That's not the new one? Well I know. Far Cry Primal is, at least for me, a spin-off in the Far Cry series. I played FC 3 and FC 4 and normaly it all about shooting bad guys with your weapons. This one is set 10000 B.C so now guns here. Instead of using pistols, machine guns and rocket launcher you use primitive weapons like spears, bows or clubs. You are a member of the Wenja tribe fighting against the other tribes around. For that you atablish a little village inside a cave by rescuing Wenja to grow your village. With materials found all over the map you can upgrade your village to gain some bonuses like the aballity to learn more skills or just experience. I don't know what the story wil be about just yet as I'm not far into it. Most af the time I tried to gather materials and explore the map. Early in the game you meet a shaman who will show you how to tame the wild animals. From now on you can tame some specific animals and use them in fights afterwards. Each animal has other stats and special abillities like attacking unsuspicious enemies ore discovering the map around you and such things. Like in every Far Cry Ubisoft game you have a lot of collectables to find. Fortunately they are show on the map so not really hard to find, just a tedious task if you want all. You also have to collect flowers, wood and stone to upgrade your village, craft weapons.or heal yourselfe. Hunting animals will give you meat and hides for crafting new bags to carry more meat ore hides. All in all I enjoyed my time with this game. It's not like the other Far Cry games but still fun. The only downside is the combat. Most of it is melee with little ranged weapons so far. You can also throw your clubs or spear but you only have a very limited amount of them. You can craft new ones but need materials for them and they can be used up pretty fast in combat without the abillity to get more. Time played: 3h 15min Trophies: 5/51 Rating: I'll write my final summary later today. Markus, The crafting and skills trees will make this game more fun. As you advance, you unlock a bird ( hawk? eagle? Can't remember), that gives you aerial vision. So you can do some reconnaissance from above. Eventually, you will unlock weapons for the bird and be able to drop ordinance on your enemies. There will come a point where you can take over outposts without even stepping foot in the camp. Also, not sure if you've unlocked the animal taming yet but do so asap. You can't travel very far in the wild if you don't have a big animal by your side protecting you. Early in the game, I would try to explore, only to get mauled by a big-ass beast. The game really does it well. I'd be walking around and then stop and say "did I hear something?" Two seconds later, I'd be flattened by a beast flying in as fast as Jimmy Superfly Snuka. It was shit-my-pants scary! What turned me off of this game as how much you needed to rely on beast-vision to get through the game. Ubisoft put all this time into the graphics, only to make you play hours of it in gray-and-white so you can keep track of your prey. That highligher yellow gets really annoying. Popular Post Metal Slime King
Post event clean-up update. Brawlhalla Although I'm not technically done with this game I'm far enough along to give my final thoughts. The only trophies I have left are the last two grindy trophies, Account Level 40 and 100,000 Gold and the final grind is going to be crazy (more like Grindhalla). I'm around Lv37 and just got the trophy for 50,000 gold and you pick up XP way faster than gold so unless the XP level requirements are sharply exponential I'll still have plenty of gold to grind when I hit Lv40. I'm done playing against other people in matchmaker and instead playing online private timed matches against bots as that seems to be the most efficient method to get gold and I've already got all the trophies that I needed to get in matchmaker. Even using this most efficient method it would take 83 hours of straight play to grind out that last 50,000 gold! Obviously I won't be doing that all in one session and things like daily login bonuses, daily mission bonuses, bonuses for levelling up different characters and bonuses for account levelling up will help. So I'll be popping into this game on a daily basis for a couple of rounds for quite awhile if I want that plat. The only real amendment I would make to my original review, after playing with a bunch of different characters is this. Each character can equip two weapon types and each weapon type has it's own moveset but each character also has their own unique signature moves with those weapon types. For example each spear user has the same air attacks with the spear but they each have unique standing / crouching fierce spear moves. So although all characters generally control the same there is a reason to try different character / weapon combinations to see which signature moveset works best for you. When I was having the most fun with this game, going for the matchmaker specific trophies, I was thinking I should upgrade my rating for this game to a gold but now that all I'm left with is a crazy, boring grind I think I'll stick with my original silver rating. Completion: (37 out of 40 trophies) 82% Dungeon Punks Finished this game and grabbed my first plat from this event . I didn't find the New Game+ run to be excessively grindy but other games may have compromised my perception of "too grindy" (see above, lol). Obviously the story wasn't as funny the second time through which can be an issue when humour is carrying your game. It was a weird choice to have all quest related characters only give you an ellipses in their text box in New Game+, I don't know why let you redo the quests or clear up the 100% quest trophy if you missed it in New Game+. Fortunately I got 100% quest completion on my first normal game run, I would not be very enthusiastic for starting this game from the beginning again. Another issue with New Game+ is there is a character on the ship between levels who you can buy weapons and armour from, at a certain point they stop selling new equipment (I think it was item Lv26) so for most of New Game+ your ability to keep your equipment at an effective level is dependant solely on random drops and gold becomes all but worthless. There is an NPC in an earlier level who can upgrade your currently held equipment for gold. The gain is negligible but you might as well blow your millions of worthless gold on something. You could spend millions to upgrade your current weapon by 50,000 damage then find a random drop in the next level that is 600,000 damage better still. I think the best strategy would be to depend on random drops until the last level and then spend all your collected gold on your final weapon set for the final push. If, for whatever reason, you like BIG NUMBERS in your RPG's then you should get a kick out of New Game+. I'll stick with my silver rating but it's a borderline silver, certainly not a strong recommendation. I most definitely would not recommend paying money for what is ultimately a flash game with trophy support. Completion: (29 out of 29 trophies) 100%

I already have the bird (I think it was an owl) and the beast taming. I even tamed a few beast and think I have a good one for the start. Regarding the skill trees, in my opinion there are too many. It's hard to decide what to learn next. A few less would be better if you ask me. The first and only outpost I took over so far wasn't hard to do sneaky. You can lure the enemies pretty easy and kill them with the bow from out of sight. I have to agree on the beast vision. Most of the time I played I had it activated. A toggle button would be a better option in this game, instead of having to activate it every time it runs out. Despite my rating I enjoyed what I played, it just didn't feel like a real Far Cry but more than something else.
