The all new PlayStation Stars loyalty program (Stars are not NFTs)

I haven't had negative experiences with PlayStation support, but I'll still delay purchases until I see a proper confirmation in a more official place, like the PS Blog, or until it works again. A screenshot of a chat session with an unnamed agent posted on a third party site isn't solid enough confirmation.

Oh, well… I noticed this morning that now EVERYTHING glows in PS App, but PS Stars is still under maintenance… What a bad joke, Sony. Lights in controllers and systems too first, and now useless shiny text boxes and buttons in the app? More phone resources attached to your app just because of appearance? It looks cool and whatever, someone could say… but first take care of the work that you have pending and that is relevant to the consumer, please.

I've had enough bad experiences with PlayStation support to not believe them. I will continue to hold off until I can see the points immediately update in my account for myself.

Especially when you report the problem to PS Support and they tell you 'you're not enrolled in PlayStation Stars' duh!

So... gaming news outlets stopped talking about this issue, and the subreddit has become a cesspit.

Has Sony finally obtained what it always wanted from the beginning?

Stopping a program that made gamers spend more money on digital games?

I highly doubt that's what they wanted. Don't assign to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

Considering the recent news of Sony Rewards finally ending in December—the most predictable outcome ever, with how that program was barely limping along for ages—I do wonder if they were in the midst of implementing some backend changes to make Stars a true replacement for it (such as awarding points for using the terrible Comenity PlayStation credit card or what have you), when something went amiss.

Luckily, I already redeemed what little points I had for PSN wallet funds before it broke, so I'm not concerned. I wouldn't trust their assurances that points for purchases will continue to accrue during the outage, though; Sony Rewards once similarly promised that everything would still count when their service went down, and I ended up getting cheated out of 2000 points or so. Probably best to wait until it's restored.

Ouch... they can actually make useful posts?

tl;dr we're still collecting points during the outage.

EDIT: now that i see this, the email they're talking about is the same that includes all other account information, i.e. even the transaction history. It takes a couple of days to be received though, since it's very detailed. It can also be obtained from browser by going to the Account Management/Settings, then under Privacy, from the PlayStation website.

If you don't receive the confirmation email, try this link 1-2 days after making the request: https://id.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/id/management_ca/?entry=dl_personal_info

You can also see your points earned with each purchase through the back end api.

Sign in to the website: https://store.playstation.com/

Then open this link: https://m.np.playstation.com/api/graphql/v1/op?operationName=metGetPointsHistory&variables={}&extensions={"persistedQuery"%3A{"version"%3A1%2C"sha256Hash"%3A"302481c4156ec3f64332bf4b76251597eb30825a79e2736641737bc3af77755c"}}

Most recent purchases are at the bottom of the list.

Yeah... much faster. Don't know why it never worked a couple of days ago (it was on Reddit)... thanks!

My latest points were obtained on June 14, this is exactly when i made my latest paid transaction.

Definitely works, I can see points from a purchase made yesterday.

Can anybody say if campaigns started before the issues began are still being tracked?
