Popular Post Superbuu3
Banner created by Floriiss Anyone who wants to join, you may use the Ys: Memories of Celceta sign up thread, until Sunday 14th June when it will be closed. If you want to send an enquiry after that date, send me a PM or use this thread here. Anyone who invades this thread breaking this simple request will likely be added to my ignore list and effectively banned from all future playthroughs, this also includes anyone who puts spoilers in the thread, beyond the point we've played up to. This starts Friday 12th June, if you don't have the game, if you want to join in on discussion of the game, don't discuss anything beyond the current checkpoint. I have tried to remove every single trace of anything that seemed like it could be a spoiler so don't worry about getting spoilers reading through this post. Before We Start: Ys: MoC requires two playthroughs to get the platinum trophy your inital playthrough can be on any difficulty (I'll be playing on normal, but feel free to play on easy yourself). You apparently get extra money on easy from what I have read and it should shorten the grind on some trophies (you can lower difficulty during your playthrough, but you can't increase it). In your first playthrough you want to get 100% map coverage and all chests, as this will make your second playthrough easier. Source for trophy information here and Dragon_Archon will help me work out if I've made any errors (I'll ask him after I type this so he feels obliged to help ) http://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/ys-memories-of-celceta/230306-ys-memories-celceta-trophy-guide-road-map-na-eu.html Here's some tips from Dragon-Archon: I do have a few tips to make it easier: People need to walk near the edges of the map for it to propery register. I ended up with 99.3% uncovered, because I didn't walk near the edges at some places. The map is slightly blurry to indicate those areas. Also while exploring you or the AI party members need to attack a resource point and get at least 1 item from it to count for Stupendous Scavenger. Once you have uncovered at least 50% of the map, report back to Griselda to get the Aeolus Urn artefact. Go to the Highland Village and upgrade it to Aeolus Urn+ as soon as possible. This will cause the urn to drop between 5-10 money every 5 or so seconds. Keep it equipped at all times (unless you need another artefact to progress the story). Getting 5-10 money doesn't seem much, but over the course of 30+ hours it will greatly help towards Money For Something. Note that the 1 million isn't cumulative, you must have it on you. Upgraded artefacts do not carry over to NG+. Try to uncover 100% of the map before completing the first playthrough and report to Griselda. You get money for every 10% you discover for a grand total of 241,500 gold. Map completion carries over, so once you start NG+ you can get 241,500 gold again, along with the Aeolus Urn and Ares Seal artefacts. Do Nightmare during NG+ and equip the Ares Seal. That thing drastically increases the refill rate of the EXTRA skill. Be very careful when you or your party members get affected with Misfortune (a cracked 5-pointed star symbol, see image below). Characters affected with this will loose up to 50,000 gold every time they get hit and you can only recover about 10% of what you lost. Should you not be aware of this (like I was at first) you can easily loose all your gold. The best thing is to run away and wait for the effect to disappear. 1.Missable Trophies: a )Treasure Hunter - Opened every chest. This does not carry over to new game plus so you need to do this in one run. Make sure to search every corner thoroughly. Hidden chest in Tower of Providence:http://i.imgur.com/4OqUHwZ.jpg b )All the Things - Acquired One of Every Item, items to carry over between playthroughs, but you can only obtain 6 out of 12 sets of weapons during a series of weapon testing quests in Selray per playthrough. There's only 3 sun stones per playthrough, but you need 6 total, so this will need two playthroughs to. Make sure to use your sun stones as the stones themselves don't carry over in new game plus. Tip from JeieeM: During the quest 'Happy Suprise' you can complee the quest by handing in 3 flower, but if you hand in 4 different flowers you will get a unique item, so you should hand in 4, even though the quest giver does not request it. c )Monster Meister and Better Man - Complete Bestiary and defeat Duren in one on one combat. I've put these together as Duren is the only missable "beast", although two bosses also spawn minions so make sure to kill those to. The bosses Gadis and Bami summon additional monsters so be sure to kill these minions. For Duren: You can fight with Duren as part of the quest called Sword Training, which can be found on Comodo’s quest board after you’ve