Physical version comes with version 1.00

Heads up, the physical copy (version 1.00) has none of the censorship the day one patch has imposed. The patch reduces gore and the blood splatter on Eve and it removes what's now known as the 'Hard-R controversy.' What is this you might ask? There's graffiti painted on walls throughout the game saying "Hard," but one "Hard" graffiti appears next to a neon sign saying "R shop," referencing an in game character named Roxanne. Somehow this was offensive because certain people were suggesting that it's a reference to a racial slur, forcing Shift Up patch it likely to the pressure from Sony.

No clear reason that I could find for this being locked, so I've unlocked it. As always if the thread spirals out of control with arguments, name-calling, etc it could be locked again though

That's good news! I didn't get what all the fuss was about, until I figured it has something to do with a n-word.  Most people don't get it. Just because certain small % of people feel offended by the graffiti, that doesn't mean everyone else is offended. You don't like it, don't play it then. It's simple as that. Fuck censorship!

They also censored several outfits. Supposedly you can have two dudes assfucking or bestality with a bear and similar explicit stuff on this platform, but not outfits that are too revealing. With the outfit censorship, graffiti getting censored and blood/gore effect getting censored, what they did definitely falls under false advertising given that it was recently announced there would be no censorship, unlikely that anything will happen though, can't make this shit up.

The idea that there are people that think removing the hard r reference is bad is utterly baffling to me.

Not wanting people to remember their game as the "hard r" game is perfectly sensible.

 

The lessened amount of blood seems weird, if it is just for Japan as I have seen speculated, why is it a worldwide patch.

I am glad I got the disc. After fans organised the https://www.change.org/p/free-stellar-blade petition, gamers are posting screenshots of them cancelling PS+ subscriptions on Twitter. 

 

Foolish decision by Sony. Their HQ lives in a bubble isolated from the world and target audiences if they cannot fathom repercussions. I’ve left feedback on their blog post about this https://blog.playstation.com/2024/04/25/stellar-blade-new-game-plus-mode-available-on-launch-april-26/

The placement seems completely unintentional to me, but in the end it did literally say hard r, a very common way to refer to the gamerword online.

Not many companies would want their product to be associated with a thing like that.

 

You're free to play the unpatched version if you really can't live without it though.

I'm playing online games for more than a decade and never seen/heard anyone using it single time and learned what it means from news about this censorship.

Ah censorship, one of my favorite game features on modern gaming. Can't wait for it to be sold as DLC or as part of special editions

The Hard R was a maskarade people... Don't be fooled. 

 

Why would people be bothered by a grafitti? What happend was much much more... The Gore was reduced and blood splatter. Also, like 7 or 8 costumes were censored too. They cover much more of Eve then the original designs. 

 

These early physical copies with the extra outfit dlc on them are with older patch. Afterwards even Physical will have the newer versions of the game printted on them and there will be nothing you can do. 

 

Get these early copies and you will get the uncensored outfits. The downside is that you will not experience the newer options and improved gameplay and also NG+. 

Personaly what i will do is play the first playthrough on unpatched and then the rest patched on NG+ and get the trophies on NG+. 

 

Edit: Censorship is shitty... In whatever form. This was a slip on their part because the physical editions were supposed to have the newer patch the reviewers had. And those would be the outfits "from the beggining" and no one would bitch about them, because no one would see the earlier designs. Since, let's be honest they are already sexy enough. But regardless they messed up... And this is exploding all over and the game just came out a day ago. 

 

I had a delay in the shipping of my copy and will only get it monday, but even with all this crap, i am still excited to play this, i loved the demo and the gameplay was awsome to me. Also the vibe i got from it was really good. 

 

All this could have been avoided and it's unfortunate, Stellar blade and Shift up did not deserve this. To me, Sony is to blame (like always... If it weren't for the trophies...).

Been reading the drama on twitter last night, been playing the game for 15 hours and totally love it, sad that people don't really pay attention of the good things nfrom the patch, better combat, new game plus, new skills, new outfits, and if you wanna look at a 'sexy' character there is plenty to see.
I personally don't mind the changes on some fits, but they have to stop the censorship on a 18+ game, it's technically an adults game, who cares about some 3D sideboob, or some blood, there is plenty of games with blood or tits out, so i don't really understand why it had to be changed, it's only shooting yourself in the foot, cause we all know how dramatic twitter can be with their #Freestellarblade crap.

It honestly baffles me that anyone would go digital edition for a game while knowing that certain people were already offended by it . It's 2024.

 

I knew it'd happen but even I didn't expect day one. I wonder how this game will look by 2025 after a year of patches while I still have my physical copy.

Thanks for the heads up. Currently installing my physical copy, however it says it's version 1.002.000, so is it censored or uncensored ?

So I'm not sure how I can get the game in version 1.0, should I completely disable the PS5's internet connection ? Or is the disc version ALREADY 1.002 ?

Really tired of that censorship, I wouldn't have bought the game if I had known about it beforehand. F'ing Sony douchebags.

I installed 1.00 successfully from disc while connected online. If you're still seeing 1.02, delete it then eject disc. Idle PS5 for 5-10 minutes, then (ensuring automatic update is off) restart console then re-install. You're supposed to see 29 GB.

Just a heads up sony has now stopped the disc from working unless you update it. Even if you go offline.

 

Don't know how they did it but there was a system update the other day.
