Popular Post Lady Lilith
http://www.pushsquare.com/news/2014/10/guide_cant_turn_on_your_ps4_from_rest_mode_heres_how_to_fix_firmware_update_200_issue While we appreciate that we’re probably jinxing things by writing this, PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.00 appears to have launched without too many setbacks. Bricked consoles are always a concern with enormous operating system overhauls like this one, but the system software refresh seems to have deployed with only the most minor of issues. Sadly, there is one symptom that appears to be affecting a large number of people, and it pertains to the recently renamed Rest Mode, which was formerly dubbed Standby Mode. This essentially allows you to put your console into an almost idle state, which will save power but still ensure that any patches or updates download while you’re not using your device. At the time of typing, a slew of people are pointing out that once they’ve put their system into Rest Mode, they’re finding it difficult to power the platform back up. We haven’t experienced this issue ourselves, but the problem does appear to be widespread enough to be worth writing about. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution. 1. Turn off the system First, you’re going to need to force your PS4 to turn off. Hold down the power button on the front of the PS4, and wait for it to shut down. When the orange light on the top of your console has disappeared fully, unplug your system, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. 2. Enter safe mode With your PS4 plugged back in, push the power button again and hold it down. You should hear two beeps: one almost instantly, and another after about seven or so seconds. Do not let go of the power button until you’ve heard the second beep. 3. Connect your DualShock 4 Plug your DualShock 4 into the console using the provided USB cable, and press the PlayStation button on the front of the peripheral to pair it with the platform. 4. Reinstall system software You should now find yourself in the Safe Mode screen. Be very careful what you do here, as you could reformat your console if you select the wrong option. You’re going to want option three, which is labelled ‘Update System Software’. This will reinstall PS4 firmware update v2.00, which should solve your problem for now. This actually happened to me when I let my PS4 go into standby mode while watching a Halloween stream. When it was over and I tried to resume playing Costume Quest 2, I was quite panicked when it wouldn't turn back on. After some looking around, I found this guide, followed the steps, and within about 5 minutes my PS4 was up and running again, with everything intact. Make sure you choose to update it rather than format it in the safe mode menu. Figured I couldn't be the only one this affected, so I decided to post this. Happy gaming!
Masamune
Wow, I'm glad I rarely use Rest Mode, I usually just power it off completely since the start-up time seems to be almost the same. Although I did use it a few days ago, just to charge my controllers.
Naoto Shirogane
I really wished if this was posted yesterday. Accidently put my PS4 into rest mode instead of turning it off. I made an idiot move and removed the power plug from my PS4.
richtayls
Thank you so much for posting this, I've had to pull the plug 4 times since the update (first 2 for putting into rest mode before realising that's what the problem was, then once when I turned off the TV so the PS4 put itself into rest mode, and once when I was downloading something when I turned it off so again it put itself into rest mode). Since following the above instructions I've successfully tested putting it into rest mode three times and all is working :o)
ruffedgz
This is awesome, had this happen to me but was lucky that I was able to get it back after unplugging it. Will keep this post for future problems.
Lady Lilith
I think there's also an option in the Power Save settings to completely disable your PS4 from going into Standby.
skateak
Weird. I have been using Rest Mode since 2.0 and my PS4 has always booted up. I rarely fully power it down.

tartandon
I've re-installed the firmware, but it hasn't made any difference. The blinking orange light comes back. The official PlayStation twitter account has tweeted to say that they are aware of the issues with Rest mode. For the time being, it is best to avoid it and just power off the unit completely. EternalChaos72
Well that's odd my PS4 goes into rest mode all the time and i never have this happen me. :/
Time4Tiddy
It didn't affect everyone, but for those it did, re-installing the update is only a potential solution. I've had the issue three times now. I re-installed the update both times and had it work for a few days, then refuse to power up from rest again after the fourth or fifth time. I'm just avoiding rest mode until they patch, now.

eliteshooter009
my ps4 seems fine now after 2.01 , fingers crossed it doesn't come back! Also my ps4 fan seems to be more quiet after playing for a few hours compared to before the update you could hear it clearly spinning for a distance. ruffedgz
Was having the issues with 2.00 so did the steps above anyway to get 2.01. I can confirm that the update did complete and "rest mode" does NOT have the same problems as before. Able to use the feature just fine for now
