Popular Post RiverBeaver
I wanted to share this article here that I just read in the national newpaper. They where also writing about this. Too bad he could not keep the game though. Original article can be found here (in Dutch): Link hereArticle translate by Google Translate to English:Rockstar Netherlands fulfills last wish sick gamer and shows Red Dead Redemption 2By Peter Bouwman - on 8 October 2018 at 9:00As the owner of Gamersnet you do not often stop to think about the many people who follow us through our website and social media. Yet behind every nickname and behind every profile there is a real life with a real story. Sometimes these stories are so intense that you not only get silent, but also proud. Proud that someone wants to share something with us that seems small but big in gesture. We became quiet when Jurian approached us via our Facebook page. He suffers from Neurofibromatosis type 2, a hereditary disease in which approximately 400 people suffer in the Netherlands. He has finished fighting and is in the final phase of his life. As a big fan of Red Dead Redemption 2 he really wanted to see and play the game. Then his father Harm decided to contact Rockstar.Jurian tells:"Unfortunately, I am in the last weeks of my life. I am finished. Since 2004 I have been fighting a chronic rare disease called Neurofibromatosis Type 2. Where there are many "benign" tumors in my body. I survived for a long time, but I've had enough of it now.As I was waiting in suspense for Red Dead Redemption 2, my father got in touch with the publisher, if they had a copy earlier as an exception. Rockstar Netherlands wanted to give it but they were not allowed to, so they had contact with the head office, who quickly arranged something beautiful for me. At the end of the week, two employees of Rockstar Nederland came to my house and gave me a private demonstration of the game. After an afternoon of playing, they unfortunately took the game again.Since I recently read an article about a similar case with Nintendo, I wanted to tell you. Since Rockstar has also done something beautiful. "Within each company, no matter how big or small, beautiful people who make this kind of thing work and we are proud that Jurian wanted to share this with us and that Rockstar made this possible. We wish Jurian and his family all the strength in the coming period and as many beautiful moments as possible. Yuukiyun
Such a nice thing to do, especially considering a big company like Rockstar could easily have ignored this request.
MosesRockefeller
Good for Rockstar. Man, what a tease though to only get to play it for a few hours (which is understandable, since Rockstar wouldn't want to risk it leaking out early).
Bloodytears1666
It's so sad story, even if they will give him a copy for this week, nothing they can change. But this move by Rockstar is strongly good one. Hope this guy will have the best eternal dreams in a wild wild west and hasn't been disappointed by the game. Omirid
So sad but beautiful at the same time. Good on Rockstar for fulfilling his final wish. It just sucks we won't ever see Jurian in game in the future. Best wishes to him and his family though as he begins his last phase. Something so simple which impacts so many and just goes to show how much of a genuine company Rockstar can be, I bet you wouldn't see this type of support and kindness from EA or Konami lol. Dragon-Archon
Oh wow, this is such a nice gesture from Rockstar. 6 hours ago, Omirid said: So sad but beautiful at the same time. Who knows, Rockstar might add him as an NPC in the game, similar to how Gearbox added Michael Mamaril as an NPC in Borderlands 2.
FawltyPowers
An amazing gesture from Rockstar that deserves respect. Living with a progressive disease for 14 years is beyond difficult to imagine, I hope the game was everything he hoped it would be. And yes as @Dragon-Archon said, it would be fitting if he was added as an NPC in the game in the future. I think that would move a lot of people and be forever remembered. Come to think of it, that would be the most coolest way for Rockstar to honor his legacy. I'd love for Jurian to be an NPC who has a quest story line or something, that would be sweet. starcrunch061
That's too bad. It looks like a pretty lousy existence once it gets going. The average age of death is 36, but can be prolonged with treatment. However, people with the disease lose their hearing, develop cataracts, and often have tumors pressing against their brain. Good that he got his last wish.
