It's been a while since I did an update, so here goes: 

 

 

Since my last update, I've added The Binding of Isaac (black), Bloodroots (red), Scarlet Nexus (white) and Lamentum (tan). 

 

I think all of them should be okay? Lamentum is probably the most arguable, although Tan is a very broad colour!

Okie dokie I have completed YELLOW with the Secret Armory DLC for Borderlands JP version, Minecraft Dungeons Season 1 DLC for PINK, anndd Mafia II for TAN. Which completes my first RAINBOW! This is the first event I have participated in on here, and I wasn't sure if I would even finish it but, it turns out I've had a lot of fun getting all of these colors and even cleaned up a bit of my backlog. Don't judge my MSpaint skills

 

I plan to start working on my second card, which honestly I probably wont finish lol, but I already have one game to put on there with Far Cry 4 for BLUE

Back real quick to add a pink to my list with Ape Academy 2....

 

I don't even really know how I'd describe this one accurately, it's basically what would happen if Mario Party had a baby with Ape Escape.... with a pretty decent little card game added into the mix.

 

I was very pleasantly surprised by how smoothly this game ran on a PS4. I'd only played Ape Escape up to this point, out of the recent slew of emulated titles, and this one runs buttery smooth, and thanks to the upscaling managed to look pretty crisp and clean even on a 40" screen. So that gave me quite a lot of hope for some of the other titles being added to this range.

 

I had a lot of fun with this one though - and I'd be surprised if the completion set you back any more than about ten hours, so if you're on PSPlus Premium, it's definitely worth a look if you like the Ape Escape series, and wanted to expand your collection of trophies from those games.

 

But as an entry into the Ape Escape series, I thought it was pretty interesting, I honestly never even knew this game existed - or the other Academy titles until it was added to the service, so it was a very pleasant surprise. It plays nicely, it's a lot of fun to unwind with after a pretty long day, and if you're looking for a pink for this event, which can definitely be a bit of a tricky one, this might fit the bill.

 

Now my board is starting to look a lot more complete I can't make silly jokes about nakedness anymore.... I erm, better think of something new going into my next post.... but for now, it's still lovely seeing those slots get filled in

Got some new additions finally. Moved Evil Genius 2 from white to red in order to put Ghostwire Tokyo on white. Also added Life is Strange: True Colors on purple and Ratchet and Clank: A Rift apart on blue. 

 

Does God of War Ragnarok work for yellow, with Atreus's clothes?

GREEN - Ghostrunner: Project_Hel 

 

RED - Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus

 

I completed all of Ghostrunner from scratch and used the DLC image for this color; worked best this way.  A fun first person Hotline Miami, Cyberpunk 2077, and Mirror's Edge hybrid.  It was free on PS+ some time recently and it's worth checking out!

 

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus was an amazing completion.  Not as tough as Doom 2 but still a hefty challenge.  Mein Leben was pretty difficult, and required a huge time investment in not only practice, but the live runs itself.  It took me 3.5 hours for my successful run, using a mix of strategies I curtailed from different sources.  I will make an attempt at replaying the game again (but on IADI difficulty) as if it were a live ML run and record each stage for posterity.  I absolutely loved this game.  In my opinion, the industry doesn't make enough linear, story-focused, single player shooters and so I gobble up any that I can find.

 

Honestly, the most annoying part was sitting through the 8 minute opening cutscene after each failed run.  That's the best time to go get a fresh beer, take a whiz, or change out the laundry.  Also, take frequent breaks if you find your performance degrading.  It's a harrowing game and you must be completely patient whether it's your first Mein Leben attempt, or your 10th.

Well, I realized that instead of saving completed games for unfilled colors for my second, less-perfectionist card, I can just put them on here now to get my first card complete, and then swap games between cards later. ?

 

Finally got the Inscryption platinum this morning, which promoted me to ?Rainbow Warrior rank! ?

