Popular Post SixyLove
Final Overview The games in event order. Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness - A visual novel game based of the Psycho-Pass anime that I never watched. I like the game when I'm not reading something I've already read. I expected to platinum this game during the event but I wasn't motivated to play it much. This game will be finished soon after the event, even if I have to force myself to finish it. Gravity Rush Remastered - I wonder why the Vita failed with games like this exclusive to the platform. It was a good idea to port the game to a platform people actually owned. In this game the simple act of moving around is fun. I wasn't excepting this title to be difficult given the platinum is a 7.6% - Sorry, I forgot we use PSNP rarity here, 26.38% rarity at the time of writing this. This game was the fastest 100% of the event. Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded - This is the only dungeon crawler I've played for more then 2 hours. The game can be very punishing and difficult at times. This was my favorite game to write updates for and changed my writing style going forward. This game will probably remain incomplete for a long time. Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded is the rarest game on my KYC list (has under a 150 registered site users [NA list; the Japanese list has around 2000] ; Super Neptunia RPG [NA list] has over 300 so far and the game is barely over a month old) and the only ultra rare platinum on my list. This game will be incomplete for a long time because it intimidates me. Valkyria Revolution - The Fallout: Botherhood of Steel of the Valkyria Chronicles series. I excepted a train wreck, but I got a minor car accident where nobody is seriously hurt, at worst. I enjoyed the story, the gameplay was usually fun and the visual are fine but the filter ruins them. I put the most effort into this title; I gave it a extra day of playtime before my review. The platinun/100% wasn't too difficult but requires a lot of grinding. I finished this game up before writing this. I wasn't able to get a time of 28 seconds on mission 9-1. Super Neptunia RPG - I was going to play this in July anyway but I used it for KYC because the game was released in North America when the event was announced. Super Neptunia RPG is one of the best Neptunia games made to date and one of the few games I will ever praise for having good visuals. The game reminds me of Final Fantasy 9 a lot. This is the only game on the list that I didn't finish the main story of. I will have that platinum soon, it will take 1-3 days of work to earn. Rocketbirds 2: Evolution - I enjoyed the first and had the second (PS Plus) so I decided to play it. I was mentally prepared to play the multiplayer with 2 Vita's again but fortunately the multiplayer could be played solo. I like the first Rocketbirds more but the second is still a good game. The multiplayer trophies weren't overly grindy, all the trophies that I thought would be hard were not too bad and those damn signs are terrible. I would have platinumed this game faster then Gravity Rush but I went to bed before getting the two trophies before platinum because I was tired. I was originally going to do a ten game list but I decided against it because 3 days per game seemed to short for me. My original list contained Nekopara Vol. 1, Transformers Devastation, Zone of the Enders 2 HD, Borderlands the Pre-Sequel and Curses N Chaos. Everything except Nekopara Vol.1 may show up in a future Kill Your Completion. Other games I played during the event. Borderlands 2 - I needed a break from Psycho-Pass. Minecraft (PS4 & Vita) - People over the age of 12 are allowed to play Minecraft. I mostly did multiplayer stuff and got trophies added in recent patches. Rayman Legends - I'm still going for that platinum and only need 810 more points for the final awesomeness level. Kung Fu Rabbit - I was seeing if the game had a cross-save for game dispute reasons. Turns out it doesn't support that feature but I earned a few trophies on the PS3 version of the game so I finished the whole thing. Starwhal - My PS3 wasn't getting much love this month so I AFK farmed the 1000 deaths trophy. Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime - I was getting all the co-op trophies out of the way. Downwell - It's a chill Vita game I play occasionally. Musynx - A rhythm game you most likely never heard of. I play it sometimes to chill. Valkyria Chronicles - Voodoo_Eyes asked me if all the Valkyria Chronicles games had Valkyria Revolutions crap filter over them. I played this game just to make sure it didn't and ended up playing it for a few hours. Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls - I'm currently planning on this being platinum 100. I lost my save data so I'm putting in a lot effort that you can't see. My competition rate at the start of the event was 56.20%. My current completion rate is 57.02%. I feel like I've completely missed the point because my completion actually got better. Half my list I've already got 100% on, Super Neptunia RPG is at 57%, Psycho-Pass is 35% and Touhou Genso Wanderer is at a decent 21%. The only new game I played that wasn't on my list was Kung Fu Rabbit and it helped my rate in the end. My completion is pretty bad to begin with so I didn't expect too much to change. I'll be working on the completion rate so hopefully I don't come out ahead next time. Edit: I have committed many atrocities over the event but my worst one was forgetting to thank Voodoo_Eyes for hosting the event and thanking everyone else for participating. Popular Post Kevvik
Ok, time to sum up the month, from best to worst... The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel - 9/10 - a turn-based RPG with great characters and a really deep looking story Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony - 8/10 - newest entry in the bizarre VN series with a whole lot of story and more jammed in The Bridge - 8/10 - really fun puzzle game but with some collectibles you won't find without a guide The Unfinished Swan - 8/10 - cool little indie with a tight story and controls with no handholding Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland - 7/10 - RPG with more emphasis on crafting/synthesis than combat, characters are interesting even if the protaganist seems a bit oblivious Papers, Please - 6/10 - border guard simulator that does a pretty good job of keeping monotony interesting The Caligula Effect - 6/10 - interesting action RPG with lots to do but a lot of that seems really repetitive Superdimension Neptune Vs Sega Hard Girls - 6/10 - OK RPG with the usual Neptune cast being amusing to annoying, more the former so far Cosmic Star Heroine - 5/10 - not a bad RPG but doesn't really do anything special to stand out Utawarerumonon: Mask of Deception - 3/10 - not bad combat but surrounded by lots of story that isn't the least bit interesting and who cares what happens to the characters 1 out of 7 achieved, 3 out of 3 achieved, 4 out of 10 completed 157/351 trophies earned (wow, not even half of them done ☹️) -1.36% completion rate for the event Not a bad quality of games this time around but several longer RPGs that will take a bit to catch up on. Still, only one real disappointing game. We'll see how I feel after grinding through these RPGs. Keep on gaming, folks! Hopefully we'll see you all back in November. ✌️?✌️ Edited August 1, 2019 by Kevvik
Popular Post AsaraBaenre
Final Overview! I've got to say I liked every game I played for this event, and hopefully plan to platinum them all hopefully within the next year. I gave them all ratings within the mini-reviews, though I think I'll re-evaulate them this time around and give them same "trophy" rating that voodoo used on their final evaluation. 1. Beholder Complete Edition (PS4; Genre: Management Sim) I actually platinumed this one so it comes first in the list. It was a very fun little management game with an interesting concept and lots of things to do. The platinum was a little repetitive but I still enjoyed seeing how everything changed and how each scenario had multiple outcomes. There were a load of different endings that were basically all needed for the Platinum, but they were interesting enough. 2. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor (GotY Edition) (PS4; Genre: Open-World Action-Adventure) This is the next game out of the lot that I plan on platinuming. I had a lot of fun with the open world and the nemesis system mechanics. I'm actually hoping for this one to be my 10th platinum, so I'll be working on that one next. It's the one I played the most of after I had finished my three days with, easily. So far I've no complaints with it, and am really excited for the sequel. 3. Cities: Skylines (PS4; Genre: City-Builder) I didn't give a formal post for this one because I've been very busy the past few days. I actually have really strong mixed feelings about this one. I love the concept, but the controls really have me confused and I feel like I'm going to have to spend a lot more time with the game to figure everything out. However, if you know and love city builders or Paradox games, it's definitely a good game and I think with some TLC and learning I'll really enjoy it. 4. XCOM 2 (PS4; Genre: Turn-Based Tactics) I enjoyed what I played with this game, though I can tell that platinuming it is going to be very difficult. I also want to play the first game before continuing with this one, so it did not get a lot of extra play time from me. Difficult tactics/squad based strategy, but interesting and fun. 5. Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (PS4; Genre: Third-person Shooter?) I've still got to say this one is really weird for me. It's also, I believe, very often going for ridiculously cheap on the PS Store so anyone who wants a fun little shooter I encourage you to pick it up. It's chaotic and ridiculous but was very fun even for someone like me who often dislikes shooters. 6. Tooth and Tail (PS4; Genre: RTS) I was very, very pleasently surprised with Tooth and Tail. The controls really transfered over to the PS4 much better than I expected and though I know a lot of fans of RTS games like the micromanagement the limited ability to do so was welcome for me as I am really unskilled at that aspect of RTS games. I would definitely reccomend it for RTS fans and even non RTS fans looking for a fun skirmish game. 7. Reus (PS4; Genre: Indie/God Game) What a fun game for short bursts of play. The timed games were something I really enjoyed, though I would also love to have a game mode where you can just keep playing forever. Maybe those are available later, I just haven't unlocked them. The game also seems to keep you unlocking things bit by bit which is something I really enjoy. It's a niche game, and I gave it a lower rating for that I beleive but I personally beleive it's great and thus will be upgrading my trophy score. 8. Defense Grid 2 (PS4; Genre: Tower Defense) I have to say I liked the witty banter and dialogue in this one between the characters more than the game play. I'm assuming the gameplay picks up in later parts of the game but it was still fun to see tower defense blasting aliens into oblivion. I also feel like I would enjoy it a lot more if more of my friends had the game and I could be comparing my scores with theirs. 9. Moonlighter (PS4; Genre: ARPG/Rogue-lite) I was really hyped up for this one by multiple friends and I have to say that they weren't wrong, I do love this game. Both parts of the gameplay (dungeon crawling and shop management) are quite fun to me, though I would like the abiltiy to have upgraded bag space. As one of those people who slow walk back to town in Skyrim because I'm weighted down with EVERYTHING in the dungeon, limited bag space kills me. 10. GWENT: The Witcher Card Game (PS4; Genre: Card Game) Everything I know about this game has apparantly recently been tweaked as a large overhaul was released a couple of days ago with enormous amounts of balance changes. However, I did enjoy what I played. Though, I played in Beta and it has changed insanely since then, so given the clear mutability of the game I think I will give this a lower score than I orgiinally had. Still tons of fun, still free to play. Other games played during the event. Burly Men at Sea (PS4; Genre: Indie/Story Based) Platinumed this while looking for something to do to break up a day of frustrating gaming. Was one of those really short games that had an easy plat, so I powered on through it. Was pretty fun but very niche. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PS3; Genre: Action/Adventure) Completed the main story/single player during the event and now have moved on to multiplayer trophies. Yes, I'm trying for platinum. Yes, I'm crazy. Thank you very much to voodoo_eyes for this event, I tend to have netflix syndrome when it comes to my games (browse forever and never actually choose anything to play) so having a list of 10 games I knew I had to get at least a FEW hours in was great. I'll be back for the next event, for sure!STARTING STATISTICS: Games played: 382 Games completed: 10 Trophies earned: 917 Trophies unearned: 2496 Completion: 22.84% Trophies Per Day: 0.28 ENDING STATISTICS: Games played: 376 (I deleted a few 0% games from my list that I abandoned during this time frame either due to unavailable servers or soon-to-be-unavailable-servers that I didn't want to try to rush the platinums for) Games completed: 12 Trophies earned: 1108 (What? How the heck did I get so many extra?!) Trophies unearned: 2948 (I think these numbers are a bit messed up) Completion: 23.67% Trophies Per Day: 0.34 So yeah, I guess in the spirit of the event I failed because my completion percentage went up, but at the same time, I managed to complete two games and actually start a bunch that were 0% on my list. Bring on the next event! I can't wait!