Popular Post Hemiak
Post Event Wrap Up I pretty much half assed the event. While I did get my three hours per game I was much more focused on the plat race I was in off site. I did end up winning that by the way, though it kind of seems like I was really the only one taking it seriously so I don't keep track of too many stats, my starting completion was 75.05%, at one point it was just over 74%, and it's currently at 74.93%, though it was over 75.1% before I started a new game last week. I started 8 games this month, 3 for the race and 5 specifically for the event. Since the event started I've earned one trophy from Lego Jurassic with my son, a bunch from Knack, which is almost complete, and I Started Magicka 2 with some buddies. Game rankings Furi This game easily takes the top spot for the month. I had been wanting to start this for a while but always putting it off for one reason or another. The combat is tight, the story is minimal but well written and presented. Each boss has its own personality and makes you play slightly different. The visuals are amazing, and even as a guy who normally doesn't even notice audio, this game sounds fantastic. I found the game satisfyingly challenging without being frustrating. I would recommend playing this to anyone who isn't turned off by a bit of difficulty. The Witness On the other end of the gaming spectrum is The Witness. It's a first person puzzle game about a guy trapped on an island. You have to solve increasingly difficult puzzles for some vague purpose, with very little explanation unless you find/solve some completely optional side puzzles. I really enjoyed learning new mechanics in each area and combining them to solve the complex puzzles. I probably figured out 95%+ of the game without any hints, and that helped me finish the final challenge with about an hours work. I would definitely recommend this one to anybody who likes puzzles and exploration. Mirrors Edge Catalyst I loved the first game and I like this one a lot. It's better in some ways, worse in others, but still a lot of fun to play. They took more effort in the story this time and fleshing out the characters. I'm not a huge open world fan so that feels like a step in the wrong direction for me, but there isn't an overwhelming amount of side stuff that you have to do unless you want a ton of xp. The upgrades could be cool, except that they're locked behind story completion so you can end up with a bunch of points you can't spend if you do side stuff early. Complaints aside it's a blast to run around Glass City and find the various routes to get where you are heading. Downwell It's an Ugly AF 2D action game about a boy falling down a well. There's no story, 8 bit graphics and sound, and a good bit of challenge to overcome. That being said it's pretty darn addicting to master the controls and enemies and keep pushing deeper into the well. It's also a pretty good game to pick up and play for short bursts, and I've played through normal a few times since I earned plat, though I haven't completed hard a second time yet. I would recommend this if you like a challenge, 2D shooter gameplay, retro arcade graphics, or your name isn't Billy. Bound A very interesting game. Basically two games in one. A 3D platformer where a dancer navigates a crazy polygonal world, and also a journey of self discovery and overcoming child hood fears. Visuals are pretty amazing and the story is told in a creative way. / Rime An exploration game with light puzzle aspects. The game is presented well but gets boring after a while. It's becoming more interesting the farther I get so this may change. Shantei: Riskys Revenge An HD remake of a game from... Eh, I don't remember. It's a. 2D.action platformer about a half-genie... However the hell that works. The game feels stiff and kind of awkward. I'll go back eventually, but it definitely didn't grab me on my initial time with it. The Witcher 3 Reserving judgment of this one for now. Game looks fantastic and seems really good, but my three hours was barely enough to scratch the surface, and the combat feels off to this point. I despise that the game allows me to continue after death but takes my gold. I'd rather just reset to an earlier save since I've reached a point where I have no healing items, and no money to buy/make more. I need to dedicate some serious time to this before I feel justified in giving it an actual rating. The only game I didn't earn a single trophy in during the event. And that's all. 8 games, four plats, a slight decrease in completion. Felt like a decent selection of game genres and overall enjoyment this time. Nothing truly terrible but a few that didn't meet expectations. As always, feel free to continue posting updates or whatever at this point. And happy gaming everybody. voodoo_eyes
I tried to go back to Gravity Rush 2. Started the DLC to see, if I'd like it more and the conclusion is--- I don't. Actually it gaev me more reason to dislike the game. You can save the game at any time, that apparently doesn't matter though. I progressed through the first section of the first episode, saved and quit the game. When I loaded it back up it started me at the very beginning of the mission. Again, bad game design in my book. If I can't load the save from where I left off, then why give me the option to do so? That's just dumb. Furthermore I still think the controls are clunky and the aerial attacks are incredibly inaccurate. To top things off, I finished episodes 3 and 4 yesterday and felt ill after playing for less than 2 hours straight. I'm going to give it one more shot with the main game, and if that should happen again I'm just gonna drop it for good.
