Platinum #275: Final Fantasy II

Got the second of six Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters done last night This one was much more guide heavy since it has a ton of missables, but the guide was so well written it took a lot of the frustration out of that process. My wife and I recently had our 4th child so I've not been playing much and that's why updates are slower on here. It'll continue like that for a bit. Next up, for real this time, FFXVI. I finally did beat it, but I still gotta do all the side quests and clean up.

Hey @Rebourne07. Congrats on your fourth child! How you fit in any gaming is a bit of a mystery to me haha. 

 

This has possibly been answered before, but is MetaGame.Guide a legit site for difficulty scores? I stumbled across the site recently and some of their scores seem quite generous – not to mention flexible (they do a lot of .5 scores, so you can choose where you put them).

Yeah it counts, i've used it myself. It has been the only rating i found for Xeno Crisis to put it as 10/10 on list 1

Sweet, thanks! Yeah, I've seen a lot of pretty high difficulty ratings on there ...

 

I can bump most of my games up by at least a point by using it. Hand of Fate 2 is a 6/10 on PlatPrices, but 8.5 on MetaGame Guides. I mean, it's a tricky game, but being able to use it as a 9/10 is pretty crazy. Dead Cells is also 8.5. A few others. 

 

Edit: In fact, I think I can probably fill out my first list by using games that are ranked far higher at MetaGame Guides. It feels a bit gross though... haha

Yeah It's amazing how different the ratings sometimes are. Platprices.com is another website which presents rather high ratings too. It's worth checking too

Yeah, tell me about it. I recently got the Plague Inc: Evolved platinum. Having looked around, I can place it as either 3, 4, 5, 7 or 8 out of 10 depending on which site I go with!

I probably didn't test myself as much as I could have. I don't think Dead Cells or Isaac can really be counted as 9 or 10 out of 10. Especially now Dead Cells has Assist Mode (although I only used that right at the end to clear up trophies). The most difficult trophies on Isaac can also be cheesed – it's just a matter of getting a bit lucky with RNG.

Re-doing my list almost entirely so it consists of just games I already own as a way to clear some backlog. Also I change my mind a lot so I'll probably just leave it blank aside from ones I actually finish. That said, I did Toem this morning and it was delightful. Good start I think.

This will be my first time doing this sort of challenge, and didnt really know of them, but I feel like I've been training for it my whole life. Video games have gotten me through tough times, and the joy I get from playing games on the highest difficulties is a big part of why it's my favorite hobby.

I'm starting late, but I'm confident I'll not only beat this list, but start another one altogether once I do.

2/10: The Quarry 

 

A simple and thrilling game that I thoroughly enjoyed. Until Dawn was great fun and Supermassive didn’t disappoint with The Quarry either. Chances are if you’ve watched any of the “Scream” or “I Know What You Did Last Summer” movies (“Wrong Turn” and “Cabin Fever” also comes to mind) and enjoyed any of them, then you’ll probably like The Quarry too. Unfortunately the nature of how these kinds of games go will likely lead them to have a grindy trophy list to some extent, often forcing you to rewatch some of the same scenes several times that can get pretty dull. Other than that, The Quarry was a great time overall, even still felt a bit fresh during the 2nd playthrough because of the anticipation towards the outcomes I’ve yet to see.

Is it possible to get Jack of All Trades and One Trick Pony on the same list? Asking because 6 of my games share the adventure genre ?

Ended up having to change Far Cry 6 for Endling as my 3/10 game because it's taking me forever to get through the game considering how big the maps are and I wasn't enjoying it at all, and considering I already have to get through a million hours in RDR, it just isn't the optimal choice if I want to finish this list at some point lol

Update! Got my 2/10 in The Forgotten City! An excellent first person exploration game where you utilize a time loop to learn more about people in a particular city and ultimately save them. Really great game best gone into not knowing much more than that. 

Dunno what I'll do for 3/10 yet but I know some options available to me. This is so fun!

i going to create a list cause i have way to many games already i just need to look from the difficultie of the games i got but i have finished some games this year and i have read that i can use those games for this challenge once i see the difficultie from my finished games and the badges that i normally have earned from the games i have finished i start to understand how the event this one works

I've finished Returnal tonight and what a rush. It raised my heart rate repeatedly and made me feel like I had done some physical exercise.

 

I'm not getting any younger so don't tend to play fast paced shooters and I'll be honest I struggled initially getting past the first boss. But something about it just grabbed me and didn't let go.

I've never had an issue with RNG in games and like the style like this and Hades where you progress and learn through failure. So even working through finding the collectables at the end was still enjoyable.

After 8 years I finally went back to OlliOlli2. It was not easy and my Fingers where on the edge to get broken, but after some practice and patient I was able to beat those challenges. It even is now my rarest UR platinum. Never thought i get something rarer as Trackmania Turbo to be honest.
