Proof the Vita isn't dead.

I also find the PS4 is just a system of remasters and remakes, granted it has good games, but my god A Lot of remasters and remakes.

Only because they're easy money right now. While the "new" games are being developed, the masses are hungry for games to play on their shiny PS4s.

They will die down. Publishers are beginning to scratch the bottom of the remasters barrel already.

Anyway, that's a discussion for another thread...

I don't need big blockbuster AAA games on my vita. Because that's why i bought my ps4.... I'm perfectly fine with the indies, J-games and the occasional AAA spin-off game (Uncharted: golden abyss & AC: Liberation for example). Most of those AAA games that did made it to the vita were proven to be lackluster because they probably would've played better on a big screen.

I never really understand why people complain about the vita not having enough AAA games. As far as i know the best games on the PSP were also spin offs from larger franchises and Japanese games (although a little less Niche than nowadays on the vita) I'm not saying the psvita couldn't use more games, but people shouldn't be expecting games like fallout 4 or Destiny on the vita.

And the reason why the 3ds still destroys the psvita is because of KIDS. The 3ds has a large selection of games that appeal to most kids while the psvita more aimed at the young adult scenery. And as far as i know, kids are still a big group on the video game market.

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Wouldn't say kids... modern kids are actually Xbone and AAA oriented.

What saves 3DS are Nintendo fans. Long time ones, that is. Considering how Nintendo operates at the moment (pretty much PS4 style), I don't see many new gamers (including younger children) going for Nintendo unless they are affected by their siblings/parents.

I really disagree. I can't see an 8 year old kid picking a vita over a 3ds. The 3ds has a much larger game library orientated at kids than any other system.

And Nintendo hasn't changed much at all in the last couple of years, which is why their current gen console is failing. They invest too much in their own IP's instead of investing in 3rd party support like the Sony and Microsoft have been doing in the last couple of years. Also Nintendo still focuses on the whole family entertainment vision, as they design their games so people of all ages can enjoy them. Unlike Sony and Microsoft who are more focused on the "hardcore" gamers. Business models between Nintendo and Sony/Microsoft are totally different.

I dont understand why every Vita-topic must end like that.

Also I find these doublesta... Ah, I remember, Im not allowed to use this word...

Uhm...

People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendogames. I also had a 3DS just for PokemonX. And nobody cares.

But when people buy Sony consoles for japanese games, other people are like "mimimi just stupid pedoporn in childish manga-ish graphics, where are the epic blockbusterzzz?! omg no gamezzz! >:c"

Also I dont understand what all these "haters" are doing here everytime. Im also not hating in pc-section because pc has only three games Im caring about. Or in the consoles section about XBox, because it has just Forza.

Why people never make sense? :awesome:

Oh, you meant THAT young. Yea, I still think that is a bit young for a console :D But yea, you are right, in this age group, 3DS surely wins.

But I really don't think it's the main base that saves 3DS... Especially if you are living somewhere where e.g. Pokemon (because Mario and Zelda are not anime xD) is no longer well known.

For example, in my country, Mario and Zelda aren't that prominent apart from Nintendo fans. Pokemon beats them because it was very popular ~15 years ago but it's pretty much nothing for the kids within the age group we are talking about :)

But yea, it depends on where you are living.

It's because people are butthurt because they spend 200$+ on a console they're never going to use, since they only bought it for one game probably. While having a 150$ pokémon machine is perfectly normal (i'm one of those people too btw, only with a normal DS and pokémon black + the GBA games ^^)

They still air pokémon on TV here (Even though it's the god awful X & Y arc) Anyway even besides Nintendo main Ip's there are a shit load of kids games. Games like Garfield Karts, My Zoo 3D, Big Hero 6 the video game, Asterix & Obelisk the video game, Top model 3D, I love my Horse, planes, .... You'd be surprised how good these games sell to little kids. My little cousins have had 3ds's for years and never even touched a zelda game and only briefly played pokémon because i told them to give it a try.