Popular Post Arctic Cress
Game #10 - Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Time played: 3.5 hours Trophies: 1/56 (1% - E) The first time I played Kingdom Hearts, I made it to Wonderland and got frustrated with the controls enough that I never went back after a good three hours playing the game. This time, I've made it further than ever before, so let's get to it. Kingdom Hearts stars a young boy named Sora who is chosen as the wielder of the Keyblade, which is exactly what it sounds like. After being thrown out of his peaceful island life into Traverse Town, he meets up with Donald Duck and Goofy, who were also looking for the Keyblade while searching for their king, Mickey Mouse. Since Sora is also trying to search for his friends, Riku and Kairi, the three decide to team up and continue the search through the various Disney worlds. I'm not going to sugarcoat it at all, the controls have not improved from when I played this on the PS2 and are still bad. I feel one of the main problems is that the camera is way too zoomed in on Sora, which makes it difficult to judge what is behind him most of the time. When the first area has a number of annoying platforming sections, this becomes a real problem. Sora's jump is also very strange, it's like his oversized shoes have some built in springs in them. Anyway, it took a while to navigate through the forest area of Wonderland because of all this. I remember quitting at around this point the first time around, so it's nothing new to me. It's a good thing that most of the other gameplay is good - combat is fine, pretty simple action RPG fare with basic attacks, magic spells, and items. I died at least five or six times to the Wonderland boss though, so I still have some learning to do with the combat. I don't have much to say about this game yet. It's not yet interesting me enough to keep going, so I'll probably set it aside and play the other games I've started during the event now that we're in a new month. Starting completion %: 71.51% Current completion %: 69.80% Difference: -1.71% Mary Skelter: Nightmares - 10/34 (14% - D) Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll - 2/42 (2% - E) [Apex Legends - 3/12 (15% - D)] Nurse Love Addiction - 25/25 (100% - S) The Silver Case HD - 7/26 (14% - E) Fate/Extella Link - 13/44 (20% - E) Resident Evil HD - 3/45 (4% - E) Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star - 4/26 (7% - E) Judgment - 1/47 (1% - E) Tales of Xillia 2 - 1/49 (1% - E) I'll do a final wrap-up post later as it is 4 AM right now and I want to go to sleep
Popular Post dizzyshadow
I've got a bit of catching up to again, so here goes: Game 8: Far Cry 3 So i played Far Cry 4 a couple of years ago as part of a KYC and didn't really get on with it, sop have never been back to it, however i played far cry primal more recently and really enjoyed that so was keen to try out another one and see whether it was a one off. You are Jason Brody a young person an adventure holiday with a group fop your friends, the game starts after you have been captured by one of a group of pirates and are in a cage, you manage to escape with your brother who has military training but is killed while escaping, Jason makes a number of comments about how he can't do this, but after escaping he ruins into some natives who appoint him as island savior. Jason goes from being reluctant to accepting his role new role very quickly and is soon doing all sorts of things he said he couldn't do start with, although he still seems to moan about skinning animals(needed to craft better gear) a lot. In terms of gameplay it is typical Ubisoft open world game play with lots to accomplish and you can pretty much attempt it any order you want although the story missions offer more if a structure if that is what you want. Collectibles galore of course, Overall its an enjoyable romp, i have 2 main complaints, animals seem ridiculously strong and take a lot of bullets to kill (head shots don't seem to work), and falling from even minor height seems to result in death, this may actually be realistic but it doesn't make for great gameplay to be honest. Turns out the reason i like primal more is that i far prefer the bow and arrow as a weapon to guns, but I enjoyed this a lot, it has some frustrations but it will be the first game i go back to and try to finish off. I really must go back to Far Cry 4 as well at some point to give that a proper go, Playtime : 5 hours Trophies: 16/44 Rating:
Popular Post dizzyshadow
Game 9: Dangerous Driving I ended up changing the final 2 games on my list, based on a couple of late game pick ups i made, this one may have been a mistake though. Game 9 - Dangerous Driving, i had heard mixed things about this games, i was interested because it was apparently made by the team who made the burnout games, and after all the discussion earlier in this thread about burnout games, and the fact that Burnout paradise is one of my favourite games, i thought it was worth a try. You can definitely see the influence of burnout in this, if it had been called burnout i doubt people could complain, however its entirely track based not open worlds like burnout paradise, it may be more like the earlier games, but i've not played any of those so can't comment. There are a series of different events which are familiar to burnout (takedowns, time trials, straight races) and a variety of different cars, completing the requirements for one unlocks the next, although to truly complete a gold medal is required which is often much harder. So far the time trials are extremely challenging, other modes are easier although the suffer due to the "rubber banding" effect on other cars, however its not particularly fun, its hard to explain exactly why, but game play largely seems to revolve around using boost as much as possible and trying not to crash into anything. So not one i can recommend unfortunately. Playtime: 3 hours Trophies 10/41 Rating:
