PlayStation having a meltdown

PSN was somewhat working for me earlier, it was just doing everything extremely slowly. I decided to check online, and sure enough, PSN has been having issues.

Since around 5pm or so BST, it's been completely down, though I can still sign in and upload my saves to the cloud on the PS3, funnily enough. I can't do much of anything else though, including syncing my trophies.

It's been a while since I remember PSN being down for so long. I've been having some minor issues with PSN over the past two days, but nothing really worth noting.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon, I dread another large DDOS attack like that one a few years when PSN was down for about 2-3 days over Christmas.

gah I'm so unlucky. I can't even tell if the servers are on or not because here's why.

About an hr ago I activated the two step program on the website. I forgot that I need to activate a password for ps3 since it works a little differently than ps4. So I try to go back online on the site, but i got a prompt to enter the code but I'm not receiving anything on my phone. I really hope I'm not receiving anything cause of the servers..

Obviously not universal. I tried a number of these sites and was able to access them. Or maybe it's getting better?

For me it's all over the place. Disqus is down, but Wikia (loads fine, but layout is messed up a'la early 90s site) and Reddit (seems to be totally fine) work, for example.

PSN is on drugs - my PS3 treats a chunk of my PS+ library as expired now. Is it acting up because the servers are down and it can't verify the expiration date properly? Did this happen with someone else as well?

The DDOS attacks already did their share of damage, but I don't know how much longer that's going to continue today.

I've recently gotten most of the free PS+ library this month on all three consoles (PS4, PS3 and Vita), hopefully I'll be able to play those games without having to verify my systems because a group of assholes out there decided to DDOS Dyn DNS.

I read somewhere there is a hackers convention that goes on in Europe somewhere. Some of those people are good enough to render your entire PC/Macintosh useless, even while trying to troubleshoot it. Those are the people I would be worried about rather than the standard criminals.

CNN says there's a third attack going on now so who knows how long this'll be going on.