The same in my country. Nintendo has really small fanbase when compared to PS/Xbox/PC. It consist of adults and teens only. This is because Nintendo products were poorly distributed in the past and aren't popular now. Also, you won't find any nintendo games in bigger stores. Only a few smaller ones and online shops offers nintendo products so it's kinda a drag being a nintendo fan here xD

Well... these people buy PS4 (which offers very little to those not interested in AAA titles btw :awesome:) so... Sony is content?

Well, I suppose so, but it isn't the primary reason as to why the Vita is a failed system - the general public have very little interest in handheld game consoles because its just an inconvinience when you have a smartphone.

How a smartphone is more convinient than a handheld? Vita controls are way better than touch controls on smartphones. Not to mention that most of the games on smartphones are crappy.

Yep, pretty much implying that you get the same games, or same quality of games on both just makes me

He just means that everybody has a smartphone, regardless if he/she is a gamer or not. So people who casually play games will have their gaming fix with titles like candy crush and angry birds. They don't really have to buy a dedicated gaming system in order to play some games on to go.

The reason is why I got a vita is so I can play my downloaded psp games and newer Jap games. Now I hardly play psp games on my vita and I been playing a variety of different vita games. I even get the chance to play games that I never played yet. With trophy achievement together, its a good portable console for me.

I also bought a 2ds just for the pokemon game oras and that one game only. I never owned a 2ds nor a 3ds but I am quite shock it comes with a sd card slot with a sd card included. As of now, I havent even touch my 2ds and still havent finish my pokemon game at all. Theres only a handful of 3ds games I would play but I didnt bother cuz I was sticking so much with vita mainly because it has some variety I want to try while the 3ds doesnt.

Now my reason why people say the Vita was dead is because there are multiple problems. Sony didnt do a very good job showing off the product. I mean what the target audience? If it wanted to get a audience like what they did to the ps4, then they probably screw up on something. Another thing is the product price. $200 and more if you want to buy their own memory cards. They screw this one up because of the memory card price and the console included. Adding a back touchpad and a motion sensitivity wasnt a good idea. Better yet there arent that many games that utilizes these features and if it did, the results wont be that good. Next is the games. There arent any games for casual gamers who would wanna play. Why spend over $200 just to play one game you only want to. There arent that many people who are interested on the vita library. Their library of games seems good for casuals but not for the rest. If this console is aiming for kids, shouldnt there be games that kids would certainly play? Cuz all im see is minecraft.

The Vita may be dead to some people. But if im still using it, its not dead.

Play Monster Monpiece. It uses the back touchpad very well. It uses it so well that your vita will feel like an extension of your body.

I keep reading the same thing over and over...

'The Vita is dead'

'The Vita is a failure'

Etc etc...

Ok, the bottom line is this...

If you think the Vita is dead for you then it is.

If you think the Vita is alive for you then it is.

That's it... nothing more.

Exactly...now can this thread die? :P

Oh boy, we return to the famed PSNProfiles topic; "Is the Vita dead or not?".

Couldn't be assed writing anything substantial since we all know there'll be another topic just like this next week, so here.

Isn't it amusing how all the people who insist the Vita is bursting with choice and variety are the very people who the console is saturated with games for (Japanese niche games)?  Well, let's put it this way.  Let's say the PS4 came along and a few years down the line there was absolutely zero J-RPGs, visual novels or other Japanese niche games on it.  I know that'd never happen, but imagine it.  Zero.  Nada.  Never happened.  Just full of those big scary AAA games like Call of Duty and FIFA.  That'd really suck, right?  The kinda games you wanna play are just nowhere to be had.  You thought they'd happen though, surely?  But nope.  Meh, back to PS3 and Vita, at least that caters to all tastes and has what you want, right?

There you go.  That's the problem with the Vita.

a lot of people who have Vita's also have PS4's. it's called brand loyalty. A lot of people like Playstation and will buy things made for it. Also they play those, as you said "big and scary AAA games", so assuming that they don't play anything but Japanese niche games makes you look like a ass. I personally play a wide variety of games from any genre. My tastes are different from yours as is everyone else's. Now as I said before, JapanimeGamer summed this thread up for everyone with their post and I see no reason for this thread to continue. So I ask you nicely, if you want to continue this topic take it to private message with someone. Thanks in advance! :)

You missed my point entirely, but yeah, let the topic be.
