JanFranSwan
I'm stupidly paranoid, but is the righteous trophy glitching for a lot of people? Also if you kill a non-combatant can you just reload a save or do I need to start a new game? cause I think that's the only thing that could have prevented me from getting it other than a glitch. skateak
I am wondering the same myself about the reloading save part. I know weapon kills carry over even if you reload a save so non-combatant kills might also. Almost done with my Medium playthrough and I don't think I have killed anyone but I have reloaded my save. Dragn_Whytefyre
This trophy is bullshit. It's the only reason I don't yet have the platinum. FOUR run-throughs and it still won't pop and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt, I didn't kill a single nc on my last game. Most frustratingly irritating trophy I've seen in a long while.
SuchRemorse
This might be a stupid question but how do I advance in this game? I'm trying for the righteous cause trophy. Don't kill any non combatants. I'm stuck in a med bay type room with a medic that just keeps running around saying "don't kill me.. I'm unarmed" I don't want to kill him because that would void the trophy. (I think) I've read if you aim your gun at him the key card will appear in the room. I've been chasing him for about 15mins now and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
blazkowicz6
I got it on my first playthrough with no problems. Even killed a few noncombatants but then reloaded the save. ?
OpenScars
aksj.hgaskj.hgzd;gq I've done a playthrough on each difficulty and not killed any non-combatants and didn't get the trophy. I've just finished a 5th playthrough, on easy again, and barely killed anyone at all, I just ran through everything. Still no trophy... I didn't kill the three 'mutants' that could've been miners in the zoo, didn't kill the hospital staff for the key card or the area to drop the boat or to stop the tram engineer. I didn't use explosives or the railgun. I'm at a loss.... Edited October 15, 2022 by OpenScars
OpenScars
SIXTH playthrough after deleting the game and data. I had my damn gun holstered for most of it! No trophy, again! Has no one found a work around for this, or am I just stuck on 96%...
TWarrick90
I just got the trophy a few days ago after my 4th playthrough , what I did was: 1. I erased all my saves, to start a fresh playthrough. 2. Start a new game on easy difficulty 3. Only use the pistol, submachinegun, assault rifle cause you might get an accidental kill with other guns. 4. On my playthrough I killed an non combatient and I just reload my save and the trophy still pops And this: I make the playthrough on 1 go (2 hrs) Dont know if it's gonna work, but that's what I did, hope it helps anybody Edited January 13, 2023 by TWarrick90
zartCORE
There is nothing wrong with this trophy. I got it first try and I used every weapon. It doesn't have to be in one run and if you think you accidentally shot someone feel free to reload your last save file. It's simple. Don't kill any unarmed character by yourself. If you don't get the trophy by the end of the campaign you have killed someone somehow. Period.
JeManquedHygiene
This thread got me anxious, and seeing the trophy pop at the end of my 2nd playthrough was a huge relief. I was borderline paranoid about it and reloaded even when a non-combatant got anywhere close my line of fire. Just my guess, but I think the biggest offender is the rail gun. This thing seems to have unlimited range and will go through absolutely any surface. I did use it but was super cautious.
dieselmanchild
Does anyone know if your allies (fellow Red Faction members) count as non-combatants? They’re often running away from the baddies as I’m charging into rooms and I think I may have shot one or two by mistake but I’m not sure. I reloaded a save just to be safe but figured I’d ask here since this looks like it’s gonna be a common occurrence throughout the game.

I'm not sure if they do or don't tbh but I would say it's best to assume they do. It's hard to tell as the trophy is buggy and there's no way to see in game which is a pain. They usually die pretty quickly anyway. My advice for that trophy is to play on easy and just run past pretty much everything. There's only a few places where you need to kill enemies to progress and outside of the rail driver enemies towards the end you don't really take a lot of damage. Once you know what to do and where to go it only takes about 2 - 3 hours for the run.

I’m not sure if I’m just lucky, or if it’s because of how cautiously I played, but thankfully I managed to unlock Righteous Cause first try. Very happy about that as I’m usually one of the unlucky people with these sorts of things.🙂 I did play extremely cautious though and saved extremely frequently & reloaded often. I’m not sure how many of these points actually matter, but for anyone interested the basic rules I followed while playing were as follows: - Only killed combatants once they started shooting at me, never shot first. - Tried my best to only kill enemies while they were actively firing at me. If they ran away or tried to audibly surrender I would try to stop firing. (ended up being a moot point though) - Made sure to never accidentally kill a Red Faction member in the crossfire. If I did, I would reload. If enemies kill them that’s ok. - NEVER let a single non-combatant die under any circumstance. Even if they were killed by enemy AI or an explosion or something I would reload immediately. - Did not kill the guy guarding the submarine, the Administrator, or the Launch Technician. - Did the entire medical lab area leading up to Capek in complete stealth with the doctor’s labcoat (this area has hella non-combatants) - Did not kill any of the electric blue fish during the submarine sequences. - Did not kill any of the few random creatures in the game that weren’t hostile (ie. that one mutant in the medical cells, the robot in the bathroom etc.) - NEVER touched the remote charges, rocket launchers, grenades, flameflower, or rail gun. I’m sure a lot of these precautions were over the top but hey, better safe than sorry I say… I should also note there’s a couple of spots in the game where it’s really easy to kill non-combatants by accident without even realizing, such as shooting at hostile enemies in some of the booths or firing at groups of them from across canyons. If you do kill one you may not even realize it because unlike enemies, their bodies despawn instantly. Good luck to future trophy hunters going for this.
