Sony changed the maximum “trophies in a row” pop up notification

For autopops this might prove nice but when I am expecting several trophies to pop at one time it could be disconcerting. While not often, I have popped 3+ trophies for beating a game, such Uncharted beating it on Crushing and stacking all the difficulty trophies or in The Last of Us when I popped everything from Easy+ to Grounded+, missing out on all those dings would have been somewhat heartbreaking.

I recently played Assault Suit Leynos and in mission 2 it is possible to pop 8 trophies at the result screen (trophies only pop after a mission is over). I knew that not all trophies pop up on screen (anymore) however when I checked PSNP afterwards, only 3 trophies showed as earned and I thought I messed sth up. I updated my profile again and still only 3 trophies unlocked. Couple minutes later all 8 trophies were shown as earned with correct timestamps. 

 

It wasn't a big deal but still a minor annoyance when such thing wasn't an issue before.

I find it to be an inconvenience if you’re playing games where multiple trophies will pop simultaneously. Not knowing if you earned a trophy until after viewing the trophy list doesn’t sound appealing. If you earned a trophy, it should always be displayed at some point through a notification. Such an odd thing to change imo.

I've had this happen. The achievement flag trips but doesn't get announced properly so the actual unlock is delayed. I've had the other version where the unlock notification pops up on the XMB or in the trophy list itself.

I had this happen to me with one of the breakthrough gaming titles on ps4, the last few trophies including the platinum unlocked but never registered that ‘ding’ or trophy image to pop up in game

it wasnt until i checked my trophies to see if i missed something when noticed i was already finished

I hate this now you have to check and see if you got every trophy great ...

If you've earned 10 trophies in a row, they should all pop in order. The more in a row, the higher the rush right?

 

I am surprised it isn't the opposite, especially since it is the opposite of gambling theory.

 

You want your customer to have more jackpots, the flashier, the more bings, and clanks and noises and flashy lights, before and during your hit. Hasn't Sony seen a Pachinko machine before?!

 

Like imagine if you won jackpot at a casino in Las Vegas, 7 times in a row!

 

But you only got the jackpot once, and all that was given was the money flying out silently from a printed cheque.

 

When people win the jackpot, they want the machines crashing out with coins, all over the floor, balloons flying in the air, the alarms in the building sounding off, fireworks popping out your arse!

Well maybe not the last one, but you get what I mean.

 

I'd welcome something like this on spam notifications, but on Playstation this is not necessary. I can't remember the last I popped many trophies at once, but I would be quite sad about this.
Maybe if you didn't allow such shit games that can pop so many trophies at once, and auto pops then this kinda of thing wouldn't be so much of an issue to even need fixing...

It's a bit inconvenient when playing games like dead by daylight where I am going for multiple trophies in 1 game. I wonder how much confusion this has caused

Every trophy still stacks and pops on PS3 so at least it's untouched there (i presume on Vita too).

When finishing the game, on top of the trophy for doing so I was supposed to pop 4 challenge trophies that had requirements spanning the whole playthrough (no cars, no guns, no smokes, no drinks) and when they didn't show up I was very confused. Thankfully going to the trophy list confirmed everything had actually unlocked, but it felt super weird at the moment.

 

If this is an intentional change, it's a bloody stupid one that absolutely no one asked for.

I just finished Kona the other day and the ending trophy and 3 of trophies you mentioned all had notifications. Not sure what was the threshold for turning off the notifications but 4 is not the number.

Like I said, I obtained 5 trophies at once, not 4 - the ending trophy (A Mari Usq Ad Mare) + the four challenge trophies (Onwards on Foot!, Firearms Registry, Prohibition, Pink Lungs).

 

Also, depending on when "the other day" was you might have finished the game before whichever update it was that messed things up.
