Hello fellow PSNP community this is Lion, with all the current Platinum races going on I though I'd jump in with some fellow friends of mine as you can see in the poll.

This is a year long race between the 5 of us, On December 31st 2016, this will come to a close at -5:00GMT.

Plat race point system (some ideas borrowed):

A base of 100 points subtracted by the plat rarity.
(i.e, a plat rarity of 5.74% would net you 94.26 points.)

EDIT: The Final scores will be tallied after December 31st, we'll use the year-end %'s to adjust the scoring.

Going by PSNP guides, than .org if PSNP doesn't have one:
The "base" minimal time required will have points measured by hours.
(So a 40 hour plat will net you 40 points. This is to prevent abusing UR plats of short but difficult games)

You plat points can be halved if someone else obtains that plat during the race.
(i.e, Lion obtains DA:O plat, while Whyfire already has it the 92.43 points of Whyfire would change to - 46.21 points. This is used as a strategy in this race, say Lion has 100 points and Whyfire had 105, the halving strategy would change Lions final stance to 146.21 points and knock Whyfire down to 53.79 points. So there are strategies to this race.)

A platinum obtained on a game is worth an additional 25 points per rival that doesn't have the plat, but has the game. (Taunting and brag-worthy of rivals, while worth the extra points, is susceptible to halving.)

A point modifier has been added to scoring based on rarity of plat. A lot of other plat races use Ultra rare, rare, common, etc. plats to determine points. We decided to follow suit in our own way. We'll use 100% plats as a base modifier of 1.0 and 0.01% plats as a base modifier of 1.5. Using the 100% difference and a 0.5 difference of modifiers, we'll take the rarity and divide it by 2 to bring it to the .5 difference, and than divide it by 100 to get a number to take away from the base 1.5 to give a modifier.
An example to explain easier : A platinum with 8.44% rarity, would be divided into 4.22% divided by 100 to give us 0.0422, 1.5-0.0422 would give us 1.4578 as a modifier. This also goes to those who will plat 4 game in 30 hours for 430 points, compared to 1 plat in 30 hours giving 130 points, will now allow easy plat farming not to be so advantageous in this race.

 

A new added addition to the race is the inclusion of a difficulty multiplier added to the overall score. So when the final score is tallied for a game we'll add the Difficulty Multiplier (The Trophy Guides difficulty rating put into a tenths value, so 8/10 would become a 0.8 value with the 0 changed to a 1 to keep the overall score the same. So the multiplier would become 1.8, it grants a more fair score on games that take the same time/longer to be more rewarded.)

Auto-popped plats do not count, as don't the plats from the Plat rain event.

After doing an Epic Quest together, I just have to support Titanic Balls.

 

The point system seems a bit too complicated. If I understand it correct, participants get points for 100-rarity + amount of hours according to guides, which can also be halved if someone else plats the same game? What happens when more than 2 people obtain the same plat, does the score keep getting divided by 2 every time or is it divided based on the amount of people who have it?

As this is a 2016 race, we counted from the first of Jan. As he platted it at 8pm, thats 20 hours from midnight. So We agreed a full 20 points.

Scores were recalculated to remove all hours spent points on trophies before 2016, So fairness in conjunction with Titanic's SO has been equalized. Haha.
