Popular Post Senbon Kaguya
Open world, crime-themed Yakuza 5 is finally getting a Western release, Sony and Sega announced today at the PlayStation Experience Event in Las Vegas. It will release on the PlayStation 3 via PSN in 2015. The game's Western debut follows Sony's #Buildingthelist campaign, which asked fans to name third-party games they wanted to see most on PlayStation platforms. Director of Third Party Production at SCEA Gio Corsi said Yakuza 5 was one of the most requested games. Sega and Sony also announced that Yakuza 4 and Yakuza: Dead Souls will be available to download from PSN starting Sunday. The last Yakuza game to be released outside of Japan was Yakuza 4 in 2011. Yakuza 5, which features a new graphics engine, follows Kazuma Kiryu and four other protagonists in their struggles and conflicts in the seedy underbelly of Japan’s Yakuza underworld. Sony and Sega didn't say whether Yakuza: Ishin, the first PlayStation 4 game in the series, will release outside of Japan. Personally, I'm really excited about this, and I'm sure other people are too! Forgot to mention that it'll be in summer 2015! Yakuza 5 Update! Yakuza 5 release date set to Fall 2015 - Official Site of the series return, with a new release window for the next game. After a long wait, with barely no updates since the announcement of the game back in December 2014, we finally have some news about Yakuza 5. Before, it was announced that the game would be released in the West in ‘Summer 2015′. Today, the franchise official website has opened again, after it has been shut back in 2013. In Yakuza 5 page, there is a new release date, set for ‘Fall 2015′. There are no new details, trailers or info, besides the new release date. It’s unclear the reasons for the date being pushed, but this was kinda expected. It’s worth to note that the game already receive his ESRB rating, a ‘Mature 17+’ one. You can access the series official site here. TojoHQ opinion: While nobody likes a game release date to be pushed, it’s way better this way than to rush things over, get content cut, like what happened with Yakuza 3, and a release with almost no marketing, resulting in poor sales performance. If SEGA, and Sony, wants to make Yakuza 5 a success, they need to work on more constant updates, to keep the hype for the game alive. It's worth to say that the game’s site was updated one day before Sony’s conference on E3 2015. It’s not clear if Yakuza 5 will be featured on it. Either way, we will cover all the possible new details of Yakuza 5 and Project X Zone 2, as well as other prominent titles of the games industry. Stay tuned to TojoHQ! - Yakuza 5: Inside a World of Organized Crime on PS3 Back in April, Gio Corsi at PlayStation visited the SEGA office in Tokyo to interview two of the developers behind the legendary Yakuza series, General Director Toshihiro Nagoshi and Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama. In this first of three interview videos, Gio goes deep into the details of Yakuza 5 and also gets answers to some of the questions fans sent to #Yakuza5PS Since the game annoucement at Playstation Experience, we've been working very hard to ensure that this massive game - including all the DLC packs - is localized for the western market. We are grateful for all the support we've received from our fans so far and can't wait to share more details with you. source Part 2/3 of Yakuza 5 Developer Interview Part 3/3 of Yakuza 5 Developer Interview Update: Preorder now live in the NA store! https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/yakuza-5/cid=UP0177-NPUB31658_00-YAKUZA5000000001 Looks like a steal too, preordering soon! Yakuza 6 announced for PS4 - Yakuza 1 being remade and will be called Yakuza: Kiwami Sega has announced two new Yakuza projects for PlayStation 3and PlayStation 4. Series creator Toshiro Nagoshi appeared at Sony's PlayStation conference at TGS 2015 to reveal Yakuza: Kiwami--known in Japan as Ryu Ga Gotoku: Kiwami. This is a new version of the original PlayStation 2 title which has had its graphics upgraded, along with a new scenario and system. Although the exact extent of the remake is yet to be detailed, it seems the original game is being remade in the Yakuza 5 engine. The re-release will be available on January 21, 2016 in Japan for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. It is unclear whether Sony or Sega plan to release this game in western games. Previous entries in the series, however, have been made available in North America and Europe some time after their Japanese launches. Nagoshi also revealed Yakuza 6 is in development for the PlayStation 4. Although details on this weren't provided, a Fall 2016 release date was announced. The appearance of a new Yakuza was teased in early September 2015, when the website for the series--known as Ryu Ga Gotoku in Japan--pointed towards something happening on the September 15, 2015. Toshiro Nagoshi also said earlier this year that he was planning to make an announcement at TGS 2015. "I’m so anxious for Tokyo Game Show," he said during a NicoNico stream. "Although I’m not allowed to say why I’m feeling this way, yet." "We’ll announce [a new game] at Tokyo Game Show, and it’ll be a good one," he added. "And I believe that Sega’s live showing at Tokyo Game Show will be the most exciting one we’ve seen in a while." The series, which follows Kazuma Kiryu's rise through the ranks of the Yakuza and his ongoing conflicts with rival factions of the crime family-celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year. Although the game places a heavy emphasis on its narrative, this is wrapped in an open-world experience that delivers action through hand-to-hand combat. source Thanks to Dark Mark for posting about this and bringing it to my attention. I know this is a Yakuza 5 thread but I figured I'd make it about other Yakuza games.. Yakuza 5 slated for mid-November release There has been some localization development bugs, Sega said. Yakuza 5 will be released for PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Store in North America and Europe in mid-November, “if all goes to schedule,” publisher Sega said in a blog post. “Unfortunately, it’s a little later than we would’ve liked, and a few weird development bugs that popped up in localization caused the delay,” Sega said. “Without getting too technical, there were just certain parts that didn’t like switching the Japanese text out for English, and we had to actually search through the source code to find a fix, taking more time than we expected. But! Everything is more or less back on track.” Yakuza 5 first launched in Japan in December 2012. Jon-Patrick-S
PSN really seems the best way to go about it, no cost for the production of the discs, cases, manuals and the distribution to stores. As unfortunate as it is the series never sells great in the west but this way at least they can minimize the cost and hopefully achieve better profit, enough this time that they'll keep releasing in the west. Lady Lilith
I'm not even mad that I imported the JP version and now it's getting localization for two reasons. One, this localization is digital until further notice, which cuts down on costs a lot for Yakuza and makes future localizations more probable. Two, it's ****ing Yakuza, there's no way I'd be mad about this localization

Ortreb
Finally! Now people can shut up and stop complaining all over YouTube crying about not having a Western release of Yakuza games. People are so lazy these days. They could have bought the Japanese version of the game on play-Asia at least and learn some Japanese or follow a guide instead of wasting time for a total of 2/3 years complaining and crying on every Yakuza video for a West release.
