Popular Post Christopher
10. The Combat The combat is a lot of fun, and is really open to different playstyles. If you really just want to punch every enemy to death, you can do that. If you want to string together 6 special moves, while blasting your opponent from wall to wall of the arena, you can do that too. The combat gets as complex as you want it, and rewards you for playing in a more fluid manner than jamming square. 9. The Platforming If you haven't played Guacamelee yet, there are some intense platforming sections. With a mixture of puzzle and execution, they really stand out, and particularly the Tule Tree will have you feeling defeat and craving victory from these sections. 8. The References Man, this game is chock full of hundreds of references. Zelda, Mario, Memes, Strongbad. Lots and lots and lots. They don't necessarily make the gameplay better, but they certainly add to the experience. 7. The Maps! This sounds like a goofy thing to really appreciate, but the maps in this game are really a work of art. Because you rapidly find powers, you find yourself backtracking quite a bit to past temples for areas you couldn't reach previously. Luckily, the map marks the entrances to secret passageways that you've seen, and even has color representation of blocks that you haven't already broken. This means you spend less time searching high and low for the puzzle and prize, and more time moving through the game with your prizes. 6. The Characters While the characters begin rather dull, the game really works developing quirky personalities for everyone! Even the characters that say one or two lines, or misc characters, have a little personality for you to catch onto. The bosses, while rather dull with combat, have fun dialogues before and after the fight, and their reactions to losing are fitting to themselves. 5. Secrets And this game is chock-full of them. Secrets in the cabinet, under the floorboards, in the walls. Secrets everywhere! I don't know if there is already a guide for the games secrets, but there are enough secrets to find and enjoy without one. The satisfaction of finding those upgrades, easter eggs, and chests make it really fun and worth while. 4. The Trophy List Now I know a lot of people might not take this into their account for why they like the game, and you fellers are welcome to skip this part of the list, but I think the trophy list in this game is perfect. There are no missable trophies, some collectibles, and a few trophies for misc tasks, but nothing ridiculous. The platinum takes two playthroughs, one on easy and one on hard, but the game is enjoyable to the last drop, and the platinum is absolutely earnable. 3. Fast Paced Gameplay The gameplay is very fast paced. You find powers all the time, so the game is changing enough to never get dull. The platforming changes from basic when you have fewer movement and combat powers, to advanced when you have more and more, so the game never feels repetitive while you platform. The combat also adjusts to how often you find new abilities, giving enemies shields and other abilities that make them as formidable foe as you are. 2. The Price Is Right The game doesn't cost as much as a full length blockbuster title, and the length gameplay you get out of that reflects from the lower price, but the quality of the gameplay doesn't diminish, and you'll get maybe 15-20 hours out of this game for both of your playthroughs needed for the platinum, and definitely far more if you choose to continue playing to master your combat skills and combo execution. 1. Exploring Living and Dead World This has a big image link, that I'll throw on the end of this section, but the Dead World is sort of a, opposite, of the living world. The characters in both worlds are different, meaning to get the full experience, you need to check all the nooks and crannies in both worlds, which can eventually be switched between at will through unlocking. The enviornment for the dead world is completely different, and the switch instantaniously changes the filters, color pallettes, and music. The game really gets bonus points from me here. http://i.neoseeker.com/n/1/comparison_shot.jpg If you haven't gotten the gyst of it, I love the game, and you all need to do yourselves a favor and play it. Mr Incredible
i will say that this game is in my top 3 vita games i have played. I tried the option to play on the ps3 while using the vita as a controller with the map always on the screen. The map needed to be voomd out a little but its still a neat idea. And as you said the combat could be basic for button mashing or have a little complexity to it. I really like the combo chicken side quest. I tried to use some of the combos in the game. All in all I highly recommend this game to all.

I managed to take out the first boss on hard mode without getting touched by keeping her in a consistent air juggle.

I bet 5 bucks every single game this kid enjoys is a blockbuster title. He probably has no sense of adventure for games outside of his immediate comfort zone. YimSiphny
I love this game too, great art style and soundtrack and plays like a dream (or nightmare if you're after those last two f@#king orbs...)Finally got the plat yesterday and gold on all the DLC challenge events. JimmyRSX
One of my favourite PSN games ever, and plays like a dream on the Vita. I recently got the platinum for it, and I only take the time to get platinums on games I REALLY like a(and aren't too hard). I've only got 3, yet I'm level 14. Anyway, I agree with everything in the list, but I'd have put the awesome music in there somewhere as well. The mariachi / electronic soundtrack, that slightly changes when you switch between the living and dead world is inspired. BhekifaZ
I liked it until getting some of the orbs started pissing me off. Specifically the Sierra Morena and Tulu Tree ones. I just don't have the patience for repeated failures.

merciful84
Yeah, it did turn out to be a surprisingly good game to me. I wasn't expecting a whole lot from it going in for some reason. The humor and other gaming references were what I liked the most about it. DarknessKey92
Something I really love about the game is: In other games(like DMC for example) you'll get an alter form(Devil Trigger), that is a playable character's Ace(An extra boost in Strength or over-powering attribute). Perhaps seemingly useless to some, the "Chicken transformation" holds a nice ring to how I went through my "Hard mode" run; avoiding lots of unnecessary battles(against OP enemies). Not to mention, that once you've gotten the 5 orbs; the game'll reward you the ability to "fly"(for your Chicken form)...It really becomes hilarious just watching enemies try their best attemping @ doing damage, while simply flying over all of them. Another thing that I've really liked(especially during my hard mode run) were the "Checkpoints" placed in boss battles(between phases)...If it wasn't for that feature, then I'd be screwed "trying way too hard" clutching them. Plus the best part is: "there's no Penalty for dying". Edited February 23, 2015 by DarknessKey92
FluffyAssassin64
Yeah I loved it; thought it was a fantastic game! Combat was extremely enjoyable, characters were great, loved the platforming... basically I definitely agree with everything you said. I literally didn't even think about playing it again on Hard; it just happened automatically - that's how much fun I had with this game! Really brought back the magic of the platformers for me Now to play Rayman: Legends!

Especially Great Temple level where that definitely made me remember of Guacamele the most. The sound of it was pure amazing right there.
