Was looking at UR options for my gaps. And it doesn't look like there are any Ultra Rare platinums for Pinball.

There are just 3 Very Rare plats, one of which only has 12 players, so rarity would fluctuate a lot if people started playing it.

Demon's Tilt (7.72%)

SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classic (9.47%)

I'll say it here, if anyone platinums Pirates Pinball I will totally count it as Ultra Rare for this challenge. That game is 10/10 difficulty, only reason it's not UR is because only extreme Pinball enthusiasts buy it.

There are a few genres with only a few options. Obviously Pinball doesn't have any, but Point-and-click is also very limited. I think the only options are Shadowgate and We. The Revolution. Romance is essentially limited to Catherine. And while 4X has the fewest games on the site, at least a lot of them are UR.

I only have 7 UR genres left (4X, Card & Board Game, Educational, Point-and-click, RTS, Tactical, and Visual Novel) and it's challenging finding games I want to play.

I highly recommend checking out They Are Billions. It is a really fun and pretty accessible UR RTS. The main difficulty comes from the game not wanting you to make and reload saves during missions, but that can be easily circumvented with a little save upload trickery ;)

Oh and also you'll want a keyboard and mouse - it is almost unplayable with a controller, but 95% of the game supports KB/M aside from a couple of weird menuing issues.

This was actually the RTS game I was considering! That's good to hear that it's accessible, since the only RTS I've ever played is Halo Wars. I don't have a keyboard and mouse to use, so hopefully I can fumble through it on controller anyway.

Well, I'm here to throw my hat in the ring. I have most genres covered already, with only a few missing. Here is the list.

I'm only missing:

4X: Probably Minecraft, I guess?

Business: Dave the Diver, which is apparently going to be free on PS + soon and looks like a blast.

MOBA: N/A

Non-Fiction: Uggggggggggggggh, most of these are sports games. Only possibility I see right now is 1979 Revolution, so I'll keep an eye out for a sale on that.

Pinball: I've heard Pinball Heroes suggested, while Demon's Tilt and Sega Genesis Classics also look like possibilities.

RTS: For some reason LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is included here, and I was already about 66% of the way through the trophies, so I guess this is the play.

4X:

Action: Asura’s Wrath

Adventure: Monster Hunter: World

Arcade: Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection

Business:

Card & Board Game: Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire (*whistles innocently*)

Comedy: Okami HD

Drama: Nier: Automata

Educational: RPG Maker MV (Educational? Well, I guess I learned that I suck at making RPGs)

Erotic: Legends of Talia: Arcadia (*whistles innocently again*)

Fantasy: Dark Souls III

Fighting: Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 Full Burst (THAT GAME TITLE HAD TOO MANY SYLLABLES! APOLOGIZE!)

Hack and slash/Beat 'em up: Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix

Historical: God of War

Horror: Bloodborne

Indie: Hades

Kids: Psychonauts

MOBA: N/A

Music: Metal: Hellsinger

Mystery: The Sexy Brutale

Non-fiction:

Open world: Elden Ring

Party: LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

Pinball:

Platform: Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Point-and-click: Tales from the Borderlands

Puzzle: Return of the Obra Dinn

Quiz/Trivia: Alice: Madness Returns (No idea why this is in Quiz/Trivia, but I'll take it.)

Racing: Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition

Real Time Strategy (RTS):

Role-playing (RPG): Final Fantasy VI

Romance: Haven

Sandbox: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Science fiction: BioShock

Shooter: Doom

Simulator: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy

Sport: Saturday Morning RPG (This being in Sport makes even LESS sense, but once again...I'll take it)

Stealth: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Strategy: Mass Effect 2

Survival: Fallout: New Vegas

Tactical: Dragon Age: Inquisition

Thriller: The Wolf Among Us

Turn-based strategy (TBS): Final Fantasy VII (another placement that seems a tad suspect, but whatever)

Visual Novel: Coffee Talk

Warfare: Far Cry 4

I said I wasn't sure about going for it, but I took down the MOBA genre with Switchblade! The game is mostly dead, but there are a few dedicated players with very high ranks. I'm not sure what has kept them playing the game so long. If you want to go for it, I highly recommend using the Firebox vehicle since it has a very strong R1 attack and the L1 ability lets you avoid damage and run away. Once you learn how the AI bots behave, you can begin to exploit them to get easy wins and kill streaks. That said, the trophy for winning a match perfectly is still pretty tough. You can't rely on your teammates to reliably kill mobs, so you end up having to play very strong defense and hope your partners can push fast enough to win.

This completion bumps me to up to 37/45 URs!

I love this, what a great idea for a challenge! Though it has brought to my attention just how scuffed the genre designations are for some games. Pyre, for example, is 50% visual novel, 50% sports game... somehow managed to not get assigned either genre. Oh and don't even get me started on the "non-fiction" tag, there is just no logic in what is or isn't tagged in that list.

Anyway, count me in!

Oh boy, thanks for the heads up! So it turns out that IGDB does, in fact, consider Pyre a Visual Novel. Guess I'm gonna be scouring that site today huffing copium about other hidden classifications XD

Ok, I might be pushing my luck a bit here, but while searching for a potential UR "Kids" entry, I see that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix is listed under "Kids" theme.

HD 1.5 Remix is the umbrella name for the first three KH games that were remastered. Those three games were Kingdom Hearts (not UR), Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (UR) and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (no plat). The umbrella title for those three games (which I have 100%'ed all three) is "Kids", but the individual games are not. What's the ruling there?

@Pots3k You can get the tags from IGDB pulled into PSNP if you post the games in the Update a Trophy List thread. When someone initially mentioned Switchblade for MOBA, I went through IGDB to see if anything else was missing with the MOBA tag and found a couple more.

I think the Quiz/Trivia tag for Alice: Madness Returns is funny too. I could totally see the justification for removing it from IGDB, but I'm not about to go do that just to ruin your lists haha.

I cant think of a logical way to rule that so ill just make an executive decision that they can all be kids genre lol

I've completed the Quiz/Trivia categorie with Tibetan Quest: Beyond The World's End, a typical Artifex Mundi game but this time it was classified as Quiz/Trivia, different from the others I've played. Honestly, I didn't see any big differences but I'm grateful to whoever made this call 😁. Now I'm only missing a Card & Board game.