unlocked them. Once you read the board, go to top layer of the village. Make sure to save your game and then talk to two girls there to accept the quest. You will be asked to have a duel with Duren. He’s not too hard but can hurt you pretty bad and lock you into aerial combos if you’re not careful. Use whatever skills you have and keep dodging or guarding against his attacks. You can use your EXTRA skill to deal massive damage to him if you have it at full. If it’s not full, try to fill it by dealing damage using regular skills. Also there is no penalty for using healing items, so keep a few Bitter Potions handy and use them if you feel like you’ll lose the fight. If you happen to lose the fight, you will miss the trophy along with Duren’s monster file. So reload your save and try again. d )Philanthropist - Complete every quest, this is missable as quests can be failed so be sure to save before attempting quests. Urgent quests should be your priority. Every location has a quest board. e )Tickled Pink - Endure all of Zara's tickle sessions: Zara is a girl in Selray that is located in the same building as the Quest Board. You should talk to her and let her tickle you at specific points in the game for the trophy. As soon as you reach Selray and have Ozma in your party. After you beat Sacred Beast’s Lair and have access to quests. When you get back to Selray, after Karna and Ozma rejoins party. After you are done with Highland Town and given Gold Wings. After Frieda joins the party. After the scenes at Roos’ Nest, before heading to Mt. Vesuvio. After clearing Colonia Artifact Lab. Right after the previous one. Once you complete them all and earn the trophy, you can ask her to tickle you whenever you want, which is a good way of filling your SP and EXTRA gauges. f )Heard it all - Purchased all info from Mouse Mouse is an informant standing in the back alley of Casnan. You have to talk to him and buy new info for 100 gold each at specific points in the game for the trophy. After you receive the map from Griselda, before you leave Casnan. After you are done with Comodo Village events and unlock the quests. After you are done with Selray Village events and unlock the quests. Be sure to buy it before you’re done with 2 new quests in Casnan. Right after Karna rejoins the party. After you are done with Highland Town. After Frieda joins the party. After the scenes at Roos’ Nest, before heading to Mt. Vesuvio. After clearing Colonia Artifact Lab. g )Touche, Salesman - proved your skill as a merchant There are three quests that allow you to prove your skill as a merchant. Note that during haggles, you have to stop at certain points otherwise you will fail those missions. Also for Shopkeeper for a Day quest, you have to pay attention to what the merchant is telling you, as one of the items always changes each time you accept that quest. Purchasing Iron OreHaggle with the goldsmith until he offers you 6250 gold Shopkeeper for a DayChoose the answers as below: Recommend Cotton Refuse Buy a fruit for her (30G) Call out to try attracting more Sell him a [Nut/Fruit] (could be Chito Nut, Raparo Fruit or Arieda Fruit, you have to pay attention during his explanation) Discount the [Nut/Fruit] (same as previous one) If you chose all items correctly you will get the (Extra Large) reward Purchasing SilverKeep haggling until the merchant offers you a Hammer Beak to sweeten the deal, then accept it Guidelines: 1. We only play up to the agreed milestone, I think if we leave people behind the group will fall apart, if people fall behind we will continue, but i do hope he others will try to keep up. 2. If you do meet an agreed story milestone, try to focus on any collectibles. 3. Let us know in the thread if you meet a milestone so we can tell if everything is running smoothly, if you're having trouble with a boss or particular enemies try to ask in the thread first before consulting a guide, this is mainly to keep the talk on the game still open. 4. If you have any suggestions I'm completely open to them. 5. Anyone who wants to join, you may use the Ys:MoC sign up thread, until Sunday 14th June when it will be closed. If you want to send an enquiry after that date, send me a PM. Anyone who invades this thread breaking this simple request will likely be added to my ignore list and effectively banned from all future playthroughs, this also includes anyone who puts spoilers in the thread, beyond the point we've played up to. If checkpoints are too close together, do let me know and we'll set two bosses/areas for that checkpoint instead. Previous Checkpoints: Checkpoint 1 - Complete Casnia Mine (24 hours) You should be awarded a trophy for your progression. Don't proceed beyond this point and make sure you save. Checkpoint 2 - Reach the Forest of Dawn: Stream Feel free to fully explore this area itself just don't head down the branches from here, and its fair game to search areas before this point. This should leave us at a place that we can compare progress easily. If what I have read is accurate this should be the area that gives a fork leading to Misty Peak (Selray) and Forest Labyrinth (Comodo), which is branching point which have missables both ways). Checkpoint 3 will include getting everything from both areas. If I've made any areas do inform me please. thanks. Missables: First up we will be in Casnan City: Heard It All.