Spring 2023 Backlog Challenge

Took a break from the winter challenge but as work has now started on the downtick towards summer I’ll add a tentative list for Spring. Some massive games in here so going to restrict myself to 7.

Another quick update to finalize my list. I removed Dysmantle and updated Hogwarts Legacy percentage. Trying to stay under the 50% threshold has been difficult pre-challenge, and I’m excited to finally complete the story and mop up the collectibles. (Fingers crossed I don’t run into any glitches.) I also added a couple more PS+ games I want to complete before my membership renews.

I'm going to try and you know throw together a list that's actually achievable this time. I'm going to add some shorter unstarted games that have been sat on my backlog for a while, because I'm trying to make a conscious effort this year to try and knock out some of the really old completions left to do on my list, and pretty much all of those are higher than the threshold.

I started Final Fantasy XIV, but there won't be any real updates from me this month, I guess. FF XIV will take up most of my time and not give me many trophies to post about. Which is alright. I'm having a good time with the main story and will focus on that before going for any specific trophies other than the time-gated ones such as 1000 levequests. I'll work on those at least once a week. I'll try to do all other games as soon as I have some time off of work and then go back to FF XIV and get as much done as I can.

I knocked out the three easiest games, the Artifex Mundi Lost Grimoires trilogy. I don't like the Bejeweled minigame you had to play to make potions in the second and third entries, but all in all the worst part was being paranoid that I might miss a collectible as I always missed one of the hidden collectibles when I played blind. I also had earned a trophy in Minecraft Vita for eating a pork chop so I edited that.

 

Sadly, I lost my save for World of Final Fantasy as I accidentally downloaded an older save over my current save so I had to delete it and now have to start over but since I have three months to work on it, I can work around that. Also, I edited my percentage for Disgaea 4+ Complete because it has a trophy unlocked because I got the trophy for starting the game.

Unfortuntately, Day 1 didn't show much progress outside of platinuming the Artifex Mundi trilogy. I ended up booting Minecraft for PS4... and immediately restarted the world because the first I created dumped me into a frekking Snow Biome in the middle of a frozen river, which was hell because I could easily fall into the water and get assaulted by Drowned. ?

 

The second one did all right and even spawned a friendly caravan trader... who got assaulted by two skeletons which spawned in the daytime and proceeded to kick my a$$ several times. (I had on instant respawn because I was not going to go through the You Died screen over and over again.) Seriously, TWO SKELETON ARCHERS spawned near my base in FULL DAYLIGHT. I got the 16 easiest trophies because I was lucky enough to find some iron ore near my base, but I couldn't get very far. I found out that my area lead to several deep ravines which basically cut off my exploration. Found a cave with some creepers in it so I intend to craft a bed and some torches and go explore that in the future.

 

All in all, no progress elsewhere but I intend to save Hogwarts Legacy for the 20th when I go to Universal Studios and their Harry Potter theme park. My next target will probably be knocking out the Wild Arms port for PS4 as I managed to get through the PS5 version pretty fast. Also, need to start on that solo mage story walkthrough for Disgaea 4+ Complete. LEGO DC Super Villains will be dealt with in due time, maybe next week.

So a bit of progress in Day 2:

• I got around to starting Wild ARMs and did a bit of Rudy and Cecilia's prologues. Need to go to Jack's prologue so I can get all three done to be able to form a party and initiate the duping glitches to max out their stats with Apples.
• Got a trophy for crafting the rest of the tools in Minecraft (Vita), and as for Minecraft (PS4), I visited a trophy realm and got a ton of trophies knocked out but ended up quitting because I got lost in the Nether and couldn't get back to the spot where i entered. *sigh* I got the trophies for knocking out a Ghast, getting a Blaze Rod and what not, but still haven't gotten the trophy for hitting a skeleton from 50 blocks away as that realm has a ton of hostiles. I'll have to come up with a different strat. I might just create a peaceful mode Survival world to knock out every non-combat trophy and then go to another trophy realm to get the rest knocked out. I did get a couple of DLC trophies, though.
• Got a second trophy in Disgaea 4 Complete+ for getting totally defeated because I forgot about the Sardines code you enter at the title screen to unlock the Cam-Pain HQ without needing to do any stages so I thought you had to do Stage 1-1, and Axel wrecked my face.

So anyways, plans going forward:

1. Focus on Wild ARMS and try to get that as my 125th platinum.
2. Either that or Minecraft PS4 by knocking out all the non-combat trophies on Peaceful Mode then getting to The End on a trophy realm and trying NOT to get lost again.
3. Work on every non-combat trophy(DLC included) in peaceful mode on the Vita Minecraft as I'm using it to distract myself during my neighborhood walks.
4. MAYBE start up LEGO DC Super Villains again and make a more pleasing Rookie anti-hero.

The big project in March is getting story completion on Hogwarts Legacy around the week of March 20th because that's when I will be in Florida. (Lots of planning to do here!) I moved World of Final Fantasy to my April goal and Disgaea 4 Complete+ is probably going to take two months to complete.
