Maybe with some choices based on potentially committing felonies by looking through a suspects post…but it was just a 30 year old woman playing delivery worker for a week and that’s literally it

 

I liked the arcade machine, but it was completely missable and had no trophies related to it. Also it was just Galaga, but it was a nice break from driving the floaty van with the same 3 songs playing

I totally didn’t play any arcade game (I did see a cabinet but didn’t have an option to use it that I could see) maybe that would have been the 10mins of fun this game so sorely missed. But totally agree, life is strange this is not. I was gonna say they are not in the same ballpark, but to be really fair to life is strange, these two aren’t even in the same sport let alone similar ballparks.

Completed Afterparty for purple and my 15th game for this event.  Perfect timing to play this game as Night School Studios' next game Oxenfree II: Lost Signals releases on the 12th of this month.  

 

I discovered this game after I completed Oxenfree earlier this year for this challenge and I was so impressed with that game, I searched to see what other games were made by the same developer.  While I think this is a good game, I think it's a step below Oxenfree.  The writing, particularly the comedic writing, works well and Dave Fennoy's voice acting for a drunken philosopher Satan is pure gold.  The interspersed reflexive humor worked the best for me and were some of the more memorable comedic lines.  In one of my playthroughs, at the end of the game I chose a particular party for the endgame event and Satan wondered "If I consulted a guide on GameFAQs" and later while making certain decisions to pop a trophy he asked if I was making these decisions for some sort of "secret achievement" or to see something most players wouldn't see.  It was just enough to make it work, anything more would have been over the top.  

 

With that said, everything felt a little flatter compared to Oxenfree.  The characters and relationships in Afterparty just weren't as fleshed out as in Oxenfree and I don't think the conversation choices branched enough.  I could do another playthrough of Oxenfree today and it would feel like something completely different.  The character relationships change quite a bit based on your decisions and the dialogue can be wildly different.  In Afterparty, I didn't really see that.  Most conversations gave two options and from what I could see neither really changed things over time.  I even experimented with different conversational choices with the alcohol mechanic and while the initial dialogue was different it didn't seem to change much.  

 

I want to reiterate, I think this is a good game.  But the best way I can express my feelings about the game is this: This game jumped a lot of spots on my backlog because of Oxenfree (and the fact it fits into purple nicely).  If I had played Afterparty first, I'd put Oxenfree on my backlog and get to it a couple years down the line.

 

With that said, I'm going to take a quick break from this challenge to play Oxenfree II when it comes out next week (unless it works for yellow).

My second game added, Geometric: Feel the Beat. Boy this was certainly a game, it's fine for the first few levels and then it becomes boring. All the co-op stuff you can do by yourself if you have a second controller. The music is the one decent thing about it and it's only 5 or so tracks that repeat themselves over and over again. But overall I'm third to complete it, so there's that.

While there is no true shortcut for checking what games have main images that match each color, if you check the first post in this thread, and go under the Rainbow Elites section of the post, @DrBloodmoney has very helpfully provided links to all of the completed rainbow cards of participants at that level or higher. It will give you some ideas if you don't necessarily have time to read through this entire thread (though, there are a ton of great options that you can find simply by following the thread! And, reading the posts and people thoughts on games is totally worth it, imo!)

 

Another option is simply check your PSN profile here on PSNProfiles. This is a good thing to do, as games completed in 2023 count, as long as their backgrounds are predominately one of the colors in the rainbow template Dr. Bloodmoney created). The OP also has other helpful resources, too. If you sort your games on your profile by uncompleted, you can see if you have any other games that may work, too, that you have some progress in.

 

Also, while not all the games would work for a color imo, you can check out the Trophies to Fight Cancer event threads (the OP for that also links to the Event from 2021), too. It can help you find games that might work for Pink, especially, which is one of the harder colors to find, imo. It can also give you ideas for Orange. Again, though, you'll still need to make sure that the image is predominately whatever color you intend to make it work for, IIRC.

