Final season scores will be announced in a few hours, at which point the 2nd and 3rd place teams will have until this time tomorrow to nominate their picks for faceoff HTC. 2nd place will nominate 2 players, and 3rd will nominate 3. First place selects from those options, and can pick whoever they want from their own team as HTC. You can check out the stats sheet here to get a better idea of how the individual players fared, but since this is the final HTC of the season let's cut to the chase and look at what really matters: the overall standings! Scrubslayers - Kent - 6715 #LazyGains - 6005 Boatiful Boating Boat - 5897 Team Netherlands - 3936 Overwatch hype exists because of Activision/blizzard money. - 2967 Consecutive 2000+ point HTC periods propelled Scrubslayers - Kent all the way from fifth to a comfortable first place, and @Tearraven dropped the highest score of the season with 2580 points in the fourth HTC period to push #LazyGains into second. Anchored by 4 strong performers, Boatiful Boating Boat enters the finals in 3rd place, but with no obvious deadweight this is not the disadvantage that would face other teams. Meanwhile, Team Netherlands followed in the footsteps of that country's football team and had a few too many weak performances to make it to the finals. And finally, in what can only be explained as part of the recent backlash against microtransactions, lootboxes, and scummy gaming companies, Overwatch ran out of hype and finished in last place despite @MrUnknown625's season high 10 platinums. Due to EA pushing to hard with the lootboxes, Activison/blizzard had cut us off from the money. So just like Overwatch, our team was just a bunch of trash wrapped up in Activison/blizzard money. Therefore, their three eligible players were chosen randomly: @DawningWolf55, @midgetstrawdog and @PixelatedPortal Of the three, I will select @DawningWolf55 as the HTC for the faceoff period. Synergy works in faceoff the same way it does in the regular season, it's calculated at the end of the 24h period and platinums modified by HTC bonus receive more in synergy than unmodified plats. So to give an idea of how this would work with the different finals formats: There is no synergy involved in rare winners. In battle royale each player would need to pop the platinum on whichever day of the matchup they want, since the scores are counted and reset each day. All players receive the synergy bonus. If a player previously eliminated pops a synergized platinum along with the other still active players, this platinum will not count towards synergy. In 1 v 1^4, players would again need to pop the platinums on the day they want it to count, however since only one player is actually scoring points that day, the other players will receive no benefit from the synergy towards their own matchup. So if you all pop Amnesia during your day of a 1 v 1^4, it will count for you, but when it is portal's turn that plat is simply gone and the synergy will not come into play for that matchup. As for 3on3 freestyle, if you are talking about switching regions or lists to take advantage of the auto-popped regional trophies, those will not count. Scrubslayers - Kent Mesopithecus - 15 (3) #Lazygains Tearraven - 751 (18) [5] #Lazygains wins the series, 3-1 Congratulations to #LazyGains for being the best four person team in the league. Tearraven brought a good effort every single week on the way to recording the 2nd highest score in the league, while Zajac and ExsphereBrawler also showed up strong during their HTC periods and recorded solid overall scores to support the team. Maybe the team MVP though was Prinny, who successfully baited us after scoring 12 points in the regular season by coming out of nowhere with 400+ to upset Stalker and all but seal the win for his team. Well played to all of you! I want to give a big shout out and thanks to Stalker as well. It looked grim for us from the beginning but you never gave up and managed to record quite a few nice platinums. I really appreciate that, and I take most of the responsibility for you losing to Prinny (:absolutelydisgusting:) as it was pretty clear in hindsight that you could've saved a bit more but I was overly cautious and paranoid. One extra UR plat and you hold on vs. Prinny and I probably beat Tear in our originally scheduled game 4 winner-take-all match, but it's ok we came further than a 2-player team had any right to. Oops. Thanks to all the other teams for making the league what it was, especially the members of Boatiful Boating Boat (sorry about that faceoff HTC guys!)