Popular Post Arctic Cress
All right, so I did manage to get at least three hours of all ten games. I'll list them in order of how much I want to go back to each now that the month is over. 1. Ar nosurge: Ode to an Unborn Star - This game was one of the main focuses of the event and one of the games I was most excited to start out, and it didn't disappoint. A very interesting story so far and a likeable combat system will probably make this stay in my PS3 disc drive until completed. 9/10 2. Fate/Extella Link - An actual playable musou with characters I'm already familiar with and like. I was wary because the combat of its predecessor wasn't as good as this one was, but I'm glad to see that they've improved a great deal. 8/10 3. Judgment - This gets bumped a bit farther down since there's some Yakuza games that I would like to finish before I get to this one, but it definitely seems to be setting up some interesting storylines from what I've played so far. Looking forward to getting back into it once I do. 8/10 4. Mary Skelter: Nightmares - One of the better dungeon crawlers available on the Vita, a console that's completely flooded with them, and with a manageable trophy list despite coming from Compile Heart. It'll take a good amount of time on my Vita to finish. 7/10 5. Tales of Xillia 2 - It truly is a sequel to the original game with little changing between the two, though having more of Elympios to explore is definitely the way to go as it was under-utilized in the original. The original cast of Xillia is still great in their skits and cutscenes, and the combat system is still just as good. 7/10 6. The Silver Case HD - The unconventional control system and how all information presented is an odd choice for this visual novel, but the story is definitely top-notch even though I've only finished two cases. Kind of wish they upgraded the control system along with most of the game's graphics. 7/10 7. Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix - Not much fun so far, I haven't played too much of it yet though I do have high expectations for this one due to all the praise it gets. We'll see if this turns out to be a winner as I continue my way through it. 5/10 8. Resident Evil HD - I don't really hate the game as it definitely does what it's doing very well, but I haven't played many games like it and it turns out I get no enjoyment from a game like this. Good thing I only have the one game and not other games in the series, because this turned out to be a disappointment for me. 4/10 9. Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll - I put this on the list because I literally knew nothing about it in the first place, and in the end it wasn't anything to be excited about. Just an action RPG with PS2-level graphics and a lackluster combat system. Nothing really to see here. Easy trophy list though, so I'll probably finish it at some point. 3/10 N/A. Nurse Love Addiction - Unfortunately, it's already completed, so going back to it is useless as there's nothing left to do. it was definitely an enjoyable ride all the way through, with an interesting mystery entangled with the slice-of-life and yuri themes. 8/10 Bonus: Apex Legends - This is my first battle-royale game that I've played, and it furthered my suspicions of me being absolute trash at anything resembling a FPS. However, it's still fun overall and I will still continue to play some over the rest of the year. 6/10 As with my last post said, I dropped 1.71% in completion percentage, which with my profile will take a while to catch up on - probably a good few months. Not to mention that there's a few games coming out soon that i definitely want to try out. Anyway, another successful event in the books. Thanks as always to @voodoo_eyes for running the event and I'll see you all again in November, probably. RuneEyesDragon
I think how I am going to Heal my Completion is by using the Trophy Advisor as a guide, earn a trophy from it, and then just go from there. For example, after I sift through the huge backlog of KH3 trophies(because I couldn't complete the play due to the dumb installation procedure that made it impossible to enter the Realm of the Gods ), the first trophy on these games is Summer's End, which is for completing the Roxas prologue in KH2FM. It shouldn't be too hard as I can take a few hours to grind. Then there is the trophy for completing your first skirmish in Ni no Kuni II which is easy to do as I'm close to the event that triggers that mandatory skirmish and it's just a tutorial on how they work so I shouldn't be annihilated. This way I can take things in pieces and bits and slowly get to the end, that way I don't get frustrated as hell. In the end, Secret of Mana will probably the one I bullrush to the end as it's the shortest of the RPGs.
voodoo_eyes
Finally got the online portion for Burnout Paradise Remastered over with. Never going to try to get 8 people together for any form of boosting ever again. As such a lot of the DLC can go burn in a fire. Probably going to go ham throughout this and next week, as there's a lot of races and misc stuff to still be done. Probably will do a handfl of races between other games to make it bearable.