Meet Coloring Book: The Videogame, but with an adorable plot and legitimate discussions of anxiety and depression! I was one of those players who colored in every inch of the map (though after I while I did start to use the bucket brush to quickly color large areas). It was awesome to check the map and have it reflect everything I did, down to if I had stamped a bunch of flowers on a cliff wall or clumsily wrote out something in large letters. This was my game for the Mental Health Awareness 2023 Challenge and I had a great time with it.

Wow. Just... wow. What an incredible game. Every time I thought I had my head wrapped around it, every time I started to get comfortable with the rhythm... the game had something completely new up its sleeve. I was so fortunate to go into this game almost completely blind - knowing just that it was a card game, it was GOTY-level for many people (and some people's GOTY when it released!), that it had a spooky vibe, and to go into it as blind if possible. 

 

Gorogoa 

A very interesting puzzle game! The platinum was pretty easy. Most people only have to do two playthoughs, but I had to do four because I didn't realize that "Beat the game in less than X number of moves" counts every button press you make, not simply how many valid moves it took to reach the end... ?

Finally got another color on the board! Also put in a picture(I don't own the art, I found it on Google) to commemorate passing the halfway point!

 

 

Yveltal doesn't fit the color scheme, but neither do Xerneas or Ho-Oh, but Ho-Oh's counterpart is silver gray so I had no choice and I couldn't find any non-shiny light green legendaries so I just put in the X/Y legendary duo. (Zygarde would be light green but that's a third wheel and doesn't fit. Also Red, Blue, Green and Yellow won't be legendaries.)

 

I finally cleaned up an entry from my participating in KYC2023 with Brown but I think brown suits it because it's complete turd manure. It's slow with tons of cutscenes and you can't skip them or fast-forward text. Also, I had to grind a lot of coins to get good equips for the super-boss which kicked my buttocks. Typical EXE-Create trash only much more painful to play through. I am glad to be rid of it!

Got my Orange entry with Mafia, a game I've literally wanted to play for twenty years but didn't thanks to its PC origin, panned PS2 port, and my odd decision to pay full price for the remake only to wait almost three more years to play it. And it's pretty good! A little generic in spots, and the controls are mid-2000s af, but overall it was worth the wait, I really enjoyed it.

 

Brown went down as well with my lazy ass finally getting back to Resident Evil 4 and wrapping things up. I know I could get my gamer card revoked for saying things like this, but... I've just never vibed with it all that much. I know that it's an objectively excellent game, even by Resident Evil standards, but it's always been one of those games I respect more than I enjoy, if that makes sense.

 

 

And that's all the blah blah blah I've got this time around! Got three colors left, hopefully I can finish and join the top tier before the bar gets raised again - all you overachievers already goin for Rainbow #2, I see you!

Nobody is revoking your gamer card for not being hyped about Ressy 4. I've never liked Resident Evil as I'm not a big fan of anything with zombies(save Rottytops ), but I do respect the hype people have for finally getting the most popular Ressy onto new platforms. If people respect my hype for the first six classic Final Fantasies getting a remaster on the PS4, I respect people for wanting more Ressy.

I used to love the Resident Evil games when I was younger, and I still buy each new one that comes out. But my enthusiasm for the series has waned a bit over the years, and I've never been massively excited about the remasters. To be honest, I wouldn't consider myself much of a 'nostalgia' gamer – I don't have as much time to play anymore, so often want to play 'new' games, rather than revist storylines I completed half a dozen times when I was in my teens/20s.

An odd game - absolutely dripping with style, with some great environment design and lighting, and a cool premise. It's let down by some repetitive gameplay and some really poor mechanical and technical issues...

 

....(seriously, I have to jump up these stairs, because you didn't even check to make sure the game physics were compatible with the slope you designed them on ??)

 

 

 

Still though.... it's hard not to give the game a pass, because the things it does right outweighs the things it does wrong!

 

Really looking forward to Alan Wake II now!
