While we both acknowledge the history of this event and how it has developed neither of us feel happy with what is quickly becoming apparent, a very one sided and unfair point system to the field at large. It is without a doubt the new point system favours a volume hunter approach, to a degree so extreme that no other points on offer will even matter. Most alarming is that it is so in favour of myself and Demon that it was basically over before it even started. I don't presume to influence the admins that is why we will both be withdrawing from this event. Having said that I feel this is a very disappointing effort from the admins with no real forethought especially in relation to the minuscule point loading on backlog games and completion percentage. Both of which can, and have been in effect negated in a few days play. I cant speak for everyone else but I didn't enter to win, you guys are clearly in a league of your own but I'm here more for the community aspect than the chance of winning but fair play good on you guys for giving the others a chance. Glad to see you guys will still be around though

Glad to see you guys will still be around though This is the best post I have seen since CJ pulled out...... ? In all seriousness I enter this comp for the same reason as last season to give me a push in getting my backlog down. I enjoyed the community and seeing other members post their updates. however If I was to join a comp like THL on this site or on .org then my trophies would go crazy for a couple of months until I burn out. But this is a slim chance of taking place as THL on here you need to be invited, (I don't post enough). THL over there is still not decided if it will take place again. But until plat 300 my trophies will not be doing anything amazing. I have a path set and I will not break it. I hope.

Glad to see you guys will still be around though After a few years of playing with him it was only a matter of time before Cj pulled out and came up with a crazy plan. I think a lot of us are definitely on the same wavelength regarding playing for fun and community rather than competing, I started off competing when the comps first started but I definitely don't see it as important now as I did then. I think it's far more enjoyable to play games you want at your own rate and chat with others then to burn yourself out playing anything and everything, not to say that I don't give people like Cj/War/etc props for being able to consistently smash out trophies, It takes a lot more dedication than I could ever put in that's for sure. 2 hours ago, Ethan said: I taught you well Sensei of Shame Is it just me or does it seem like Ethan's been heavily concussed lately? Popular Post TheWayne-o
Reading a few of the posts in the thread from the past day or so has made for some interesting reading and something I didn't really expect if I'm perfectly honest. There appears to be a much larger undercurrent of unhappiness and disappointment regarding how the competition is being run than has ever been brought to my attention by anybody really. Sure I get small mentions of things here and there (as anybody who has ever run a competition here will understand) but it seems to be pretty much at the point that people don't appreciate the effort that is being put in. I mean over the past 2 and a bit years I've put in 100s of hours doing things for this competition and just like everyone else here I have other things that I could be doing with that time. The whole point of trying something different with the points system this year was to make people feel more like they were getting something of equal value to the effort they were putting in, hence the allocation of points for each trophy earned and the rankings at the end of each month being scrapped. Sure this was going to benefit the "volume hunters" and the point of having 2 divisions was to try an make it so everybody could "compete" with players close to their level, unfortunately we didn't any real interest from people around the level that would've put them in division 2 forcing me to throw everyone together. Anybody who actually read the scoring system would've worked out that this would've been the outcome when everybody was thrown together, since I made that announcement I've had a total of zero complaints. Perhaps the lack of interest from more casual players like myself is a sign itself that the scoring system is flawed but having a different system wouldn't have changed the outcome, the same players would've ended up at the top anyway albeit the scores on the leaderboard would've been closer. The purpose of creating this "competition" was to create a community for people to enjoy playing games together, sharing thoughts and experiences of games and just to have a bit of fun and give each other shit. That's why I continued to compete in and run an event that I was constantly at the bottom of, I never had any chance of winning nor did I have any expectations that I would be anywhere other than at the bottom. However, it has become clear that many of the people here don' appreciate what I've tried to build and would rather take things way too seriously. Anyway in summary, this competition has become something that is no longer fun to run and I have decided that I will be canceling it. There are too many other things in my life that I would get much more enjoyment from and my time would be better spent on them. Thanks to everybody that has participated in this competition over the past two and a bit years and I wish you all the best in whatever other competition is born as a result of this one being canned. All the best to everyone, I'm sure that I'll see you guys around the forums from time to time.

All the best to everyone, I'm sure that I'll see you guys around the forums from time to time. I’m sorry to hear this Wayne. I always thought this “comp” was a good place to sledge and have fun with others without really bothering with trophy figures (I personally stopped caring about the points a while ago) and you’ve done a good job at keeping up a place for everyone to be social and talk about their games or play sessions together which I thank you for giving that opportunity to all of us. I haven’t ran a comp myself due to understanding the effort you’d have to put it so I admire your ability to go ahead and do that the last two or so years. Hopefully someone else might step up to the plate if they have the patience and time to do so, I’m sure everyone will try to stay in touch over the PS chat systems either way so there’s definitely a lot of good that’s come from it. Cheers mate.