DamagingRob
@voodoo_eyes Lol. I have that game in my backlog. Not looking forward to rounding up that many people... I tried to once for Battle of Z, and I believe we just did it with 5. It's just a massive pain to organize boosts with a large number of people. :/

I have a hard time understanding why people just don't say that they can't at the given time and ask if it was possible to push it back by X First time 5 out of 8 didn't show up, 2nd try 2 dropped out, 1 showed up 1h and 30m late and another one said he couldn't at the time, but would be available when he was "done" (whatever the fuck that means). Popular Post voodoo_eyes
Time for my first post-KYC update. Got the plat in Burnout Paradise Remastered. Not much to add to my previous impression on it really. It's a solid game and fun in short bursts. It gets kind of tiresome doing the 90 races, and later on they increased the AI difficulty by making them behave like dicks, trying to make you crash every chance they get. Still on my first playthrough of Pillars of Eternity. About 25 hours in and recently started the second act. Currently at 7 companions, meaning that 2 are idling at the keep, doing any of the passive quests that pop up. In Odin Sphere Leifthrasir I fiished up the 2nd character's story. Still missing a few more playthroughs, but I'm taking a break from it for a while. I also decided to drop Onechanbara Z2 Chaos. Tried going back to it, and was instantly bored. That's when I knew that there's no way in hell I'll have the patience to sit through several playthroughs of that game. For now I'll mostly be focusing on finishing up the first playthrough f Pillars of Eternity. I think I already messed up one trophy, due to some incorrect info on the guide for it. Not too much of an issue though, as a second one is mandatory anyway.
Popular Post Kevvik
Finished up a couple of the quicker titles, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Superdimension Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls. The Neptune title wasn't bad, grinding out levels, battles, lily ranks for friendship, collectibles and endings. Standard RPG fare. It was OK but nothing special. I ended up skipping through the story on Utawarerumono. I don't normally do that but it was painfully boring. I tried reading a few times at various points. Not knowing really much of what was going on didn't change the story from feeling pointless with bland one-dimensional characters. Finished it out and I'm really not sure if I'll ever play the second title after picking them up on sale as a two pack. Something that is way more story than combat needs to keep my attention a lot better than this did. Otherwise, I was making some progress on my Completion Rate until some kids of houseguests added Minecraft to my trophy list. My son did that to me a while back but hadn't gotten any trophies on my profile so I was able to hide it. No such luck this time. They put a dozen trophies there and I hate having trophy lists that aren't 0% being hidden so it's there full time now for me to clear. I worked a bunch of those off but still have a long way to go to clear that up. My completion rate is back up a bit again now but not much. Working on The Caligula Effect a bit now but also have to start getting more specific titles completed for Gaming by the Numbers so we'll see where that takes me this month.
Popular Post SixyLove
Update 022 "If I can't get P, I feel asleep" Psyhco-Pass: Mandatory Happiness Playtime: I stopped counting Tropies Earned: All There was a Jojo reference. I was also very bored while finishing this game. I was on the edge of passing out on multiple occasions. I guess I'm not interested in Visual novels that don't let me date hot and/or cute guys. "Compa Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing" Super Neptunia RPG Playtime: 28 hours Tropies Earned: + the others It turns out that this game has missable trophies. Fortunately I only missed one and it was obtainable after the first boss. I enjoyed the game a lot but the last act felt a bit rushed to me The trophy grind was quick because of the Metal Dogoo room. Compa saved the day again because equipment in her DLC had a move that was able to do good reliable damage to Metal Dogoos. Noire learned the move but because of game mechanics, Compa had to stand around and look pretty so Noire could actually use the move. The title is very short for a RPG. Super Neptunia RPG is a perfectly balanced with zero exploits and glitches. If you failed the perception check, I'm being sarcastic. Every fight can be one by exploiting the enemies weakness (you can also know their weakness at the press of a button), there are plenty of way to combo a enemy infinitely, absorb every type of attack (except neutral magic but baddies rarely/never have neutral magic and use it), and the game is not difficult once you learn the mechanics. Despite the gameplay being a broken mess, it was a lot of fun. The game surprising only crashed one time. 5/6 game are 100% complete. I doubt any of them will get DLC trophies so I'm in the clear. The last game is Touhou Genso Wanderer Reloaded and I doubt I'll get around to it anytime soon.

