So why are "crime simulators" (GTA) perfectly acceptable, then?

GTA wasn't "perfectly acceptable" at first, but ultimately crime and violence have become less taboo in entertainment since then.

Sorry to say for you, but I don't see kid touching ever getting to that point.

This is completely irrelevant to my argument.

The crux of your argument is "they aren't real so it's ok.

I'm guessing then everything needs to fit the Western world's percieved utopia of what artwork, entertainment, literature, etc. should be?

You remind me of those people who complained about a character being raped offscreen in a TV show simply because "rape is bad and the idea of it made me uncomfortable."

Not the point I'm trying to make. AJ's argument was that it causes people to do X, Y and Z.

For what it's worth... most games, including GTA, don't let you hurt kids.

EDIT: I guess the line being drawn is, if you're gonna do something, do it to adults lol.  If you have to ask why, don't bother.

Ok, I am done with this and the other thread.

My last comment will be your avatar is of the character Mathilda from Leon who is 12 years old but tries to enter into a relationship with an older man.

I just find that a funny connection considering what people here are trying to defend.

Did you even watch the movie? Or you did and just only remember that part and didn't understand the movie?

And I'm a big Natalie portman fan and the first movie I saw her in was The Professional in 1998 on VHS when I was 11 years old cause a friends parents had a video rental store. And i became a bigger fan cause of Star Wars Phantom Menace and Where the Heart is.

And my comment was towards censorship in general. Not just for Gal Gun, which I should have been more clear about, but I did post my opinions on a similar thread.

When I was a kid I got a Genesis instead of the SNES cause they censored my favorite game during that time which was Mortal Kombat. I am an adult, don't tell me what I can or can't play.. If I find it offensive, then I won't buy it. But don't take away my right to choose..

And the only games I have that have any sexual undertone is Dead or Alive 5 Plus (Vita), Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 (Switch) , Lollipop Chainsaw and Bayonetta.

It's not irrelevant. It's acceptable in Japan, where it originated. If they want to publish it in other markets, they have to abide by the local standards.

And I never said it causes people to do anything.  I said it's designed to stimulate certain urges (ie big boon anime girls causing arousal), so try again.

Yes, i have seen all of Luc Besson films. It is a great movie and an example of using subject matter like this to move forward a plot (as Mathilda is being forced to grow up quickly). It is in stark contrast to how these types of games use subject matter like that for pure fan service.

I just found it super ironic that you are in a thread where a group of people are trying to defend games that fetishized young girls and you have Mathilda as your avatar. It would be like trying to defend cocaine use and having an avatar of Tony Montana.

Day two of this conversation. People are trying to pretend a game like Gal Gun has any depth to it to justify their own perversions. They aren't playing it because you are squeezing underage girls guys! It's because of the super silly plot haha! Can't you see, haha! I personally don't care. If you buy and therefore support a game in which the core mechanic is the fetishization of young looking girls and in fact undressing them, you're a clown. Oh and I don't want you near me

To me this game is just ANIME LOGIC!

Its based in an academy and not a high school (For some reason on Wikipedia it says high school, but Gal Guns main site and other sources list it as an academy), nor do they list the age or year of birth of the characters, only what year they are in. Theyre either 1st year, 2nd year or 3rd year.

So we're supposed to assume they're all of legal age and are just in an academy and the definition of academy is a high school or college in which special subjects or skills are taught. So we're supposed to assume its a college academy, but they left it vague for people to use their imaginations.

I would say censor the game if they were specific and said if it was a senior high school/senior high school academy (which the age is 14/15 - 18yrs old) or if they listed the ages of the characters and they were underage.

Cause if they're censoring the game based on the characters looks.. then yeah.. lol

I'm sorry if this comes across a bit strange, but I think a lot of people are getting overly offensive or defensive; I'm going to say my piece, respectfully understand where others are coming from and hope that you notice you can agree, or disagree with my opinion and I will not harbour any ill will or preference towards you; it's important to talk about these things.

