archangeltw_
Me and some friends are really puzzled by the number of shovelwares. At first we assume some guy can’t get 1k plat because we don’t believe there are so many shovelwares, we are wrong. Can one get into world rank 500 or even 300 with only shovelwares?

Shovelware currently accounts for over 75% of the total games that have ever released on PSN. Here's a good way to figure out how far you can currently go on shovelware alone: In April 2020, #1 leaderboard spot holder Ikemenzi earned his 1,500th platinum trophy. By contrast, he (or his team idk) has earned just over 2,200 platinums in the calendar year 2023 and the year still has 10 weeks left. I think that says plenty. 14

Popular Post Jeanolt
If you check the games section and select "show showelware" it adds 78 new pages, or 3900 platinums. Earning all of those platinums, without counting bronze or any other kind of trophies, will put you at the #2382 spot in the global leaderboard. If you add the classic 11 gold trophies that most shovelware has, you would be at #281 WORLDWIDE. This number could be lower, since not every shovelware gives 1290 points, but it's the standard for most of them. So yes, you can get in the top 500 or lower only playing these games. Was just answering the question being asked, you don't have to be a dick every time someone tries to interact with you. The exact number is impossible for me to get with delistings being a thing and concrete game info on shovelware being very limited, but from what I see, easily over 5,000 total plats in play that could arguably be called shovelware. 3

Popular Post TheDarkKratos
Like it or not - Shovelware is here to stay, regardless of what anyone thinks, this trend will not end anytime soon, if ever. I personally have done my fair share of Shovelware games, but not because I love them. Only because I can. I play any and everything. From -1 minute games to 100 hour+ games. Playing a broad spectrum of games is far more fun than just trying to peak the leaderboards. That in itself is boring, unless that's your primary goal in gaming. What ever floats your boat I guess. I love topics about shovelware, auto-pops, regional stacking, glitches... blah blah blah. They are always entertaining. Sony don't GAS about what some players think when it comes to certain titles in their shop. They are only in place for one reason - to make money. That's all any business is concerned about. And seeing as Shovelware is doing just that, making them money, don't expect these games to stop being produced any time soon. Infact, I predict by this time next year, there will be over 6000 Shovelware titles available, if not more. I remember what an uproar My Name Is Mayo caused when it hit the PSN shop. It was hillarious. Now look at what's available. Lmao People who only platinum these shitty games are fine by me. They don't devalue your personal trophy achievements in any way. It's like saying a movie remake ruins the superior original. It doesn't. It's up to people as a whole to differentiate the difference. Nobody should feel insulted by Shovelware whores. Your only real competiton is yourself. Not anyone else. Edited October 14, 2023 by TheDarkKratos 14 1

You could definitely be top 300 only using shovelware. There's thousands of them, with multiple stacks too. Although it's not fun, I've done shovelware a bit and I really didn't enjoy anything about it except for the fact funny truck was my 50th platinum and is permanently displayed on my milestones. Just thought that was funny to me. 8 minutes ago, KenjiCBZ said: I've seen people with literally over 100.000 Trophies and 3000 Platinums, some guys really know no shame. 😂 I mean unless they have financial incentives to do this I really don't understand why anyone would do this

mad-man-matty-22
you could easily reach like 200-300 platinums in one single day with enough money and dedication, just keeping at that you would soon see the numbers fly past the 1000s

I heard a story once of a Brazilian businessman who had loads of the folding stuff, but barely any free time to play games. So, he paid someone (a lot of money) to legitimately play all of his games for him. My question is - What's the point of that? It seems that playing games for fun is a thing of the past for many gamers. Lol... Edited October 14, 2023 by TheDarkKratos