I guess I'm not interested in Visual novels that don't let me date hot and/or cute guys. I am probably not the target audience for otome games, but I enjoyed a number of those more than this. Might not have helped I was unfamiliar with the series, but it is one of the most dull ones I've read.
Kevvik
Finished the story for The Caligula Effect. Not too bad actually. Now the grind really begins with clearing the class mysteries and grinding to level 100. As I am currently only level 33, this is going to be a long haul I think.
DamagingRob
Well, @Metal Slime King was right. Lollipop Chainsaw just got crazier and crazier. From fighting a Viking zombie (and eventually just his head) to a giant chicken zombie, and everything in between. A little bit of a grind for trophies, and I kept dying in the dumbest ways on one of the levels in Rank Mode. :/ But overall, very much enjoyed this one. Maybe should give Killer is Dead another shot, since I seem to really like Suda51. Also, finally wrapped up .hack from the previous event. Last game was super short, and a bit disappointing. The cutscenes looked pretty nice, but the rest of the game looked no better than the PS2 entries. It was also only a couple hours long, stretched to 3 due to the cutscene for the bonus dungeon not appearing.. Kinda cool they got almost everyone to come back and voice their old parts, though. Or very similar voices? Edited August 14, 2019 by DamagingRob
Popular Post PerryToxteth
KYCX Game No. 6 AC Origins Playing Time: 15 hours? Trophies Earned: 13/68 (E ranking 14%) Well, it only took two additional weeks, but I finally have time to review my final game. I naively thought I'd have some downtime on vacation to write a review, but turns out there's too much to do in Bavaria and Austria for some relaxation! And sampling too much local beer meant I was in no state of mind to compose coherent sentences. Disclaimer - I'm an AC junkie. It's likely that I've poured hundreds of hours into the franchise. So this review will be more compare/contrast with earlier AC games. Final Thoughts: I applauded Ubisoft when it was first announced that they were taking the AC franchise to ancient Egypt. What a cool concept to take some of the world's most iconic sites and reinterpret them as new, just like what the original builders saw. Then I found out the time setting was in Cleopatra's age, which was the end of the Egyptian Empire (let's be honest, it was on life support for the last 1000 years or so). I was a bit bummed that Ubi had 3,000 years of Empire to choose from, and they chose the last second of it. But I realize it's heard to fathom THREE THOUSAND years of Empire for most people, including me. To put it in perspective, the Giza pyramids were older to Cleopatra, than she is to us. I digress, on to the gameplay... The game starts off with your character in an old tomb. It looks beautiful and the interpretation is just stunning. Of course, it feels very wrong to loot all the treasure out of the tomb. What about all those future archaeologists who would preserve these one-of-a-kind art treasures?!? Like most AC games, you get kind of a warm-up period before the majesty of the environment unveils itself. You start by running around Siwa, a dusty backwater village to explore and learn the mechanics of the game. The tutorial portion of the game is almost none, quite a contrast from the hours and hours of training wheel gameplay in AC III. I kinda wish the combat was explained a little bit better. My old strategy of button-mashing the attack button doesn't seem to work so well. Eventually, the game opens up and you enter Alexandria, the city that featured two of the greatest wonders of all-time; the Lighthouse and the Great Library. I get to climb up the Lighthouse? Yes, please! The map seems big, I'm 15 hours in and I haven't even seen a pyramid yet. Story-wise, I haven't got very far. I assume the Romans will show up at some point (with the most famous love triangle of all-time), but I haven't come across them yet. Like so many AC titles, I get too busy exploring and bettering my equipment, than focusing on the story at the start. There is crafting in this game, so be prepared for lots of hunting. I've played enough Ubisoft titles to see how their games kind of morph into each other. Origins includes an eagle you control, to do aerial reconnaissance of a target prior to going in. That's exactly like Far Cry Primal or Watch Dogs 2. The game definitely feels different than the previous PS4 titles of Unity and Syndicate. The franchise needed a reboot and I'm glad Ubisoft delayed this game by a few years to improve the features of this title. It was definitely needed after Syndicate gameplay got a bit stale. The environment is incredible. Ubisoft really nailed the period and has tons of background stuff you might barely notice, but suddenly you realize that you're in the middle of a tannery, or standing on a trireme. There's so many cool things the devs put in that just fly right on by. The biggest change in the game is the RPG and leveling up element. New weapons are constantly being introduced, and you level up by completing tasks, missions, etc. Enemies reveal their Level with a number over their head, so there are bases and forts that are off-limit until you attain that level. If you try, you will get your ass kicked (mea culpa). I didn't think the franchise really needed an RPG element and thankfully, it's not that involved. If you fall in love with a weapon, you can just upgrade it at a Blacksmith stand. I will continue to play this through the months of August and September, and will update if I come across something new or cool (which is likely). voodoo_eyes
@PerryToxteth I also ended up getting sdie-tracked a lot with all the different side quests. I think I finished the game at the 76ish hour mark. The DLCs then added another 20 or so hours to it (not worth the full price imo). Have you tried out the tour guide mode yet?