DamagingRob
@voodoo_eyes Shame you're not enjoying Gravity Rush 2 as much as I did. Star Ocean was finally vanquished yesterday! I still have a fairly high opinion of it, but some of the Platinum requirements are dumb. Like the 1.5 Kingdom Hearts games on the PS3, the difficulties do not stack, so you have to do 3 whole playthroughs. And when a lot of the story can't be skipped, and you have to keep save scumming to craft powerful equipment so you can survive the higher difficulties, it can get pretty tedious. Then there's the Battle Trophies.. While most aren't completely ridiculous, one requires one million hits. After 3 playthroughs and doing all the other BTs, I had a whopping 131k. ._. So, I basically had to set the game up in a way, where my party could fight and kill one of the postgame dungeon bosses while I was afk. This took them about 3 hours each time, and only accumulated around 80k per fight. I played Psycho Pass on my Vita, while this was going on. But you can see how dumb of a requirement this was? 25-30 hours of idling.. But I'm thrilled to have it as a milestone, as I thought it was a great game and I love the series. Also Platinumed Titan Souls. Just had to beat the last boss on Hard, from where I left off during the event. And it took a number of tries, as rust had set in and I was never that good at killing him to begin with. Lol. But I prevailed. Don't know what I'll go back to next from my KYC games.
voodoo_eyes
@Fidel It's indeed a shame, as I was looking forward to playing it for a long time and finally bought it a few months ago. Currently it looks like I'll end up trading it in though. Oh well, it's not like I don't own enough games to keep me entertained .
Hemiak
Earned the for Knack this morning. It wasn't one of my KYC events because my son had already earned a trophy in it on my account last month. It's a mediocre game at best imo. It looks cool but the story is pretty bland and predictable, and the combat is atrocious. Going to plat was an exercise in frustration, and patience, and I'm glad I never have to touch this game again. Will definitely never spend money on the 2nd game. Now I'm going to focus on Rime with Mim, and Catalyst in my spare time. @voodoo_eyesKnack does the same thing in regards to saving. Doesn't matter how far you get, you always start at the beginning of whatever chapter you're in. At least it tracks if you opened any chests, though everything else resets. Does GR2 save your progress on collectibles, challenges, and upgrades at least. If not, then there's really no reason for the random saves.
voodoo_eyes
@Hemiak Collectibles in the first episode of the DLC don't get saved (it's one of the few missions, if not the only one that has collectibles). Not sure how it is in the main game as I haven't seen any collectibles yet. In the main game I'm actually not sure if you can save during a mission, as I always saved after completing the mission. Popular Post Kevvik
Finished my 3rd game from this edition of KYC - A Rose in the Twilight I really enjoyed this game. Good puzzler and the time attack works well. Your initial times are logged and summed up following completion of the main story. You can then replay levels in normal mode to get any of the collectibles you may have missed or replay in time attack mode to drop the times, slowly lowering your cumulative time. I only had to work to get the last minute and a half of reduction once I went through and knocked some really slow exploring levels down for speedrun. Redoing a few levels for 10 seconds here and there brought me down for the gold and it wasn't too painful as the controls work well though it took some planning. The story really played out interestingly from the blood memories. Final score - 8.5/10 Went through another section of Amnesia. I love this game. Great atmosphere though looking to get all the tinderboxes could slow you down if you are an impatient gamer. Looking forward to see how the story plays out. Also did some mucking about with Mitsurugi Kamui Hikae. Finished the easy and normal run-throughs. It still really boring. Each run through is reasonably short though so the pain is minimal. We'll see how the hard run goes. Later, not for a while though. Slowly recovering my completion rate and 171 trophies remaining from this event's games. Popular Post Metal Slime King
More clean-up. Q.U.B.E.: Director's Cut Cleaned up the last trophy I needed for the PS4 version and stacked the PS3 version as well. I actually got the 6th fastest achiever on PSNP for the PS3 version with 3 hours and 55 minutes by doing the speed run levels first and then going through the story mode in one sitting. I had a unique technical issue with the PS3 version auto-saving not actually saving. It really sucked to get gold in one of the time trials only to go to the main menu again and realize the time didn't save. I don't know what caused the game to go into it's glitched state, whether it was restarting from the middle of the level or what but in order to ensure I was saving my times I had to constantly close the game completely and start it again fresh between each run. Fortunately the levels were still fresh in my head from the PS4 version and it didn't take too many runs to get the required amount of gold times to unlock the one time trial level with a trophy associated with it. That trophy is pretty much just for doing the level in the intended manner and that level was one of the more enjoyable time trial levels. The main reason why I then went through the story in one sitting was that I was uncertain whether the save function actually worked. As it stands I would still be interested in QUBE 2. Hopefully it's a little more polished technically and the emphasis on timed levels has been somewhat reduced. @The Spark Care to comment?

