I'm from Sweet Lake City (Zoetermeer), just east of The Hague. Once my wife finishes her degree (she started a follow-up part-time study two years ago) we actually want to move to Gelderland, the province where Arnhem and Apeldoorn are. The countryside is great there. I did the 'Vierdaagse' in 2011. That was a mistake - the walking was fine but I freaked because of how many people kept walking around me, I expected it to spread out but that wasn't really the case. Jaguargenie
One last completed game before the next event. Don't think I will be able to plat it before Wednesday, but I just finished it, and it's one of the best games I've played in years. In fact, best since Last of Us. I've been slow rolling it to stretch out the experience and it was so worth it. The story was so great (even though I was waiting for a twist that never happened). It was obvious that they spent a huge amount of time on the more of this world. It's a crazy story, but all of it makes sense (minus the whole "biomass conversion") thing. Pretty sure that one has zero scientific basis. The characters are great. Aloy is voiced so well and their facial animation/mocap is just astounding! Anyone that hasn't played this yet just to. Just has to!

Well, looks like a few days turned into a few months! Still, better late than never, so before I embark on KYC5, here is how I've been progressing with the 18 games I selected for KYC3 and KYC4: Tomb Raider: Legend (At end of KYC3, was 20% complete. Now 42% complete) Finished one playthrough on hard, but have not done the time trials or really looked for collectibles. Thought the game picked up in the second half with some better puzzles. Wasn't too keen on some of the bosses though - I still prefer TR:Anniversary to Legend. Magrunner: Dark Pulse (At end of KYC3, was 17% complete. Now 91% complete) Finished the story, and I'm now just one trophy away from platinum. Looks like a fairly difficult one to do properly (Getting through Act III without dying - I'm aware of the backing up your save exploit that can be used, but I want to try and do it legitimately). Some very clever puzzles, but the sometimes wonky physics brought this game down a peg for me. Level 36 was a real doozy - had me stuck for maybe 3 hours, but oh so satisfying to finally solve (and using a solution that probably wasn't the intended one - felt so proud when I finally got it to work). Split/Second (At end of KYC3, was 31% complete. Now 42% complete) Played through to the end of the championship, and saw a couple of nice new tracks, but no new game modes that I didn't already know of from my original 3 day stint with the game. Some of the later events are absolutely brutal - you need both perfect driving and a lot of luck to get through. Platinum will be one tough nut to crack, should I ever decide to go for it. I didn't like how the game forced me to finish in the top 3 to clear the final round of the championship, even though 5th place would have given me enough points to clinch the title, but apart from that quibble, Split/Second was a lot of fun. Gravity Rush Remastered (At end of KYC3, was 7% complete. Now 8% complete) Tried to get back into this, but really struggled to get back to grips with the controls. Given that I'm not very far in, I'd probably be better starting over so that I can do the first few missions and tutorials again. Resogun (At end of KYC3, was 64% complete. Now 67% complete) Tried to get through on medium difficulty again a few more times; I still can't beat it, although at least I can now pass the first 2 levels consistently. Got the trophy for reaching a 10x score multiplier, and came close to getting the 15x multiplier trophy too. Going to need a lot more practice before I can pick up the Platinum, but it remains an exceptionally fun challenge. Mad Max (At end of KYC3, was 7% complete. Now 52% complete) I was a bit unsure of this game during my original 3 day stint, but it really grew on me as I played more. Got a bit repetitive towards the end, but I'm glad that I pushed through. The vehicular combat could get a bit annoying, but the massive explosions won't ever go out of style! Unfortunately, I got stuck with the infamous 190/191 locations bug, meaning that the platinum is no longer possible without restarting from scratch, but there's enough fun to be had here that a second playthrough won't feel like a chore. Finally, I take back that comment I made in my original review about the races being a poor experience due to the lack of markers showing where to go - I had somehow missed the very prominent black tyre tracks on the ground that show you the exact route! Assassin's Creed II (At end of KYC3, was 25% complete. Now 25% complete) Haven't played any more of this. Really should get back to it, though, as I still have most of the games in the franchise festering away in my backlog. Dead Space (At end of KYC3, was 14% complete. Now 62% complete) After KYC3, I coudn't wait to get back to this. It didn't disappoint, although I thought that the second half of the game was a bit less good than the first half, due to some cheap parts where enemies literally drop right on top of you, and a final boss that was a bit too easy for my liking. Still a great experience and I highly recommend this title if you like horror games and/or shooters. Prototype (At end of KYC3, was 7% complete. Now 7% complete) Haven't played any more of this, and I haven't really wanted to - didn't like it much. The Golf Club (At end of KYC3, was 16% complete. Now 17% complete) Only played one more round of golf since KYC3 ended, appropritely enough, trying out Augusta National during Masters week. It was an extremely accurate recreation of the course, illustrating the power of the game's course creator. Unfortunately, my round also illustrated one of The Golf Club's big problems - no option to change the speed of the greens. I played a near-perfect round from tee to green, but ended up shooting 18 over par because I just couldn't control my putts. I think I will stick to courses that were made with slow greens until I get a lot better with the putter - much less frustrating. I still haven't got around to making my own course with the editor yet. That's something I really do want to try at some point... when I can motivate myself to put in the amount of work it'll take to make an entire course that plays well. El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron (At end of KYC4, was 16% complete. Now 16% complete) Haven't played any more of this, but will probably return to it shortly after this upcoming round of KYC finishes. Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (At end of KYC4, was 11% complete. Now 80% complete) Finished the campaign on medium difficulty and got all of the collectibles. Still need to do an Uber difficulty playthrough and the challenge rooms for the platinum trophy. Inspired me to go back and complete the original Wolfenstein 3D, and put the newly released Wolfenstein II very much on my radar. Apart from a handful of overly-large dificulty spikes (especially near the start of chapter 1 - that stealth section so early in the game versus the super-soldiers was ludicrously difficult), I couldn't really find anything to dislike about The Old Blood. Some great shootouts in a good variety of locations, with excellent sound and graphics, and blood and guts aplenty. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two (At end of KYC4, was 8% complete. Now 35% complete) Completed a good chunk of this game over the last week or so. I thought it was fairly good after my (admittedly brief) time with it during the event, but it's really gone downhill for me since. An aiming system that doesn't work very well in combat, often poor AI for Mickey's partner Oswald, a wonky camera, Gremlin Gus (your guide) barking the same command at you every 5 seconds, and the sidequests taking over to the point that the game's main progression seems like an afterthought are just some of the problems that have hit home since I resumed Epic Mickey 2. I'm close enough to the end that I might as well finish what I've started, but it's been more frustration than fun. Mafia II (At end of KYC4, was 15% complete. Now 15% complete) No further progress since my 3 days with this game in KYC4. I'm not really feeling this game so far. Definitely not a bad game from a technical standpoint, but the missions have felt a bit dull and uninspiring so far. I'm expecting things to pick up later though, as your character becomes a bigger fish within the Mafia's ranks - but it's just a matter of getting over that hump before you can get to what I hope will be some cooler stuff to do. Also, the open world just feels tacked on, as apart from bringing cars to a crusher to earn more money, there really hasn't been anything to do in the open world other than drive around. Having said that, the driving can be quite enjoyable. Having to obey speed limits and traffic lights to avoid attracting the attention of the cops is a nice touch that adds some realism. The Crew (At end of KYC4, was 5% complete. Now 5% complete) Played a little bit more of this (another mission or two), but no new trophies earned. Discovered, to my annoyance, just how much of this game is locked away if you don't buy DLC. I have driven miles out of my way to try and access both the police car dealership and the motorcycle dealer, only to get a nasty surprise upon reaching the destination! Many of the cars offered in the regular dealership are DLC only too, so I'm still on my first car. Perfectly playable racer, but the DLC paywall has left a bad taste in my mouth. Remember Me (At end of KYC4, was 10% complete. Now 46% complete) Completed the story on normal difficulty. Really enjoyed this game - lots of variety in combat, some good platforming and puzzles, and the memory remix sequences were excellent. Definitely going to do a second playthrough on hard in the near future. Platinum doesn't look too hard to achieve. Crysis (At end of KYC4, was 16% complete. Now 16% complete) Haven't played any more of this. A bit of a disappointment so far, but not terrible and I'm willing to press on with this at some point in the future when I'm in the mood. No Man's Sky (At end of KYC4, was 11% complete. Now 44% complete) A rabbit hole that I just completely disappeared down in the weeks following the end of KYC4. Found even more cool planets and star systems, decided to try my hand at base building, and found a great spot to mine and trade millions of units worth of rare elements. The variety of buildings and outposts on the planets was starting to get a little repetitive, but only after many hours of play and a lot of exploration. Since KYC4, new updates have been released to add a lot more depth to the main quest line. When I next play NMS, I will probably start over again due to this... and will promptly disappear down an even deeper rabbit hole! I was pretty impressed with it at the time, but the sequel was such a massive improvement, I'm afraid to go back and try to Plat it. :/ I liked X-2 back in the day. Haven't gotten around to replaying it, yet. Mass Effect was one of my favorite series on Xbox. Definitely worth playing. Root Letter was really good, in my opinion. Any story that makes me cry earns a high rating from me. Mordor is awesome. Played that in one of these events. Don't have an opinion on the rest. I'm just going to try, if I don't I've bought the triology for nothing.. and that's a shame a looong looooooong time ago, I once I've started it on ps2.. But my mind was all over the place so don't really remember that much.. You are going to get me hyped for Root letter, and thinking about exchaning the mordor game for one of other games of the list. That last grind in FFX to get all the orbs required to fill out everyone's crystarium or whatever they called it, fighting the same group of dudes over and over again was just brutal. X took me 2 months, 1 week whereas X2 took 3 weeks, 5 days. I liked that little bonus roguelike dungeon they threw in X2 but I don't remember really getting stuck on it, if I had to replay it a bunch of times I'm sure it would've got old fast. I've been playing Spectre Knight's campaign, going through the various feats. I'm hoping to have the second trophy for that ready to pop for my 4000th trophy milestone. I'm doing the run without health or magic upgrades, I just beat Shield Knight last night. That was probably the hardest fight as you don't have access to the artifact that regenerates health. Not that the speed run or new game+ run will be cakewalks. Final Fantasy X is one of my favourite games indeed. Going to see how ffx-2 suits me :). good luck with getting that trophy for your milestone =)

A few comments, ACII - Stick with it. The game holds up pretty well for being 6-7 years old. I played it the PS4 version this summer and it was remarkable how playing the game actually helped me navigate the streets of real-life Venice. I probably wouldn't have found the Arsenale if it wasn't for ACII. Of course, I moved a bit slower than Ezio as I didn't have access to roof tops. The GolfClub - I thik you and I are the only golf fans in KYC events. Are the golfing mechanics similar to EAs Rory and Tiger games? Or worse? The Crew - This is a GREAT game. Don't let the absence of DLC content dissuade you, you are actually not missing that much. The Wild dlc is pretty boring with monster trucks, drifting and drag racing events. There's hours and hours of other things to do in the game, well, maybe more than that, as I put in over 100 hours in this one.