I have done 10-12 tours in the discovery mode so far. They pack some pretty good information in, I just wish it could have been incorporated into the regular game somehow. I liked in games past, when you encountered something significant, you could just hit the options menu to get the building's info. But I'm glad the included the mode for something different. Quick question- would it be beneficial to knock out some dlc play before progressing too far with the main game? I remember in a past AC game (might have been Unity), where you unlocked a sweet weapon at the end of a dlc. But of course, I had already platted the main game so there was really no use for it. Any goodies in Origins dlc to nab?

Any goodies in Origins dlc to nab? The DLC is end game content. You'll be asked, if you want to get auto-boosted to the recommended level (40 I think), Leaving it for last is the best option I'd say. There is plenty of good gear to be had playing through the base game. There is one type of side missions (I think they are a different colour) that are given to you by a merchant kid called Reda. Those always give very good rewards and usually are for your level at the time. He seems to sort of travel to the same cities/regions you do while progressing through the story, so keep an eye out for him. I sort of made it a habit of going wherever he showed up, even if it happened to be somewhat out of the way. voodoo_eyes
Nearing my 50th hour in Pillars of Eternity. Reached chapter 3 (final one afaik) and started the first of two DLCs, which I'm almost done with. Killed my first Dragon, and have found another one who I haven't been able to defeat yet. Still have around 15-20 side quests active at this point and have yet to explore a few areas. I also upgraded the stronghold to the max (needs a couple of days to finalise the last upgrade). Once that is done, it's hoping for a Legendary adventure to show up, so I can get the arguably most difficult trophy out of the way. Got two more companions as well, who are from the DLC. Encountered another bug, which I haven't found a fix for. The ranger class has an animal companion, however the animal disappeared after switching out party members and after swapping the ranger back in. This one is kind of bad, because a lot of the ranger's skills are related to the "pet". I'll probably finish up the first DLC on the weekend and maybe try to clear all the remaining side quests in the base game.
Psy-Tychist
So, I didn't get through the 10 games alotted as Papers Please and The Midnight Sanctuary didn't get played. But I did review 8 games for KYCX and I think that's not too bad all things considered. So what has happened after the event and has there been any more progress to the games from my KYC list. voodoo_eyes
I finally finished my first playthrough of Pillars of Eternity. Took around 70 hours with all the DLC. Unfortunately there have been a lot of crashes the further I got into the game, and the loading screens are kind of killer. Both of these might be less of an issue on a PS4Pro , I own a regular one though and it was a bit of a rough ride. It's still a for me, but objectively it's a due to the bugs and technical issues. I'm missing one final playthrough with less than 175 kills, which I'll postpone until further notice, as I'm tempted to make this my 400th plat. Meaning I will need to find 15 plats for filler until then. Some candidates might end up being games from previous KYC events, like Assassin's Creed Unity and Transistor. Finished the story and DLC in Unity, so most of it is mop up of collectibles, misc stuff, 100% sync and the co-op stuff. Transistor I'm about halfway through of my 2nd playthrough.
