Popular Post Yuber6969
Now that I have more experience with the genre, I decided to re-rate the games I've completed as I feel like I ranked a few of them too high. One thing to note is that I am a firm believer in platinum difficulty = difficulty of the hardest trophy. If the game has an 8/10 trophy, and the rest of the trophies average around 4, I will still rate the game 8/10. After all, you can't get the platinum without getting all trophies, including the most difficult one(s). I'll list the games from hardest to easiest. BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend - 8/10 The hardest trophy in the game, and in this entire challenge so far, was the one for completing 100% of one character's combo challenges. Iron Tager had the easiest challenges (comparatively). Most of them were pretty easy, one was pretty tough, and then there was the brutal one - Challenge 19. That challenge alone is the reason for the 8/10 difficulty. It took me about 10 hours worth of attempts. It required extremely fast inputs at certain points, and very precise ones at other points. BlazBlue: Chronophantasma (vanilla) - 8/10 There were actually a number of difficult trophies in this game, but the hardest one by far was the one that requires you to clear Highlander Assault with every character. You fight the series' infamous Black Beast in a game mode that plays more like a Mega Man X game than a fighter. This means that most prior knowledge that I had about BlazBlue mechanics was worthless here. He has attacks that can take out half of your health bar, while you can do very little damage to him. Once you've fought him enough times and memorized his patterns, it's not that bad until you have to fight him using Bullet. All of Bullet's distortion drives are grapples, which the beast is immune to. Also, she can't run, and the beast has an attack that is very hard to dodge without running. Battle Fantasia - 8/10 (with the pause cheese method) Some of you are probably surprised that I didn't list this as the hardest game on the list. I probably would have without the pause cheese method, which drastically reduces the difficulty of the trophy for beating the Deathbringer without taking any damage. That includes chip damage, so you must parry rather than block all of this attacks. The pause cheese method makes it so that you don't have to worry as much about parrying his super, but parrying all of his other attacks was still pretty difficult. BlazBlue: Centralfiction - 7/10 Speed Star is the reason for this difficulty rating. You have to fight several brutally tough AI opponents in a row (32 IIRC) and you have to do it extremely fast. The amount of time you're given is extremely limited, and one long fight will most likely cost you your run. The AI are assholes in this one, because they go out of their way to do very long combos that chain into distortion drives in order to eat up more of your time. Persona 4: Arena Ultimax - 7/10 I feel like the difficulty of this game is overrated by Persona fans and underrated by Arcsys fans. I fall into both categories so maybe my rating will be helpful to people that are considering the game. The hardest trophy in this game is for doing 100% of one character's combo challenges. Margaret has the easiest (and most useful) challenges in the game, but there are a couple that are pretty tricky. She has one challenge that required very precise timing (I forget which one), and a couple that required you to input the same super command twice in a row very quickly. Inputting that super twice in a row is extremely difficult to master, but once you get it down, Margaret is an absolute monster in combat. Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe - 7/10 Survival Mode is the reason for this difficulty rating. You have to fight 30 opponents in a row, and only recover a fraction of your health between fights. Every third fight is a "boss fight" with tougher AI. The AI gets really intense in the last few fights, and the AI is broken with certain characters. If you have to fight Rui or Hermes in one of the later stages, you're screwed. Arcana Heart 3 LOVE MAX!!!!! - 6/10 I feel silly every time I have to write this title with all those caps and exclamation marks Please keep in mind that I played this game on the Vita rather than the PS3. Playing a fighter on a Vita will always add to the difficulty. There is a trophy for completing all trials in Trial Mode. Trial Mode tasks you with winning the fight under certain conditions such as only being able to do damage with jump attacks. A couple of these were very hard for me to do. The hardest one was for doing an 11-hit combo (IIRC). 11 sounds easy but the combo system in this game is bare-bones. Nurarihyon no Mago: Hyakki Ryouran Taisen - 6/10 There is a trophy for completing all missions, which is the same concept as Trial Mode that I mentioned above. Most of them are easy, but there are some that were very difficult. The two that stand out to me from memory are one that requires you to destroy all of the shima (breakable objects scattered throughout the stage) within 10 seconds, and another one for beating 3 very tough AI opponents with only one character. For what it's worth, the rest of the game is very easy. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (vanilla) - 6/10 (with all DLC characters purchased) The hardest trophy was the one for clearing Score Attack. You have to fight every character in the game with brutal AI settings. You can't use a continue, but there is an exploit for this so it's not a concern. The last boss - Unlimited Rachel, is very difficult. A lot of people fight her using Tager cheese methods, but I was never able to pull those off, so I had to fight her the "normal" way with Jin. The tough part is that Unlimited Rachel rejects Jin's cheese methods, so I had to fight her legitimately. As for the combo challenges, they are hands down the hardest ones I've seen in a BlazBlue game. However, there is no trophy for doing 100% of one character's challenges. You only have to do 100 challenges across all characters, and if you buy all 3 DLC characters, you can avoid the upper-level combo challenges almost entirely. BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger - 5/10 Just like in Continuum shift, the hardest trophy is the one for clearing Score Attack. The setup is the same, except that the final boss is Unlimited Ragna. He's tough, but not as tough as Unlimited Rachel. BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend - 4/10 There is only one remotely challenging trophy in the game, and it's for doing a 90-hit combo with Ragna. 70 of those hits are from his distortion drive, so this is not nearly as bad as it sounds. Dragon Ball FighterZ - 4/10 You have get an S-rank in Arcade Mode. The AI is not hard at all, but the difficulty comes from having to play almost perfectly to get a high enough score. This is not very hard to do, and everything else in the game is a joke. BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle - 3/10 Again, there is a trophy for clearing 100% of one character's combo challenges, but even the high-level challenges in this game are a joke. I cleared this with Yosuke, and I would not be surprised if there were characters with even easier challenges. Everything else in this game is a joke. Mash square to win. A beginner to the genre could plat this game (with some effort on the combo challenges). Granblue Fantasy: Versus - 3/10 Last and certainly least, we have this piece of shit game that changed my opinion of Arcsys. Due to how easy this (and all new Arcsys fighters) are, I'm strongly considering not adding any new games to this challenge. Why, you ask? Because how can I make anyone interested in watching my progress in a game where all I have to do get the platinum is mash square? Get your shit together Arcsys; your fans want a challenge. My next game will most likely be Skullgirls 2nd Encore. I initially planned to do it last since I think it will be the hardest one, but it is going to be a Most Wanted game in the Ultra Rare Cleanup 2022, so I'm strongly considering doing it soon. Thanks everyone for your continued interest and support; it means a lot. Happy New Year! Copanele
YES, in the words of great Akihiko First of all, awesome post dude! Congrats for one big fat bountiful year in fighting games I pretty much agree with your ranking there :> INCLUDING difficulty = hardest trophy. 36 minutes ago, yuber1234 said: BlazBlue: Chronophantasma Extend - 8/10 The hardest trophy in the game, and in this entire challenge so far, was the one for completing 100% of one character's combo challenges. Truth be told, me and @AihaLoveleaf did have a "Umbasa Tager" chanting session before the Score Attack so Rachel fell flat on her bottom after some well applied Gadget Fingers. But it seems Jin was just as cheesy. Trials were crazy though. Valkenheim especially, I played lots of fighting games but I never found a game where I can legit "dog cancel" a move into another move. But yeah these games are 10/10 in graphics department and 2/10 in snooze department. If I want a power nap I just play one of these. 36 minutes ago, yuber1234 said: My next game will most likely be Skullgirls 2nd Encore. Thedah
100% agree in your disappointment with newer Arcsys games and their super easy trophy list. I don't have time to grind fighting games to be competitive anymore like I used to and now only buy them for trophies and am saddened by how easy the newer games are where it usually takes less than a day to platinum. I'm glad my library has all the newer fighting game releases where I can just borrow them and not have to spend any money lol.
Yuber6969
@Copanele Thanks man! I wouldn't call Highlander Assault fun; I still have the beast's theme burned into my brain. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on it when you get there. And maybe I'll give Injustice 1 a try. Still need a UR I game for the A-Z Challenge. Mai was useful for Speed Star but... yuck, Mai Spoiler and his big ole tiddies. I might go back and try the DLC combos for P4AU once I'm done with everything else. @Thedah It's sad for sure. I've started buying some of the harder non-Arcsys games like KOF 13 because of this.