- you have to goto the back alley near the inn/bar and give him 100G for information (you'll have to visit him a total of eight times throughout the game and this is detailed in the first post under missables) After completing the Casnia Mine, you can accept a side quest to sell Iron Ore for Touche Salesman. You can fail that and miss the bronze trophy and Philantrophist. You need to haggle with the salesman until he offers you 6250G. To Milk a Fabros and Honey Potions are two urgent quests that are missable, there's another quest Bear on the Plains. Beast Plains: Clear missions Bear on the Plains and to Milk a Fabros. Checkpoint 3: Clear Ancient Burrow and Sacred Beast's Lair Missables: Blue = story-related trophies Green = information from Mouse in Casnan Orange = tickling session from Zara in Selray Comodo first: Missable content unlock after completing Ancient Burrow (beating the 2 bosses there) and returning to Comodo Sword Training side quest becomes available. You have to defeat Duren for Better Man and Philanthrophist. (Note: this is an Urgent quest). There are also 2 Non-urgent quests A Fresh Meal and The Monkey King. Information #2 must be purchased from mouse in Casnan for Heard It All. Unlocks Proof of Life after arriving in Comodo and Homecoming for Some after clearing the Ancient Burrow and returning to Comodo. Selray first: After arriving at Selray and being able to walk freely, go to the inn and talk to Zara (the little girl near the quest board) and let her tickle you (tickling session #1). After arriving at Selray you'll get Proof of Life for reaching a settlement. After completing Sacred Beast's Lair and returning to Selray, talk to Zara for tickling session #2. After completing Sacred Beast's Lair and returning to Selray, the side quest Shopkeeper for a Day becomes available (Check opening post for details if you are struggling to get the Extra Large Reward, which is needed for Touche Salesman). This one is needed for Touche, Salesman and Philanthrophist. Note there are two other non-urgent quests Seeking Moisture and Swarm of Black. After completing Sacred Beast's Lair and returning to Selray, information #2 must be purchased from mouse in Casnan for Heard It All. Completing Sacred Beast's Lair and returning to Selray unlocks Pure Waters. Completing both Comodo and Selray & Casnan Revisit: Tickling session #3 becomes available in Selray. Information #3 must be purchased in Casnan. Important: there's a very small window to get this, it's best to get this while you're alone in Casnan and have to complete 2 side quests to continue the story. After that Karna joins it's too late to get information #3. After Karna joins the party in Casnan, buy information #4. Selray Revisit: After Ozma joins the party in Selray, talk to Zara for tickling session #3. The first Weapon Testing side quest is also available in Selray. You must choose between two types of weapons and choose the other one during NG+ to get all of them for All The Things Checkpoint 4 - Reach the Primeval Lands Go through the Underground Ruins and reach the Primeval Lands Closer to the Truth. Checkpoint 5 - Complete the Tower of Providence Missables and Notes: There's a treasure chest that's very easy to miss in the Tower of Providence and it's needed for Treasure Hunter. There are 2 missable monsters in the Tower of Providence. Fildabal during the first boss fight and Zandabal will be summoned once you scale the tower with the boots artefact. After reaching the top of the Tower of Providence, you'll unlock White Wings. I know some people will be worried about the new checkpoint. The reason for this is the last checkpoint left us in the middle of a quest unable to explore the map. This checkpoint will give you freedom to go wherever you want again. Checkpoint 6 - Complete The Highland Event Missables: Completing Highland event: Purchasing Silver Ingots (Keep haggling until the merchant offers you a Hammer Beak to sweeten the deal, then accept it) becomes available in Highland, completing this one will also unlock Touche, Salesman. Unleashing Artefacts becomes available in Highland, after completing that you can upgrade artefacts. When you have the Aeolus Urn, upgrade it immediately. You can find Mishy in Highland to start Mishy Masher. Buy information #5 in