Your review of Knee Deep is more fun than the actual game itself. If there were three games I wished I never played Knee Deep would be one of them. That game was so terrible. ?

wow, really?

I never would have imagined Knee Deep would makes someone's list of worst - don't get me wrong, I don't think it's without it's faults, but it never did anything I found offensively bad or anything  - at worst it was middle of the road at times - I've certainly played a lot worse (78 worse and counting, so far, in fact ?)

Out of interest - what would your other two be? (Bearing in mind, that if the word 'souls' appears in your answer, I will be escorting you from the premises... ?)

Kneep Deep just wasn’t for me. I thought the story was terrible. It tries to be funny but it’s not my type of humor at all. I couldn’t wait to be done with it.

Worst game I played? The Mysteries of Little Riddle. It’s a kids game that was one of the first episodic games on PSN. (I think) And I thought: ‘Cool, free trophies’ as the first episode was free. In the end it cost me €20 to get 100% in that game. ? This is the worst game I ever played.

If I have to name a third one I guess it would be Trials of the Blood Dragon. It’s because I love the Trials games but this was such a huge disappointment. It has some of the worst game mechanics and controls ever.

And speaking of Soulslike games. I will actually be playing one in the near future: Code Vein. I will start it together with @Arcesius. Some things can be done in coop in that game. It’s a mix of Soulslike and JRPG’s. So that might be the game for me to get a new perspective on Soulslike games.

Haha - trust me my friend - I am more than familiar with The Mysteries of Little Riddle - it's the current No.6 worst game on the list - and was actually the "Current Least Awesome" for quite a few of the early rounds of Scientific Ranking!

Man - I'm not a Trials guy at all (Joe Danger was as realistic as my Bike vs. World stunt games went ?) - but I know how much you and some of the guys love them, so I can only imagine how much of a misstep it must have been for you to rank it near your worst!

Intersting - I've heard that description about Code:Vein before - not sampled myself, but JRPG mixed with Souls in not something I'm opposed to...

Haha - unfortunately, it was done in round 1 - so the review is basically a sentence - it wasn't until rounds 5 or 6 that I just said "fuck it" and started doing full reviews!

Have you played 'Deadly Tower of Monsters' Dr. B?

I have not... though...

...I believe I may own it...

...yes, apparently I do - not sure if it was a PSPlus game, or just a purchasing cheque my wallet wrote that my game playing schedule couldn't cash - but apparently I do own it ?

It was a free PS Plus game ages ago. I just mention it because it sounds like it might be similar to knee deep in that it is presented as a low-budget 50s B-movie. You can see the strings attached to the monsters and parts of the set etc. The movie is narrated by the 'director' in the past tense as though he is recalling one of his 'masterpieces'. I remember it being fairly funny as the 'movie' is absolutely awful but the narrator sees himself as an under-appreciated genius. It's a short, easy game tha tI thought was actually not bad so might be worth having a look at in the future if you've got a few hours spare.

Huh - that actually sounds pretty neat - I need to check that out - I will bump it back up on my backlog list!

Part of the benefit/ curse of the PS4 to PS5 changeover, is all the folders I had of backlog stuff carefully organised went out the window ?, so now all I need to do is re-download to the PS5 to bump it right up in the queue - since I never remember otherwise!

Cheer mate ?

Can you create folders on the PS4 or do you use Excel or something? I have various spreadsheets of my backlog and uncompleted games but they aren't in a folder.

yeah, folders on Ps4 were a great add - think they added them after a year or so?

I suspect they might add the same functionality to the ps5 later on - especially since they have the add-on ssd thing now, but for the moment, it’s all just in one big game-bin ?

I know this probably won't affect your ranking of it, but Aabs Animals had half of the money earned from sales go to multiple animal charities in Japan, so there is a reason for this game to exist outside of looking at cute cats.

Also, SUPER. HOT. SUPER. HOT. PLEASE. ANALYSE. SUPER. HOT.

You know - I had heard that at the time, and was fairy sure it was true, but when I was writing that one up I couldn't actually find the name of the specific charity, and so couldn't 100% confirm it, so I just ended up leaving it off the review. It's a nice thing if that was the case though.

Absolutely my good man - added to the Priority Assignments list, with your name! ?

Awesome reviews! ? 150 hours into Persona 4; it's crazy how long it takes to beat games in this series, but it's the kind of game where you love playing it a 2nd time. I usually don't stack games but after finishing P5R I loved the thought of doing it all over again with the original P5 and it was a blast!