Popular Post Yuber6969
Sküllgirls Graduation day has arrived at last! Mrs. Victoria’s so proud of you. I started Skullgirls 2nd Encore a couple of days ago. This is the trophy for completing all of the tutorials. These were the hardest tutorials that I've seen in a fighter so far. There were combo challenges in the tutorial, and I actually struggled with quite a few of them. On paper, the combo challenges were easy, but all of the challenges that I've seen in the game so far require ridiculously fast timing. The tutorial has 7 base game chapters, plus one very short DLC chapter. This trophy guide says that you only need to do the first four chapters for the trophy. However, the trophy did not pop for me until I did every chapter including the DLC chapter. Before finishing the tutorial, I attempted the combo challenges (the non-tutorial ones). It took me an hour to do Filia's first two combos. Similar to what I saw in the tutorial combos, they were easy on paper but required lightning-fast speed. The inputs in this game are also displayed very differently from what I am used to seeing, so hopefully it will get easier for me once I get used to this style. There is a trophy for doing all combo challenges in the game. I'm hearing conflicting reports about whether or not Annie's (DLC character) challenges need to be completed for the platinum. Sadly, my guess is that they are. My assumption is based on the fact that the tutorial trophy didn't pop until I finished the DLC chapter. Popular Post Yuber6969
April Fact's DayThe joke is that she's not a joke Every trophy that I've seen in this game so far has a cryptic description. This trophy is for clearing Story Mode with Fukua. Hers was the fifth story that I completed, and I had been playing everything on normal difficulty so far. I had been getting through Story Mode with almost no difficulty until I had to fight the final boss of Fukua's story. She takes very little damage, blocks almost everything you do, and takes out about half of your health with her combos. After dying several times, I did some research. Apparently, she is a joke character, and the final boss of her story is always set to nightmare difficulty. I haven't touched any of Fukua's combo challenges yet so I don't know how to use her. I found a cheese strategy on Reddit that involves spamming 236HK until she dies. I had a very difficult time with this fight until I found that strategy. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I've made a bit of progress on the combo challenges. This is what I have completed so far: Filia - 2/4 Cerebella - 4/4 Big Band - 1/4 I was stuck on Cerebella's third trial for several hours and ended up rage-quitting last night. I had actually decided in that moment that I was going to give up on the game, but changed my mind this morning. After some more practice and some instructions from @Copanele, I got it done. The combo challenges in this game are giving me an extremely hard time, and apparently I've only attempted the "easy" characters so far. As I mentioned in an earlier post, the game is very unforgiving when it comes to timing. This one is gonna take me a long time.
Yuber6969
Survival SerenitySurvival is no horror. This trophy is for beating 10 opponents in Survival Mode. I used Annie and I had a very easy time with this. I didn't even bother to look at any guides for tips and/or cheese methods. I made a couple of careless mistakes, but for the most part, I was dominating the AI. I ended up beating 18 opponents. Here's a recording of my run: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I made more progress on the combo challenges. Total Completed: 19/56 Filia 4/4 Cerebella 4/4 Peacock 3/4 Big Band 4/4 Beowulf 4/4 I felt like I was starting to get the hang of the trials until I got to Peacock's final challenge. I've been stuck on it for hours. It requires speed and is gimmicky. The difficulty for her challenges was rated 2/5, so I'm dreading the high-tier trials.