damage_6-9
There were points? Wasn't even concerned about them myself, just loved the banter- paying out on people and being paid out (if you can't take it, don't give it), seeing what everyone else is playing ( to get ideas of games with which to increase my backlog, lol). Seeing the play styles of different people- sheer mind numbing volume; steady, persistent, completist dedication to one game at a time; selfless helping of others with mp shit that was long done for them; random pop a few trophies and move on to something else, etc. Oh well, guess I'll finish my beer, put the bins out ( anyone that looks in my recycle bin probably thinks I'm an alcoholic), and go to bed. Popular Post adam1984123
Ok, I have put together my proposal on how I think this would work best. If enough people are interested, we can kick on, business as normal. Before I start the post though, I would like to publicly acknowledge @MattyH16 for the work he has done for this comp over the last 18 months or so. He, like Wayne, has spent many hours running this for no reward. So, thanks Matt for all your efforts. Here goes.... The Great Australian Trophy Hunt Season 3 v2.0 The Rules on page 1 are all the same and go without saying, the only changes here are to the scoring system: Scoring: There are 3 ways to earn points in this competition: points awarded at the end of each month for earning trophies, backlog challenge , and "fame and shame". Below is a further explanation on how points are awarded for each of these categories. ***Each player has a Trophy Multiplier based on their total trophy count for 2017 (Jan-Dec). You total points for EARNING TROPHIES ONLY will be multiplied by your multiplier to get your final score for the month. This has been calculated with the highest earner being off a multiplier of 1.0 and all other players have a multiplier boost as a percentage of their earnings vs. the top earning player for 2017. Based on current entrants, @cjshai will have a multiplier of 1.0 and @fmfab will have a multiplier of 4.188 due to him earning approximately 1 trophy for every 4 of the top player. This is simply worked by dividing @fmfab's total for 2017 by @cjshaitan's total for 2017. Earning Trophies - Each trophy that you earn throughout the month will have a value equivalent to the points the trophy is worth on the PSNP leader board (i.e. bronze = 15 points, silver = 30 points, gold = 90 points & platinum = 180 points). Scores will be calculated monthly and be multiplied by your multiplier to get your total score for the month. For example: In March @cjshaitan earns 1000 points. His final score for the earning trophies category is 1000 x 1 = 1000 points. @simpgraus earns 150 points. His final score is 180 x 6.547 = 1178. @simpgraus would be awarded 25 points and @cjshaitan would be awarded 20 points. Points will then be handed out monthly as follows: 1. 25 2. 20 3. 15 4. 12 5. 10 6. 9 7. 8 8. 7 9. 6 10. 5 11. 4 12. 3 13. 2 14. 1 15. 1 16+. 0 Backlog Challenge - each participant can nominate 10 games from their backlog (because we all suffer from this dreaded curse) that they plan to play throughout the season and earn points for completing them. Once you have named your 10 choices you won't be able to change them so pick carefully, choices must be submitted by the commencement of the competition. To be eligible for this category games must: either not appear on your profile (having not been played yet) or have a completion of 10% or less if it already appears on your profile, the game must have been released prior to 31st December 2016 and the game must have a platinum trophy (it can be a retail or digital release). Each backlog game will be worth a maximum of 100 points! The final points awarded for each game are calculated based upon rarity of the platinum trophy at the end of the month it was earned, the formula being used for calculations is 100 x (1 - rarity). Rarity will be rounded to a single decimal place and points will be rounded to the nearest .5 point. Therefore, a platinum has a 12.94% rarity will earn a total of 87.1 points (100 x 0.871 - then rounded). Backlog points are then added together (assuming you finish multiple backlog games in a month, if you don't no adding is required!) Points will awarded in the same fashion as earning trophies, from highest score to lowest: 1. 25 2. 20 3. 15 4. 12 5. 10 6. 9 7. 8 8. 7 9. 6 10. 5 11. 4 12. 3 13. 2 14. 1 15. 1 16+. 0 Fame and Shame - each month the top 5 players who earns the rarest platinum will earn "fame" along with 25, 20, 15, 10, & 5 points (you can't stack points if you have multiple positions in the top 5, 1 per player per month). And the single player who earns the most common platinum trophy will earn "shame" along with a deduction of 5 points. Points from all 3 categories are then added together to get your final score for the month, with a max score of 75 possible. Below is the trophy multiplier for all to see what everyone will be playing off. https://ibb.co/gtFDk7 Happy to hear what you have to say. If enough people are ready to go with this, its business as usual. Also, I am happy to put up a $50 PSN card for the winner, $20 PSN card for 2nd and $10 for third. If people would like to spice it up a touch. EDIT: @fisty123 has kindly offered to donate some psn cards too so the prize is now $100 for the winner $50 for second and $20 for third. Thanks Fisty. Even if most of us have a drinking issue or a slave labor system to make people work for us. @adam1984123 I am down for this comp. My questions are as followed; Does this comp start from the new month? or right away? if right away will the same submitted backlog list work even if we started one of them games? Will you allow for other members to join if someone wanted to but had not joined already? Maybe a 1 week window or something.
