I've seen a lot of challenges going on these past few years. Usually they are cool ideas, but none really interested me to the point of really starting them.

This one is right up my alley! I consider myself a variety gamer, I like to try different genres, not only for the video game culture but also for the challenge and to discover my limits when going for a platinum. For example, a 9/10 difficulty Platformer will probably be easier to me than a 5/10 Fighting game.

 

Some personal details when I created my list:

• I already have multiple games completed for some of these genres, so I just chose one to add.

• Not only I'm going for the platinum, but also for the 100%.

• I've filled the genres I'm missing with the games I'll probably go for. Some of these might change, in case something better comes up.

• Most of the games have very rare/ultra rare platinums.

• If we are talking about genres and variety, it would only make sense to have at least 1 game of each console/platform. This includes PS3, PS4, PS5, PS Vita, PS VR2 and Playlink (smartphones). I'm going to open an exception for PS VR and only play the most recent one.

 

This challenge might take me at least 1 or 2 years to complete, but I won't forget it! I will keep updating the list until I finish everything.

Also, I accept suggestions for the ones I don't know yet below.

Enjoyed it, do first playthrough without a guide, look at everything,  take photos of everything and you should end up with most of the collectables first go.

Yeah IMDB does drugs quite often when assigning genres lol Gran Turismo 7 is another non fiction.

It just took me 15 years to the day to get 100 total platinum trophies. That means it’s time to focus on some platinum challenges lol! I have my own personal challenges in my signature, but I was thinking of a genres one and it’s cool that this challenge was already created! Using IGDB is a good way to have an objective basis. It’s just weird that some genres from the PSN Store aren’t included (like Graphical Adventure), nor video game specific genres like Metroidvania or Soulsborne. But I’m still excited to complete this nonetheless. I’ve tried to highlight my earliest and most meaningful platinums, while trying to showcase variety.

I've earned a couple more UR plats since my last post. First off was Bound for the Mystery genre. This is one of those plats that is not nearly as hard as the percentage makes it seem. The game was on PS+ and it wasn't a great game, so a ton of people started it but never got anywhere. You can even complete a whole playthrough without earning a single trophy. Secondly I just finished Moonlighter for the Business genre. It's a charming Zelda 1/roguelite game where you run a shop and can sell the items you find in the dungeons. The game has a few unnecessarily grindy trophies, but luckily you can afk the 10k kills.

 

I also did a double check on all my UR genres and figured out I could move things around to get an additional one since Rogue Legacy has the Historical tag. In the process of looking up UR games for genres I was missing, I discovered Persona 4 Golden no longer has the Educational tag... which is fair. All in all I'm at 37/44 overall and 31/44 URs now.