Considering the Persona 25th anniversary is just next month, here's hoping they port Persona 4 Golden to PS4! If they don't, I may just have to buy a Vita at one point... ?

Thank you mate!

You know - I have been toying with the notion of playing P5 post-P5R myself - I actually bought P5 at launch, but by the time I actually got around to starting it, the Royal one was out, and the bid 'deluxe' package happened to be on sale right as I was about to start it, so I ended up just stumping for that, and never regretted it for a second - but I do have both sitting on my system!

It's good hear that P5 is still great even after sampling the Royal version!

Absolutely - I'd play Golden again in a heartbeat - though the one that is missing in my history is Persona 3 - I know how much folks rave about it - and I do have in on the Vita, but if they announced any kind of big graphical remake, I'd likely hold off to make that my first experience of it!

Damn, that Aabs Animals review was some professional stuff xD well done, loved it!!

I would like to make another request if the science board can handle it: Batman Arkham Asylum :D I don't think I've seen it on the reviewed list yet.

About that one...best to not get your hopes up xD game's not bad, but it will be vastly improved by the co-op with @Arcesius. Not sure if it will improve your experience with the genre. I played the game for like 3 hours at someone else's house and I can't say I was terribly impressed by it.

Although the character creation screen is quite advanced not gonna lie :>

Huh - that's kinda weird that we've made it to over 200 games on the list without a single Arkham game on there!  ?

You're quite right, this outrageous situation cannot stand!

Arkham Asylum added to the Priority Rankings, with your name! ?

How did I not think to request this??

Thanks to both of you gentlemen for this exchange! I've been putting off the combat challenges for such a long time now.. it isn't the scientific review I deserve, but it's the scientific review I need.

My prescription - get a hold of a copy of Parappa the Rappa and play for 2-3 hours, then immediately switch and play the Arkham combat challenges - you will beat them all first time!

Remember:

Arkham =/= Brawler

and

Arkham =/= Character Action

in truth:

Arkham = Rhythm Game!

I am so annoyed by the truth of this statement right now? because for real, once you find the rhythm, Batman devolves into Dance Dance Revolution with the enemies' faces.

Right?!

It’s crazy! - Truth be told, the revelation came late to me - it was only when I came back to finally do the (ridiculous) community challenge pack for the third game that that notion clicked, but realising that was the only thing that finally pushed me over the edge and helped me get those last trophies done!

I platinumed Parappa a few months back!

Guess a revisit is in order... far be it from me to argue with a doctor, after all.

There is a Youtuber I watch from time to time called Erick Landon, who only plays JRPG’s, and he said this was the best JRPG of 2019. Therefore I’m excited to play this. I already know the battle system will be too slow for my liking. But it looks amazing, anime style is the best graphics style, and apparently it has a great story too. The coop is another bonus.

I downloaded the demo and then spend an hour in the character creation screen. When I finally created my character I deleted the demo again. They say the first boss is the character creation screen and I can see why. ?

Awesome stuff as ever mate - even if this comment is a little bit overdue.

I'm going to have to prioritise Knee Deep a little sooner than I thought now. I picked it up sometime last year, because I thought even if it didn't turn out to exactly be stellar, that I'd at least probably enjoy what they were trying. After reading that. I still definitely think that'll be the case. This bit might seem tacked on - but it's an Artifex Mundi related bit, so there's not a whole lot to say is there, Grim Legends seems like a series that might be worth delving into at some point. I'm glad there isn't any tacked on boss fights, because those are a pain in the arse.

You have at least one Doctor Who fan as a reader by the way - although strictly speaking, I'm way more of a fan of the show pre 2005 revival. Give me silly long scarfs, curly hair and teeth over gurning ninnies any day.

I hope they bring Persona 4 out again in some form, because outside of getting a Vita I don't really have a way to play it, it sounds really interesting. My only experience with Persona was with Persona 3, so it'd be nice to play another at some point.

I'll have to get The Bunker - I've been on the fence about that for a while, I like FMV games enough from what little I've played of them to want to play some more. The Bunker from what you said seems to do a lot the things right, that games of that genre need to do it. So that's at least encouraging.

Your trepidation with Returnal before it came out, kind of reminded me of my own about NieR: Automata - one of those times  where it just feels good to be wrong, right? It'd be a nice bonus to hear Miss Burnwood (I don't know about you, but I can't help but say that in 47's voice), looking forward to picking that up whenever I manage to get a PS5. Not that I've particularly made a big effort, as tempting as it is, I have things I need to save my pennies for haha ?
