back are hot i agree , i have mine beside a wall and the wall is always warm , i wouldn't worry about it . Framewraith
Thanks everyone! I just finished Left Behind and I played it for like 1 hour and 30 minutes straight and sometimes it got loud and sometimes really quiet (mostly during cutscenes). So as long as nothing odd happens to my PS4, I'm set I guess.
Nihiris-
The PS4 is just a loud system unfortunately. Depends on the game obviously, but the fans can really ramp up from time to time.
Nelson_
Want power you also want cooling power lolz however PS4 just doesn't have enough space so the reason for more extra noise. (we have seen gaming desktops being less noisy so problem is realy space lol) Conclusion its normal for PS4 fans to be loud, also i believe the heatsink of PS4 is similar to laptops: It has been revealed that the PS4 is quieter when horizontal. This means there's something less efficient about the cooling when the PS4 is vertical. I believe the issue is related to heatpipe orientation, not airflow as some people are speculating. SheruKusanagi
The thermal paste is probably to blame. Anyway since I gave my PS4 more room, its a little bit better now. Edited February 2, 2015 by Shinichi-Kun2
