Sony PlayStation won't be at E3 2019

I always thought E3 was for EA to show off their yearly FIFA slot machine and whatever game they're throwing under the mobile market bus, for Microsoft to send out a hobbit to present their yearly release of 5 exclusives and for any other giant AAA pub/dev to show the world their new cash grabbing machines? Does Sony really need to be a part of that circus?

Don't forget about that Ubisoft screaming woman and the latest Just Dance sensation lulz.

Sorry I had to do it

That's the response I was expecting.

To all the people saying censorship is not a big deal. Ubisoft will be censoring Rainbow Six: Siege in order to be acceptable for the Chinese market. The same is being done with Diablo: Immortal and possibly future Blizzard titles. Sony may only be doing it to a genre you do not care about or perhaps even hate, but what's stopping them from censoring more genres and titles?

Diablo Immortal needs to be censored completely, aka not existing at all. Or stay in China and whatever.

Honestly, Sony not attending E3 this year doesn't come as much of a surprise. Like most people said E3 is kind of dying a slow death. I think Nintendo has the right idea with their Nintendo Directs and I have a feeling more and more companies will start following that trend. Its short and to the point. Plus I think it's just smart financially tbh.

Not to mention, games take longer to develop and because of that you're probably going to see the same thing recycled over and over again, Indie games and smaller games being the exception.

Plus thats the easiest way to counter the pretty crazy amount of leaks that happen right before e3 too.  The way gamers perceive e3 is going to change pretty drastically.  It's always going to exist, due to its actual function for stores and what not, but the "E3 is where all the announcements happen!" Style trade show will soon be a thing of the past.  The internet has made it possible to make your announcements any time, any where, and get your message out.

As far as censorship goes Sony is not the first to do it.  Nintendo did it with Fire Emblem Fates, as a recent example from the big 3 off the top of my head, and Sony surely won't be the last one or only one to do it in the future either.  Sony really can't, and shouldn't, be taking all the flak for it.

Honestly, I've probably only watched an E3 event around three times. There's nothing E3 could do to replicate the speed, ease, and audience of the internet. I've always gotten my gaming news from websites and never from events and leaks would come out before the event anyway.

Even casual gamers use the internet and YouTube for their gaming news these days. E3 is a dinosaur

So, because someone censored stuff in the past, Sony shouldn't take flak for censoring stuff in the present?

Sensible...

As an avenue for getting info out to gamers? Yes.

E3 needs to go back to its original purpose - a chance for programmers to meet developers and publishers, and for developers and publishers to get real feedback about their upcoming games, and not merely fanboy cheers.

Maybe you should just shut up before acting like you know everything when you aren't even able to understand why people are complaining. I'm not even playing the majority of the games they are censoring and I certainly don't need a porn site either but someone that prefers to judge without knowing shit wouldn't know.

In case you didn't know, E3 is an event that even casual gamers tend to watch and it is during E3 that these people are going to gather information concerning games they wouldn't even know about if it wasn't for E3. What you don't seem to realize is that Playstation are basically letting Microsoft presents all of their games and other developpers games without having an actual competition, and you are crazy if you think that Microsoft isn't going to capitulize on that, they are eager and they certainly don't want to repeat the mistakes they did with the Xbox One.

When I talked about Playstation digging their own grave I wasn't saying literally that they are going to go bankrupt either, I'm just saying that next gen is probably going to be a wake-up slap for them, just like last gen.

And concerning the censoring, the problem isn't even concerning "underage anime girls" or whatever excuse people like you are using for protecting Playstation's ass. Censoring always begins like this with big companies threatening small companies knowing they won't even have the money to replicate (Playstation are basically restricting developpers to release their game on their platform because of a change that happened after the initial deal, how nice of them) but they are not going to stop there, if you don't believe me then just inform yourself on Nintendo's history of censoring and look how they are currently backtracking.

Companies shouldn't have to tell mature people what's appropriate and what's not and they shouldn't have to threaten developpers to ban their game if the game doesn't present abusive content whether it's sex or violence.

If you believe that living in a society where big companies are dictating people how to live their lives and which kind of content they can or can't enjoy is fine, you clearly have a problem.

There is no need to derail the topic even more, and don't bother replying my blacklist is welcoming you. Have a nice day.

Oh no, you blacklisted (aka censired) me for countering your rant with common sense and rationale lol.

Sony has the market and e3 is dying. There are people allegedly smarter than us that run the numbers and decided there's more value in an alternate to e3. Once again, they aren't the first or only big name to skip e3.  As for casuals.. just how many CASUAL gamers do you think are going to spend money to fly/drive to and attend e3, a largely gaming expo. Consider that if you will.

As for censorship, you realize you have it backwards right? Sony isnt censoring the games, the culture in the market they're selling in determines what's inappropriate and gets censored.  Sure, censorship sucks, but you need to blame the Anerican/German/Japanese/Chinese/etc cultures for that, not a company taking steps to put a fire out before it begins.

What a nonsensical statement.

Christ - I have to get out of this thread. Too much...ridiculousness.

There's a difference between Nintendo self censoring 1st and 2nd party titles and Sony forcing it on 3rd party dev's

I don't agree with either, but Sony is way worse

I didn't dispute that fact. I said others censored so Sony shouldn't be treated as the only studio that does.
