This should help with overall performance and database size, a few pages will have faster loading times. Recently earned trophies on a game's page should be re-enabled and hopefully I'll be able to re-enable the first/latest/fastest achievers on trophy pages. Then we can watch how many damn threads will be closed as all the whiners cry about not being able to update trophies. Sly Ripper Posted May 11, 2012 Author Share Posted May 11, 2012 Instead of having the maintenance last 3 days in one big batch I've decided to incorporate it into when your trophies update. Your next update will take longer than usual but it's a one time thing. First and latest achievers is enabled. Fastest achievers is also enabled but it will take a week or two for it to become fully populated. Manual updating is enabled, I'll probably enable auto updating later today. Depending on the load I might have to double the standard queue time until everyone has been updated once, then it'll be back to normal. 4 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

For the past couple of months we've been reaching the limits of this server and it's gotten to the point where I had to run maintenance every few days to keep stuff running moderately fast. The bang for buck of this server is unbelievable but the problem is that it's fixed, it can't be upgraded. No other host can come close to the price so the only option is to get a server that's 2x better but costs 4x as much (and that's with an awesome deal, it would be 6x/7x as much regularly). The good news is that the lifetime premium upgrade has been pretty successful so far, this is the first month that the money raised is enough to cover the new server costs, so we should be all good there. I'm currently using this server to test some new database engines for speed and compression, this server expires on Saturday so I'd like to get stuff moved over to the new one before that. For the inner geek inside you, here's old and new server specs. Current Server CPU: Intel Xeon W3520 @ 2.67GHz, 4 cores, 8 threads RAM: 24GB HDD: 1x 2TB NET: 100Mbps New Server CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2620 @ 2.00GHz, 6 cores, 12 threads (12 cores, 24 threads total) RAM: 48GB HDD: 4x 1TB in Hardware RAID 10 NET: 1Gbps 16 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
