About Me

Hello fellow trophy hunters and gamers,

I'm a 32 year old teacher entering my 10th year in the profession. I teach Adapted Physical Education, working with students of a wide age range with disabilities. I am a somewhat new dad, with 2 children ages 3 and 2. They are the best thing that's ever happened to my life and the worst thing that's ever happened to my gaming time...

I have been gaming as long as I can remember, growing up my 2 older brothers had the NES, SNES, Sega, eventually the PS1. As I got older I started to have my own systems and games and remember my dad getting me the N64, which I liked a lot but was not a fan of that monstrosity they called a controller. I think my most beloved systems from my childhood were my Gameboy Color and then eventually my Gamecube. remember the first time I played on a Gameboy, it was a neighbor kids fatboy and he was telling me how he couldn't catch a Clefairy in Pokemon. I lied and told him I knew how to do it and he let me borrow it. I played so much Pokemon from then on and eventually convinced my mom to get me my own (and I did return his Gameboy, I also caught a Clefairy for him but quickly and accidentally released it, oops, sorry kid!)

I spent a lot of late nights playing my Gameboy color and collecting 'mons in the dark with that sweet little light attachment, which eventually lead me to playing hours and hours of Animal Crossing, Pikmin, etc on my Gamecube as well.

Despite a strong sense of nostalgia and connection to the Nintendo market, my round-about way of coming into the fold with Playstation and trophy hunting was chasing down achievements in World of Warcraft. I spent far too much time in Azeroth and most of my interests with gaming seem to still stem from that (and Pokemon, I suppose). When I received my own PS3 as a gift (a second-wave Fatboy that is still running to this day) I didn't stumble upon trophies at that point, I mostly played sports games and random cheapie games to fill out a library, similar to how me and my buddies played on the PS2.

When I finally did figure out the trophy system, I was immediately hooked and went through several alt accounts chasing down completion percentage, milestones, names, etc until I finally created this one in 2015 and stuck with it. I've managed to pull off some pretty good completions, have done a few good milestones, and continue to attempt to cross off an endless backlog (that I don't think is really attainable) amidst server closures and delistings. I've managed guilds/clans in several different titles and really enjoy that aspect of camaraderie but also do not have the time I wish I did for it.

Outside of gaming, I try to be present with my kids fully and enjoy being out in nature as much as possible and sadly, also like to 'trophy hunt' using a phone app called "Seek" which catalogs and identifies different plant, animal, and insect species. I really enjoy finding and learning about mushrooms and insects specifically. I also enjoy writing and reading, when I find time, but that's very very difficult.

I'm also a huge baseball fan (unfortunately the team I enjoy the most is the Chicago White Sox) and used to love all baseball related games. That statistical part of baseball probably is easily aligned with this hobby as well, not surprisingly.

I have plans to eventually create one of those threads for my own gaming ambitions and accomplishments too!