Casnan Tickling session #4 in Selray Second Weapon Testing side quest becomes available in Selray Checkpoint 7 - Complete The Events at Danan Village Do not proceed to Ashen Forest Completing the events at Danan village: After reaching Danan village you'll unlock A Storied Village. Buy information #6 in Casnan Tickling session #5 in Selray Third Weapon Testing side quest becomes available in Selray (you can only complete this one in the Ashen Forest Marshland, which is the next area story-wise). Checkpoint 8 - Complete Roo's Nest Completing Roo's Nest: After obtaining the Sacred Beast Collar, talk to the roo Oroocle in beast form to get a hidden memory for Memory Unfogged. If you have found Mishy at the other 5 places, talk to him in beast form to get Mishy Masher and 2 of every gem. Buy information #7 in Casnan Tickling session #6 in Selray Note: From here the path splits and you can choose to go to Mt. Vesuvio or Lake Tolmes Ruins. You have to do both and the next story-related trophy ( Mask in Hand) will pop after clearing both. Both bosses at these dungeons summon additional monsters. After completing both these dungeons, you have to return to Roo's Nest and after that, you must go to the Colonia Artefact Lab. Checkpoint 9 - Enter Temple of the Sun Completing Colonia Artefact Lab and opening the Temple of the Sun: After completing Colonia Artefact Lab, buy information #8 in Casnan and Heard It All should unlock. After completing CAL, do tickling session #7 and #8. Tickled Pink will unlock. Opening the Temple of the Sun unlocks Beyond Lies Your Goal. If you have explored everything up to now (including the Nameless Ruin and the area with Foria Daros in the Forest of the Dawn) you should have 100% of the map uncovered as soon as you enter the Temple of the Sun and Master Cartographer should unlock. Don't forget to report your progress to Griselda in Casnan. After opening the Temple of the Sun, a boss fight starts. After beating that boss, the side quest Happy Present becomes available in Selray. Be sure to have 3 Marl Flowers, 3 Yupel Flowers, 3 Libra Flowers, and 3 Celceta Flowers so you can get all 4 missable rewards for All The Things. After beating the boss in the temple and all 3 weapon testing quests, the side quest Legendary Weapon becomes available in Selray. You must do this and give 3 Sun Stones to create 3 ultimate weapons and craft the remaining 3 weapons during NG+. Sun Stones don't carry over, so you must do them to get all 6 of them in 2 playthroughs. Sun Stones are found in the Colonia Artefact Lab Namess Ruin in Forest of the Dawn (requires Beast King's Claws) Iris Gold Trial (you still have to enter this area) After beating the boss in the temple, the last batch of side quests will unlock, Succesfully completing them will also unlock Philanthropist. Checkpoint 10 - Complete the Game Location of the final chest - Beat the 3 trials then use the central warp point to head for the "Central Area" to progress the story. Before going upward, check behind the warp point for the Berserker Armor +6. Point of no return: After you progress the story heading north will take you to a warp monument, you can use it to heal but progressing past it will trigger the end of the game, so make sure you save before this. Also don't go past this unless you are confident you have missed nothing. Your Monster compendium should be 94.8% at this point. Harvest, Chest and Map completion should all be 100%. Checkpoint 11 - Clear Ancient Burrow and Sacred Beast's Lair on Nightmare Difficulty Checkpoint 12 - Complete the Tower of Providence Checkpoint 13 - Complete the Events at Danan Village Checkpoint 14 - Complete Roo's Nest Checkpoint 15 - Enter Temple of the Sun Checkpoint 16 - Destroy the one ring... I mean beat the game on Nightmare difficulty When you reach a checkpoint and post an update in this thread be sure to post your map completion this will be the easiest way for us to tell if anyone is missing anything. Yadilie
No, first missable progression is after the Mine and before you leave. He should be putting missable in the Checkpoints just so people don't get screwed over.
Dragon-Archon
Awesome. Are there any missable things until that point? Superbuu3
No, first missable progression is after the Mine and before you leave. He should be putting missable in the Checkpoints just so people don't get screwed over. That would be after the current checkpoint, which is why I haven't mentioned it. As its after the first dungeon you get access to the town where the quest is. Unless you want me to move where the checkpoint is? After completing the Casnia Mine, you can accept a side quest to sell Iron Ore for Touché Salesman. You can fail that and miss that bronze trophy and the Philantrophist. This is in the town after the mine right? Unless what I'm looking at is inaccurate.
