Does it include the "MGS Integral" content and is it necessary for the VR missions trophy?

Yes when you boot up the game you have a choice between either playing the OG MGS or the integral version.

If you choose the OG then you have to do the VR missions in the 'Special Missions' Game in the menu

Has anyone tried the VR training in the game disc for the trophy besides the VR disc?

I did all 31 VR Training missions in the base game and a trophy did pop for completing  1 VR missions but then i had to do the other 300 in the VR Special Missions. The survival one is brutal and I am not sure if you need it for the trophy

nice tips bro

EDIT: looks like there actually were some tips

My tips are just superficial, I thought about writing a full guide for it because by the time you have the platinum you know the game like the back of your hand but CBA

what i meant is that originally i thought you had forgot to add any tips but then realised they were in white font.

Just curious, how come your profile is private?

Thanks for this mini guide though. Look forward to watching your video 😃

Just because I am working on a video for my 500th platinum and I don't want any to be able to see what the game is until i've finished the video haha

once it's public i'll be able to show I was the first to plat the game... hopefully

Did you do it on the OG MGS or the Integral one?

Also, which VR missions do we need to complete?

I did it on the OG MGS.

You have to do the VR training missions in the 'special missions' game which you can pick from the MGS1 main menu

I also did the all the VR missions in the OG MGS game too first so not sure if they count towards all of them

Hey All,

I recently earned the platinum trophy for MGS 1 and I thought I would share a quick guide on how to get the platinum

Time to Completion: 30-50 Hours (Skill dependant)

Difficulty - 8/10

Stages to platinum

Stage 1

Beat the game on hard and get the Stealth ending, so give in to the torture (make a backup save just after beating sniper wolf fight 1)

Stage 2

Speed Run on hard using Stealth to get Fox name Code Name

The requirements for this are, beat the game in under 3 hours, 0 continues, less than 25 kills, less than 4 alerts, bare in mind there is scripted kills, 11 I think but can't be too sure.

You can make as many saves as you want for this but bare in mind that saving the game costs about 20 seconds.

Stage 3

Reload first hard save just before the torture and beat the game to unlock the bandana trophy or do a full run on easy to get the bandana trophy.

Stage 4

complete all 300 VR Training Missions

Stage 5

Clean-up any trophies you missed

Here are some tips

  1. Get the thermal goggles the first time you enter the facility (you need to enter through the top entry point)

  2. Flash bangs will help you catch Ocelot Revolver

  3. Do not use chaff grenades for the Cyber Ninja (Gray Fox), he gets his sword out and it is so much trickier

  4. You can defeat Sniper Wolf’s 2nd boss fight very easily using the stinger and nikita

  5. Do not try and get the bandana trophy during the speedrun as it adds about 10 mins to your speed run time, unless you’re feeling very confident

  6. The credits are 8 minutes long so you must factor that in to your speed run time

  7. Metal Gear Rex’s first phase can be beaten really easily by using Chaff grenades

  8. There is 3 parts of the game you need Stun grenades for the speed run, climbing the tower, after you have rappelled down the building (for the guards on the walkway) and for Metal Gear Rex’s second phase

If you want to watch a video of me getting the platinum trophy, and avoid the mistakes I did, then you can check it out here.

You have a max of 80 saves. If you go over it, you'll be locked in the Hippotamus codename.

Any difference between VR missions and Special missions for the trophy? PSN downloaded VR automatically instead of the special missions.

Completed all VR missions (not Special missions) but have no VR trophy poped up? WTF Konami is doing?

Why do you have to do the first playthrough on hard? Can’t you do it on easy?

If you want the special items for use in Fox rank, you need to do it on hard. The special unlocked items do not carry over between difficulties and fox rank requires the hard difficulty (unless you're playing the jp version from what I've read). If you wanna get used to the game first then sure you can run through on easy first but then that means an extra playthrough.
