THE LEVEL UP ! CHALLENGE

 

Hello fellow trophy hunters and welcome to the first annual Level Up event!

 

Level Up ! is an entertaining competition designed to encourage hunters to pursue a vast range of platinum trophies from different difficulty categories from common platinum's to the all so bothersome ultra-rare. 

 

In this competition, hunters must complete one level before moving to the next, and there are officially five levels one must complete before being deemed a hunting master. The goal is to platinum as many games from each level to acquire as many points before the end of the year. The top three contenders who score the most points at the end of the year will be rewarded for their valiant efforts. However, this shouldn’t encourage or discourage anyone from taking part in this event for the overall theme is to have fun and do what we all love doing, hunting for those beautiful platinum trophies. 

 

RULES

 

• To Level Up, a contender must first obtain all five required platinum’s from their current level. Ex: to level from common to uncommon you must obtain all five common platinum's first. 
• A platinum is ONLY eligible if it is obtained during the current year (2022), no matter the current completion. So long as the platinum is obtained in 2022 then it is accepted.
• Auto-pops are permitted. This event is meant to be fun, not overly stressful. 
• Your current level must be completed before you can be rewarded for the next level. If you are still on the common level, all uncommon and above platinum's WILL NOT be counted.
• An exception to this is if you are planning on using a higher level platinum for your current level. Ex: an uncommon platinum can be used to complete the common level, although it will be considered a common platinum and be awarded the appropriate points. This must be specified beforehand. 
• All games without a platinum WILL NOT count towards any level. All non-platinum games will however be awarded points based on their overall difficulty. 
• You are free to swap out your games as many times for any reason. Remember, this event is meant to be fun and stress free. I encourage you to swap to your heart’s desire, just remember to inform before completion.
• For any reason should a game increase or decrease in difficulty before you complete it, it will still count towards the current level you signed it up for.
• Fully completing a game is NOT MANDATORY, only the platinum is. 
• In keeping with the leveling up theme, there will be an added edition to the event in the form of a quest which will be updated monthly, and instead of offering experience, these quests will give points equal to the difficulty of the quest in question, ranging from 1 point all the way to a whopping 25 points!
• At the end of the event the top three with the most points win!

 

To sign up for the event just comment here with the five platinum's you’ll be attempting for the current level you are in.

After completing that level do the same for the next.

This sounds like fun. I really want 2022 to be a backlog year as much as possible. I'll give it a go. I'm sure I'll play a lot more games throughout the year, but I'll still knock off a list here as I go.

Surprisingly difficult to find "Common" platinums that I want to play.  Thankfully, I'll only need to buy Donut County.  A game I thought would be fun to play and my kids will likely have fun with it.  Ghosts of Tsushima will obviously be the time sink.  Especially since I got for 100%.  I'm about 18 hours into the Legends mode, so hopefully be done with it early next week.

Can I earn a platinum and not declare it right away and use for a different Level? (Example: I'm getting Ghost of Tsushima soon, but since it's a UC, can I get the platinum now, nor report it for the Common Level, and when I get to the UC Level, report it? Or since it's earned when I'm still at the Common Level, I'm forced to use it for Common?)

 

No real list, but I'm guessing Artifex Mundi games + Light Fairytale Episode 2.. (really don't have much outside those or a few VNs in my backlog, although I think the VNs aren't Common either..)

Rule #4 says you can only use on your current level and not from the past. Rule #5 gives a second choice though that you can use any from a higher rarity at the current level. So it's either that Ghost of Tsushima counts as a Common or not at all if you unlock it while being Common Level

Ok, so, it will be a Common, since that's scheduled as my 1st 2022 platinum! (And I will further postpone Tales of Arise Platinum, since I was to finish it next as my 1st PS5 platinum, but it's a UC game..)

Just like @Evil_Joker88 said. It can either be used as a common plat or you'll need to wait for the UC.

The idea of this event sounds really interesting, so I'd like to join.

 

I don't have enough games with a common platinum in my backlog, so Bugsnax needs to count as my 5th one.
