Alos88
With the apparent end of shovelware on the PSN store (or at least the end of them being endlessly pumped out), it's nice to see a game like this- one that's probably not too long or too complex, but that actually has a unique idea and that even teachers the player something useful. I know we talk about bad lists a lot but I think it's worth sometimes championing steps in the right direction like this too.
Popular Post Raidou Kuzunoha XIV
Had a look at the game on Youtube. Seems like it just shows you a hiragana chart with the Romanizations, then the "gameplay" just consists of showing you some kana and asks you to select the correct Romanization of each one... Doesn't even give audio/pronunciation samples for the hiragana. Unless I'm missing something (there ain't many videos for it, and most are just how to get the plat in 5-10 minutes), that's a terrible way to actually learn hiragana. Could be okay to test your pre-existing knowledge I guess, but why pay for that when there's tons of these kinds of tests/quizzes online for free? I struggle to see this as anything other than just another "pay to get platinum trophy" game, just with an "educational (winky face)" branding on it. If anyone is actually interested in learning the hiragana script, you're probably better off using mnemonics and testing your knowledge repeatedly until you've memorised them by heart. You can easily do that for free online, Tofugu has an excellent guide, but there's several different sources out there. Popular Post Thrillhelm
Its a glorified memory game where you may learn what the hiragana mean but you don't learn anything above that, like pronounciation and usages. It's shovelware in disguise.
Alos88
That's a fair enough assessment, and honestly there's no easy way to learn a language, especially not one as complicated as Japanese. I guess time will tell if this is just the start of another obnoxious trend or just a one-off.

Popular Post You
This game is an absolute piece of shit. There's ironically more Japanese to read on the trophy popups since this user has their OS set to Japanese. There's also more gameplay in one of those shite Jump Bump games, and that's saying something. Edited November 28, 2022 by enaysoft
PooPooBlast
I feel like 5 mins is way too long to learn Hiragana. I'm personally waiting for the Turbo edition to come out. Time is money people.
PalaceOfLove706
I gave this game a go and can’t say it’s a good game. Just looking at a chart didn’t really help me learn.

GT__Jedi
Not shovelware, but close enough.
Macabro
I got it because my 9 year old is into anime now, and wants to learn japanese. We did it together and she actually knew like 3/4 of them. It was a fun half an hour and a free platinum for nine cents. I was hoping for pronunciation but it is what it is. And by that I mean not much, as other memebers have stated above.