It's been really fun to read opinions on other people's choices. It's what makes events like these great. Everyone puts a lot of creativity into their rainbows and each one is totally unique too so it always feels fresh catching up on the thread. I've been convinced to add a few games to the wishlist (and a few to stay away from)!

Another game completed!

 

 

And with Biomutant done, only 4 games remain to be conquered! Btw, I started Biomutant expecting a bad game, and... I actually liked it a lot. You can customize your own animal (mine was a giant rabbit with a small head and purple body), your own class, and then you are left to explore the world. Armed with several weapons, you have to explore a world that feels alive, with tons of different quests and things to do.

 

This game had a lot of different ideas and most of them are not well implemented, but they are enough to have fun with the game, if you forgive its flaws. The worst thing about the game, by far, is the voices. Every NPC has animal noises as voice, and the narrator then translates what they said. You have to wait for the NPC to finish their noises, then the narrator will tell you what they said. It's very veeeeeeeeeeeery annoying; it would have been so much better if the NPC directly talked to you, but I guess that way you would need several voice actors, and not only one. Oh well, it was fun even with that.

 

Next stop, as I need something quick before Baldur's Gate 3, will be Yooka and Laylee and the Impossible Lair!

Been a while since my last update but I've got a few more to add

 

Human Fall Flat is an absolutely amazing couch co-op to play through that encourages exploration and learning the mechanics better with the various misc trophies for each level in the game. Also thanks to the amount of DLC they keep adding I was able to snag the #1 100% time on the stack I played which will probably not last long with how much of it they release

 

Sifu has probably been my favourite game to play this year with a good story, incredibly satisfying combat and a fun but challenging trophy list it really ticks all the boxes I'm looking for while trophy hunting.

Still the most visually impressive game out there, the DLC made that point even stronger. The story was alright, I guess.

Was very excited for the launch, it was fun and honestly... I can see some potential in the idea.

Eh... not very great...

 

 

Yeah, shovelware shtuff.

 

But then again, Green is Venusaur from Pokemon Green, which is even half-assed than Frogo 2, which is just Frogo 1 with a dash feature and a bigger map. I also platinumed Frogo 3 and the PS4 version delayed popping trophies because there are seventy bronzes for the first 70 bananas you collect. WHY??!? (They added 25 extras at the end in case you missed any but seriously the day that I miss any fruit in front of me is the day the universe spontaneously combusts. )

 

My second and hopefully last shameful title, but then there are not many games with a green background. Sure, I could have done Bug Fables, as I am sure everyone think it's the second coming of Paper Mario, but I don't have time for another RPG when I have to platinum Dragon Quest XI S.

 

I have five and a half months to platinum the remaining four games and get this card finished for Rank 2 of my Rainbow Prestige. (Not going to go past Rank 2 as I have too many games to play that don't fit the color scheme and I don't want to restrict myself. I could have held off DQXIS for another Maroon but seriously... no. That game is due a platinum NOW.)

Just finished another game: Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. It was an interesting, short game to get through. I'm not sure where it fits in. I was thinking maybe green or light blue, though I'd like to keep light blue for another game I'm working on.

any opinions on what color this could fall under, if any? i was thinking brown or maybe perhaps tan? but i just wanted to be sure before i added it to my card ? thank you!

Seems perfect for brown imo. Could maybe argue tan, but brown seems much more fitting imo.

I'd say Brown or Grey would be best, though Tan could possibly work in a push, depending on the other colours on a rainbow!

Hey everyone! I wanted to go ahead and post my first update (and a pretty substantial once since I have not updated since joining this event!

 

 

So - since I have joined this event - I have completed these games. 

 

None of them really blew me away but the kid's games were fun with my little nephews (and then I just polished off the trophies when they got bored of the games).

 

The Artful Escape was surprisingly great! I LOVED it. Sagebrush was good too - I really liked the story. 

 

I am currently working on Soul Hackers 2 which MAY move to my purple spot and Wheel of Fortune may get moved to Dark Purple. 

 

Also - let me get some opinions on the following:

 

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - Would that work under Tan?
