A social group that some people may not know exist but would like to check out. I remember back at .Com I never participated in these things because I assumed they were only for the artists. TheGeneral sent me a message inviting me to vote and I ended up really enjoying voting and checking out the different artworks. ---- How much time was wasted opening up a PM and deciding "I do or do not want to go to that link"? A couple of seconds? So where is the harm? I mean it wasn't like he found your real email or called you at home, he sent it to your account attached to the site. So sorry that you don't want to participate in the SOTM contest but once again, there really wasn't any harm in it. I would advise next time PMing the sender and saying "don't send me these" and then if you continue getting messages sent to you, you have a reason to complain. And where exactly did I agree to receive such "invitations"? I'd understand anything PSNP related to be sent via PM from the admin/moderation team, but when it's individual member then I do consider it as a spam. Or unsolicited messaging, if you will. It's in no way any different from the spam I get via email every single day. ---- There doesn't have to be any specific harm in something so make it not allowed. I really wouldn't like to go into the discussion of "allow for one, allow for all" but that's really what you're implying there. But I shall heed your advice and flag the sent message as unsolicited, which it is. I will also not be returning to this conversation as the offtopic has already gone for too long. The Signature of the Month is a monthly contest where various members of this PS3 gaming forum enter in the hopes that their signature is chosen as the best. It's pure fun and has no monetary connections. There are a lot of artists that enjoy the work they put into their signatures/art and all the SotM does is display it. On average 20-30 votes will be entered into this contest per month. The Studio section of this forum is an underrated section of this forum and it does not necessarily receive a lot of traffic as this is primarily a gaming forum. Once a month, I will message people that are online asking them to vote in the SotM. Here is the message you speak of: Can I ask you to vote in the SotM? We have winners of the SotM that never would have entered if they were never messaged because they did not know this existed. No one was "begging" you to vote. You were simply asked if you could vote in the SotM. You had the option to read my message and ignore it, which would take 5 seconds. You also had the option of responding to me saying no, which would take 10 seconds. You had another option which was to report my message, which would take 10 seconds. Instead, you come to the contest and start ranting about how your day on this website was ruined by this message and you've been debating about it with other members. That took up much more time than all the other options you had. You DID NOT even respond to me asking me not to message you again. Before sending this message out I double check that the person has not voted or been sent this message before. The SotM restarted this January, so in the past 5 months you received ONE message asking you to vote. Maybe that qualifies as spam to you because it is irrelevant to you, but than it's safe to say your debating on this contest thread with 5 posts is 5 times the amount of spam I sent you as it is completely irrelevant to the point of the thread. I will make a note not to send you a message in the future and I apologize that this message was such a big inconvenience to your day. I can see how frustrating it must be to have to click on the message, open it, and be compelled to rant about it. I'm not responding to you again after this post and I insist you refrain from attempting to seek more attention to the tremendous pain and suffering you just underwent. I have loved doing graphics for a long time and more or less backed out of doing them quite frequently for the last few years. But, the relevance is that what he says is true, in that this section does not get much traffic. And, if he wouldn't have PMed me, I wouldn't have come here to vote. I had a hell of a time trying to think of an idea for this SotM so I was a little lazy on this one but I wish I would have thought to make one based off of Reki's wolf from Aria The Scarlet Ammo, I even had a picture of it on my profile.
