Great update since i finished all remaining challenges for Round 1 and enough in Round 2 to start Round 3 now   for Round 3 challenges 27 and 28 i declare Dragon's Dogma as my title which is still at 8% E rank...

I am quite surprised that i made it to the 3rd round and have over half amount of the challenges done already... but the last challenges to be completed if at all pretty much the same every round so far

 

I'm happy i achieved my personal goal: completing all 40 challenges at least once but let's see how much further i can get as there are still quite a few days left in this month...

Time for an update from me... 

 

Round 1 is now 37/40 done, with the following new entries:

Note: Round 1 done in Green, since this is my 4th update, so they are marked with a number "4" on the "column A". Round 2 are below, challenges done are marked in Red, since it's the 1st update, I marked them with "11" on the "column A". I use the "column A" as filter, and ignore the long list after that.. That's my master checklist of what I already locked and if it was for round 1 or 2 (same color code as before, but all marked with "0" on "column A")... OK, I may be exaggerating a but on my organization and tracking, but I like to keep track of stuff..

 

I also think that I will be done with this round once I completely finish round 1 and do 32 of round 2, since to complete 3 other challenges for round 2 (to be allowed to start round 3), I would need to start at least start 1 or 2 games that I'm not wanting to start this month (those would be Sam and Max Beyond Time and Space Episode 4 + The Grand Tour the game, unless I get a trophy from FF15 A King's Tale)..

I just realised after reading Jemmie's update i mistook challenge 19 the entire time... i thought it was the last or better second to last trophy unlocked over a year ago but it's much easier than that

 

@Han_the_Dragon you may add the game which you use for the challenges 8 and 13 I looked at your trophy log, both are from Persona 4 Arena...

Thanks for pointing that out, I really was way to tired.. 

 

My main objective with the post was actually to say that I was starting round 2 and mark those 2 challenges (that I put in bold) because I was planning to play One Piece Burning Blood on my train trip, but I end up just sleep during the whole train trip lol, ya, I'm that tired lately.

The current challenges have a nice spread in terms of difficulty. Depending on your backlog, some of the challenges can be a bit challenging, but I feel like part of the appeal to this competition is pulling out obscure games that you wouldn't otherwise play. Some of the challenges are probably impossible to those with smaller backlogs (I don't own a single game from 2018 that I haven't already gotten all the trophies in), but the fact that you can set aside five challenges and still move onto the next round makes this system work.

 

Also, as I'm finishing up Round 1, I have two questions:

1. Can I change my game for challenges 27/28 to Dragon's Crown, and if so, can I just report the trophies I got tonight, or do I need to get new trophies since I'm just switching my game now?

2. When starting a new round, are trophies obtained during Round 1 that didn't count for anything eligible for Round 2? I doubt this is the case, but I thought I'd ask.

I asked the same a few days ago and the answer is you can use them   any trophy earned after the 1st april that hasn't been used in a challenge is allowed...

Thanks! I guess this leads me to the only minor complaint of this thread, being that all of the long updates discourage me from fully reading everyone's posts. I mostly just skim here.

I have started employing the use of spoiler cuts for my trophy completion portions of my post since I feel most people are only going to look at those if they need ideas to help them complete their challenges or the mod of the challenge is checking my completion. I do apologize that my posts have been some of the longer ones. I play every day but typically post once a week as typing can sometimes be difficult for me (its been particularly rainy here which makes my hands swell up and causes my typing to become a garbled mess).

 

Perhaps, in future months, @CSmit180 could put in the rules for the challenge that if the post is going to have more than a certain amount of completed challenges (perhaps 10) than it would need to be under a cut. That way no one would miss relevant info. Also, there should probably be a FAQ compiled and put into the first post. 

 

I guess this brings me to my feedback for this event.

I find the challenges to be just right. There is a good balance between some being more or less difficult to achieve. I know I have very few trophies available to me with the word east in them (I actually bought 36 Fragments of Midnight to get a couple) but I have loads with the different letters since I play lots of games with long trophy names. 

 

I also am fond of the variety of the different challenges. It causes me to really look at the games I have in my backlog and thing about what I'd like to play in order to accomplish as many as possible in one gaming session.

 

I don't think there is a better way to keep score or report challenges with the exception of maybe requesting that people use a cut for larger amounts of completions being reported at one time (I am guilty of not having done this myself but have employed their use as I noticed just how much space my posts were taking up.)

 

I would recommend that you make the template for the challenge spreadsheet able to be copied so people who want to use that to keep track of their trophies on their own can do so. I ended up making one for myself so that as I get my trophies I can allocate them as needed and it has been IMMENSELY helpful. You can do this by making that specific sheet its own doc and then changing the settings so making a copy is allowed but not editing or anything else.

 

If I think of any challenges for next month I will definitely let you know.

For some reason, the doc lists me a score of 34 despite having 35/40 actually recorded on the list. Just wondering.

 

I think the challenges are just the right difficulty at the moment. The only frustrating thing is, at times, I worry more about what trophies to get rather than just getting trophies. We'll see how next month goes for me.