Popular Post Yuber6969
I finally completed Peacock's final challenge. I had been working on this for 5 - 10 hours (wasn't keeping track). This is a contender for the hardest combo challenge that I've ever done. On paper, I've done much harder challenges in other games, but the difficulty for this is drastically increased by the fact that you can't pause due to the strict timing requirements. Popular Post Yuber6969
I finished Eliza's combo challenges. I found her pretty easy overall, at least in comparison to the other characters I've seen in the game so far. Her last combo was straightforward, but it tested my memory as it was a bit long. Here is her final trial: 7 characters down; 7 to go. I'm officially at the halfway point! I have been picking characters in order of ascending difficulty based on this guide. I'm starting to get through the combos a lot faster than I did when I started the game, but that may change because there are some brutal trials ahead. Popular Post Yuber6969
I finished Double's combo challenges. Her first 3 combos were straightforward, but I had a really rough time with her final one. There were no gimmicks at all, but it required extreme speed. I was at it for several hours. I probably won't attempt any more trials tonight; my wrist is sore. Here is her final trial: According to the guide, Double was the last 2/5 character that I had left. If that was a 2/5, I'm legitimately stressed about what constitutes a 3/5. Popular Post Yuber6969
I finished Robo Fortune's challenges. She was my first 3/5 character, so I was concerned about the increase in difficulty. I actually found her challenges easier than some of the 2/5 characters. Her final trial was supposed to end with Parasoul getting hit by the explosion. The combo dropped before the explosion hit Parasoul, but it seems that all the game cared about was that I put it in all of the inputs fast enough. Here is her final trial: 5 more characters and 20 trials to go! Next will be Squiggly. Popular Post Yuber6969
After a brief break from the game, I finished Squigly's trials. Her first 3 trials were easy but her final one is a contender for the hardest trial I've done so far (and yes - I know it gets much worse). Early in the trial, there is a cancel that I'm still not 100% sure how to execute without dropping the combo; it was working for me about half of the time and I couldn't differentiate between my successful attempts and my failed ones. On top of that, the game doesn't tell you that you need to let the j.MK before the Fallen Woman attack hit twice or the combo will drop. It took me hours to figure that out. Here is her final trial: 4 more characters to go. I'm now entering 4/5 difficulty territory. Next will be Painwheel. Total Completed: 40/56 Filia 4/4 Cerebella 4/4 Peacock 4/4 Double 4/4 Squigly 4/4 Big Band 4/4 Eliza 4/4 Fukua 4/4 Beowulf 4/4 Robo Fortune 4/4
Popular Post Yuber6969
4/5 difficulty territory has not been kind to me. I struggled quite a bit with Painwheel's first two trials, mainly because of her flight gimmicks. Her third trial is the one that I struggled with the most. The annoying flight gimmicks are present in this trial too, but the main source of difficulty is at the end of the combo. You have to cancel 3 attacks in a row and end with a super. I failed many times before getting some help in the forums. It turns out that I wasn't doing one of the cancels fast enough. Hardest challenge in the game to date, and I'm well aware that it will get worse. I still have to do her final trial. Here is her third trial: Total Completed: 43/56 Filia 4/4 Cerebella 4/4 Peacock 4/4 Painwheel 3/4 Double 4/4 Squigly 4/4 Big Band 4/4 Eliza 4/4 Fukua 4/4 Beowulf 4/4 Robo Fortune 4/4
Popular Post Yuber6969
I finished Painwheel's final trial. It was significantly easier than her third one, and did not take me very long to clear. The only hard part of the combo is inputting the Flight -> j.LP -> j.LK after the Buer Reaper as you are given a very small window of time to do so. However, this is one of the very few combos in the game where pause cheese works, so the difficulty was greatly reduced. I shamelessly used the pause cheese, and will not hesitate to do it again in any future combo where it is an option. Here is her final trial: Total Completed: 44/56 Filia 4/4 Cerebella 4/4 Peacock 4/4 Painwheel 4/4 Double 4/4 Squigly 4/4 Big Band 4/4 Eliza 4/4 Fukua 4/4 Beowulf 4/4 Robo Fortune 4/4 Three more characters to go. Parasoul is next. I'm not having fun anymore.
Popular Post Yuber6969
I finished Parasoul's combo challenges. I had some trouble with her second one, and a lot of trouble with her last one. She is a charge character, so there are several sections in her combos that require you to hold 4 down while doing other inputs, then release the 4 into a 6 very quickly, then immediately continue the combo with other inputs. In other words, her trials are both gimmicky and require ridiculous speed. This took me such a long time that I forget how many hours it took, but I can say that I was working on this for at least 2 nights after work, and several hours today. @Copanele gave me some extra advice (on top of what was already in his guide) that got me through the last section of the trial. This was the hardest trial in the game for me so far, and it won't hold that title for very long because the two characters that I have left to do are the 5/5 characters. Here is her final trial: Total Completed: 48/56 Filia 4/4 Cerebella 4/4 Peacock 4/4 Parasoul 4/4 Painwheel 4/4 Double 4/4 Squigly 4/4 Big Band 4/4 Eliza 4/4 Fukua 4/4 Beowulf 4/4 Robo Fortune 4/4 My wrist is quite sore and I might take a break from the game for the rest of the weekend.
postofficebuddy
I think you’re over the hump. Ms Fortune will be hard but I think if you can do Painwheel and Parasoul’s then you should have what it takes to finish all of them.