I first played Gal Gun 2 on the switch from a friend's recommendation and after playing it, I genuinely thought it was one of the dumbest games I'd ever played but I did enjoy it. Playing it allowed me to look into other game published by Pqube and introduced me to other games like Worldend syndrome which made me take visual novels seriously for the first time in my life, I even played Kotodama which just seemed like fanservice for the sake of fanservice, but the story was really dark and intriguing. Quite frequently, playing these games ended up having this intense shift in tone that Japanese games seem to be quite good at (see deadly premonition or literally any RPG from Japan the past couple of decades).

I also ended up trying Senran Kagura, which is something I would consider to be fun and I've picked up all PS4 titles, I'm genuinely happy with my purchases 9/10 times and these games all hit the 9 section (Kotodama was a little shallow to be fair).

I genuinely do think there is a stigma for playing these games, but I don't mind. I'm a grown man capable of making my own decisions and, enjoying games is something I've done for years, that isn't going to change because of somebody elses opinion, you should be comfortable to express your own, without feeling the need to buckle under someone elses thoughts, enjoy what you want to enjoy.

I spoke with my girlfriend about these games (no seriously, she's real and not a pillow) and she doesn't care, stating that she and I were together and, I'd look very silly trying to pursue a relationship of any kind with a video game character or worse, the disc the game came on. 7 years I've put up with her and vise-versa!

I do think that if you purchase games like Senran Kagura or Gal Gun not for it's gameplay and story, but for the slightly more lewd aspects, I think you need to take a step back and analyse what's going on in your life. It's not a dig, but you should be aware there is a line You do you, but make sure your choices to play this game don't turn into some awkward fetish or enjoyment outside of playing the game. If it comes to that, seek help and don't be afraid, there are charities and stuff like it out there to help you.

As for Sony and Microsoft's choice to not have the game on their system, that's fine.Developers need to be aware that their content may not be published on all platforms and that certain platforms may be concerned with what comes with publishing certain games, a good example would be to look at the 2015 game "Hatred". Companies are capable of making decisions and are aware of risks when it comes to this kind of thing. I believe that irrespective of what everyone else thinks of when they cry censorship, that the choice was correct for each company that chooses to make it.

Some of these games can also go to far in my opinion (Bullet girls phantasia) but if you are a grown man/woman/other capable of understanding and comprehending what you are purchasing, you are more than welcome to make said decision if you should or should not purchase a game, the above game included. I'm not here to judge you, I once saw Bjork live so I can't anyway.

Hope everyone's had a good start to the new year!

Damn I thought I was done with this thread but seeing as it hasn't been locked yet, I want to say this: I think this is probably the most level-headed take in the whole thread. Nice change of pace from the vitriol that has been spewed left, right and center. I don't agree with everything you said, but I'm with you 100% on how you conducted yourself in delivering your thoughts. Nice job.

Not far from the truth, sadly. I'd imagine you know how it feels.

A succinct and accurate summary! Honest thread title: "Gal Gun Remaster will not release on Xbox for some reason."

Yeah last year January was rough but for whatever reason, our summer (December to now) has had so much rain that there’s been records broken since 1989. Kinda chilly for a season that’s supposed to be known for heatwaves too.

If you claim to not care, why even write a paragraph in it?

I don't care what the reasons are for people playing this game*. Here I clarified that for you x. Also, please don't be that guy that confuses a reply with "care". It's one of the dumbest things you can say in a conversation.

Man, like... half the thread has already vocally disagreed with the "but her listed age is actually legal" argument by now. I almost have to commend your lack of attentiveness that made you decide to make that exact argument anyway.

But mine was detailed lol

Eh, anyways I'm done with this thread. Going back to play Mercernary.

I like the implication that I would want to be near you considering you seem to think anyone who finds interest in this game is a pedophile regardless of actual reasoning.

Your uncle shows you, when you are 10 years old, a hentai video where an older man is touching and squeezing a 10 year old character. You think that a 10 year child in real would not be affected by this?

Same with Gal Gun, if your uncle shows you he’s turning on teenage characters on a videogame when he’s an adult and you’re 16, I’m sorry but anyone would find this disturbing. It is obviously wrong and you wouldn’t want to sit next to your uncle again. Why? Because its simply fucking weird and creepy. It doesn’t matter if they’re pixels or not.

At this point, I'm less concerned about the porn and more about the fact that my uncle is showing porn to a 10-year old.
