Popular Post antithesis Posted February 20, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted February 20, 2014 I took the time to read a couple of articles about this case and it's easy to dismiss this as "cuz 'Merica" and enter into the pro and cons of a gun debate. The sad reality is the police in the USA are so afraid of their own citizens being armed that they knocked on the door with weapons drawn. I can see how the mistake was made (the kid answers a door knock from the police with an object in his hand, policewoman overreacted and fired), but it simply wouldn't happen in countries where guns are illegal, at least not without due cause (drug raid, murder call, siege etc). The culture of fear in the US is a real shame because it's a beautiful country with friendly people, but there's a persistent undercurrent of distrust. Good thing I always use the peep hole in my front door before answering the door. Just in case someone is on the other side I don't know or cops with guns drawn... Bottom line you can't trust anyone.
