Parker
Greg Martin, responsible for some of the most iconic video game box art, has passed away. Greg Martin, the iconic video game box artist responsible for designing the covers of numerous classic games, has passed away. The sad news was reported by one of Martin's friends on Nintendo Age, where a selection of his best known work is now being posted in tribute, including the covers of both Pac-Man and Sonice the Hedgehog 2. Greg Martin began his career at Hanna-Barbera working on projects related to the Flintstones, Jetsons and Yogi Bear. This provided him a way in to the games industry, when he was asked later in life to design covers for games related to the properties. In time, Nintendo, SEGA and more came calling, and it wasn't long before Martin was designing the first box art for some of gaming's most beloved characters. His work can be seen on the cover of titles including Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Pac-Man, Landstalker, The Flintstones, and Duck Tales 2. RIP Greg, and thanks for all of your contributions to the gaming industry. IGN extends condolences to all his friends and family. Sucks to hear, he was a wonderful artist.