Dragon-Archon
This is in the town after the mine right? Unless what I'm looking at is inaccurate. Yeah, it's Casnan village. The Casnia Mine is in that same village.
Superbuu3
No, first missable progression is after the Mine and before you leave. He should be putting missable in the Checkpoints just so people don't get screwed over. No, I've checked again and if people stick to the checkpoints and don't start running off they won't be screwed out of anything. If you've seen how I've run things previously I haven't missed any missables in any games yet, so I'm pretty confident what I'm doing. If i'm doing something wrong be more clear as to why its wrong. The trigger for that trophy is before you have missed anything. I also have to highlight this, because this kind of comment will undermine confidence in the group. So no I have not made an error, we'll get into the town and sidequests, on Saturday, I'll set this as a timed checkpoint. EDIT: that probably comes across as more annoyed than I am, but not easy to convey that. Edited June 11, 2015 by Superbuu3

Dragon-Archon
Here's some tips from Dragon-Archon: I do have a few tips to make it easier: People need to walk near the edges of the map for it to propery register. You get money for every 10% you discover for a grand total of 245,000 gold. Map completion carries over, so once you start NG+ you can get 245,000 gold again, along with the Aeolus Urn and Ares Seal artefacts. Do Nightmare during NG+ and equip the Ares Seal. That thing drastically increases the refill rate of the EXTRA skill. I'd like to add the following: I made a calculation error about the 10 rewards you get from Griselda. The total amount is 241,500 gold and not 245,000. The skulls in the picture are from a Curse effect and aren't related to Misfortune, it's the only picture I could find. Also that is the worst status effect i've heard of in a game. Edited June 11, 2015 by Superbuu3

JaM
Just wondering, what is everyone's time? Mine is UTC -5. I am at +8GMT so it is already 1:01 AM 06/12... yep 12 hours ahead of EST...
Dragon-Archon
I'll edit that into the first post. Also that is the worst status effect i've heard of in a game. I agree, it's clearly a case of developers trolling. Also the purple skulls are the Curse effect and aren't related to Misfortune. It was the only picture I could find. JaM
I'd like to add the following: I made a calculation error about the 10 rewards you get from Griselda. The total amount is 241,500 gold and not 245,000. The skulls in the picture are from a Curse effect and aren't related to Misfortune, it's the only picture I could find. will confirm regarding the mapping reward... you will get total of 241500 when you 100%'d the map... see spoiler below for denomination 1000 3000 5000 7500 10000 15000 20000 30000 50000 100000 with regards to misfortune, that is the perfect screenshot... if you are in Misfortune, there will be 2 purple-ish skull, the character body will turn purple-ish as well and in your icon with that star below... curse has different icon and you will be colored green... and yep.. this the worst debuff... good thing there is an accessory to prevent it... oh btw... checkpoint reached? the trophy will pop after you talk with Griselda in her office right? and no progress of map yet since I haven't received the map of Celceta yet... Yadilie
Checkpoint Reached. Mines done. Man the JP control scheme is all sorts of confusing. Went ahead and hit this checkpoint since it's a quickie. Staying up pretty late today doing Inn Requests in Graces f, so not sure how long I'll be sleeping tomorrow, heh. Wouldn't want to hold people back at the beginning. Edited June 11, 2015 by Yadilie
Satoshi Ookami
Man the JP control scheme is all sorts of confusing. You can switch the Vita controls while you're playing this if you want.
Yadilie
You can switch the Vita controls while you're playing this if you want. I'll probably get used to this. It's just at the moment I was trying to Dualize things and do Celceta. So I was swapping between JP and NA control schemes within seconds of each other, heh. j-a-y-888
I've also just reached the first checkpoint. Although my game time has been under an hour, I am really happy with this game so far! It's exactly what I've been looking for on the Vita. Having no background knowledge of this game or its story, it's also nice to finally have a grasp on the games premise - that is, the relevance of memories, map exploration etc. Edited June 12, 2015 by j-a-y-
AffectatiousDonk
Have reached checkpoint, second jay888's comment its actually makes a pleasant change to have a handle on what is actually going on in the first 30mins of a game. I am GMT +10 (AEST) time zone
hyappatuhyakuchu
I've reached the first checkpoint... What are your map% dudes...? I haven't reached the checkpoint yet. Don't worry, it's coming.
