Burnout paradise remastered managed to keep its soundtrack didn't it? I think there's hope for the soundtrack.

I'm going to say something outrageous here, I preferred the 2012 most wanted, because I loved burnout paradise and it reminded me of that.

But I would like to give 2005 most wanted another chance though, didn't play it much in the ps2 generation.

Most Wanted 2012 was a decent racing game but a bad nfs. I was a bad copy of burnout paradise with less exciting jumps and an inferior open world. Burnout paradise is the best racing game since we have trophies in my opinion.

A good racing game has a good progression system and having all vehicles from the start in mw 2012 pretty much killed it for me. Most Wanted 2005 had everything a good racing game needs. Good progression, variety, amazing soundtrack, even a decent story. It didn't have many cars, which could be downside, but this way you can basically remember almost all of the cars of the game and you felt more attached to them.

Now this is smart; banking on peoples nostalgia, a good play in this day and age. Re-cashing in on the best era of arcade racers and I'm fine with it. Not like they're making anything better these days so you may as well just remake the old stuff that's tried and true.

Most Wanted wouldn't have been my first choice, Underground 1 and 2 were my favorite NFS's, but I'll take Most Wanted. Just so many good arcade racers from this era, I would die for a Midnight Club II remake.

Ohhhhh boy oh boy. They're playing with fire now. This is my all time favorite racing game by far, and in order for a Remake to work it has to be completely and utterly faithful to the original in every way. The issue with this...is this game came from a very different, very special generation for Arcade racing games...Gen 6! Gen 6 wasn't like a lot of the mediocrity we have today, where you can't drive properly if you don't perfectly drift around turns (I absolutely hate how much drifting has become a mainstay). No this game had buttery smooth, tight, precise controls where you could whip around a turn going full speed (or just slowing down a bit). And yes I have played it on PS2 pretty recently so it's fresh in my mind again just how incredible it still is...the only issue playing it now are the graphics are kind of bad...not in a "of course they are, it's the PS2" kind of way...it's more about how blurry things are to look at now (and that's with me using Composite Cables on a softmodded PS2 that can upscale to 720p).

So color me a little worried. I DID NOT like the 2012 Criterion take on Most Wanted...so I absolutely want NONE of that. If they can some how figure out to keep the integrity of the gameplay Black Box built to near perfection, in place without changing anything...then great. The only thing I want modernized are the graphics and the controls (such as using R2 to accelerate instead of X). If this feels anything like a modern NFS, or a modern racer in general....then it's DOA for me immediately.

EDIT: Unless this is just for the 2012 MW, in that case I couldn't care less. But this seems confusing, the Twitter image is definitely stylized like 2005.

Definitely the one from 2005 (OG). The voice actress didnt have a role in the 2012 version.

Ngl, I would prefer a remaster over a remake, the odds of fucking it up would be much lower. Take the OG, give it 2023 graphics, (drastically) reduce the rubberband ki and dont change the OST -> perfect.

I am a huge fan of the older NFS games, U1-2 and MW most of all. Aaand I am totally not excited about these news. Maybe I would even like this remake not to happen at all.

It’s sad for me to say all that, as really I, as a MW admirer, would crave to see a remake coming out. Just not the type of remake that’s probably going to be made by the current NFS developers. I cannot stress enough how I am tired of this tap-to-scripted-drift handling model NFS have been using for over a decade.

MW is one of the most loved and important games for me, it brought me an insane amount of emotions in my childhood, it influenced my music taste, it developed love for cars in me. So I really just don’t want to see this game being ruined and twisted by the modern NFS approach. It would be a heart-braking for me.

But well, I can’t do anything other than waiting to see how it is going to be. I will be happy if my expectations will be ruined here. Who knows, maybe it will be the first NFS game for years where they will abandon their shitty handling model. Maybe they will keep the original OST too. I would die from happiness overload then.

Oh nice, I think this one was of the NFS I used to play (Hot Pursuit being the first). My memories on it is a little wonky given it feels so long ago, but it was one of my earlier racing games. Then I found GTA and liked the freedom to drive without restrictions. Played Payback recently, so about twenty years since I last played a NFS I think.