I'm always willing to talk about stuff I never 100%ed the first game, I gave up on the challenge speedruns. I thought it was a very cool game though. I haven't bought the sequel yet - in the end, I decided that the asking price was a bit much for how short it seemed to be according to howlongtobeat.com and seeing as I still have plenty of backlog games... Decided to finally get through Assassin's Creed Origins, which had been sitting on the shelf for way too long considering how much I enjoyed it. I'll definitely want to play Q.U.B.E. 2 but I'll wait for the first or second sale, depending on what I'm doing at that point.

Popular Post PerryToxteth
So, 15 days after the event and a quick update. DizzyShadow further destroyed my completion percentage with his recommendation of Cars 3: Driven to Win. This was definitely my quickest purchase based on a KYC review! I got it for my son's birthday and he loves it! Fun, MarioKart-style game with different racing modes. I'm surprised at how grindy some of the trophies are, though no task seems too difficult...yet. Also, I hate to admit this, but Billy Horrible is right (dammit! ). Watch Dogs 2 is a more fun game than the original. I have been plugging away at this since the beginning of the month and it's become addicting. Turns out my early-game frustrations were because I hadn't unlocked enough tools for hacking. The concept of Watch Dogs is too complete a task by staying stealthy and using your hacking tools without being seen. Come to think of it, that fits the "stay stealthy" criteria for many Ubisoft games like the Far Cry series, the Assassins Creed franchise. I digress... Now that I have cool tools to use, the fun of the game is fucking with people. With your phone, you can start up a car and run over an enemy, steal money out of their bank account, 'SWAT' a bystander by putting an APB on them, etc., etc. And The game really plays like a puzzler. There aren't many collectibles in the game, but there are lots of things (i.e. Key Data, research points) you need to collect to unlock better tools. And a good chunk of that is spent figuring out how to attain these items. Sometimes you need to figure out how to climb up buildings, sometimes you need to use your jumper (a remote control vehicle), and sometimes you need to unlock hacking nodes in a pattern. It's all quite fun and there are tons of side missions to keep the gameplay from getting stale. That said, I think I prefer the first Watch Dogs to the sequel. While WD2 ranks higher in the fun factor, the story is atrocious. An absolute millennial-themed disaster. While the first WD's story was dark involving a rogue hacker, it essentially followed the same plot line throughout the game involving revenge against a single organization. WD2's story revolves around performing tasks to gain more online followers and gain better exposure for your underground hacking organization (which consists of you and four dorks). See the hypocrisy in that premise? Gain more notoriety for a secret organization? I will continue to enjoy WD2 for the rest of the month, though I haven't turned on the online element yet. That may prevent me from getting the platinum. May will be devoted to AC Syndicate. PS - I also continue to plug away at in-game awards in Battlefield 1, a game from November's KYC. I loathe MP games, but this one is a hell of a lot of fun! According to the game's app, I've put over 40 hours into it. For the platinum, I need to go back to the single-player campaign and do tasks and pick-up collectibles, but frankly, the MP game is way more fun. I have picked up all the task-specific dlc trophies - some were fun, some were a bitch. The only MP trophies I have left are unlocking weapons, and it's a really, really long grind. I might not even be able to attain these trophies but I really don't care. I'm having too much fun! (Btw, the MP trophies for the plat are really easy). Happy gaming!!
Popular Post Hemiak
Earned the plat for Mirrors Edge Catalyst yesterday. Good game with a few irritating flaws. I enjoyed the story much more than the first, and the side missions were decently varied and fleshed out a few of the characters. As a whole movement is easier than the first game, which in my book is not a plus. In the original you had to work to get up to top speed and maintain it. In Catalyst you hit R2 and she's immediately sprinting, she also loses less speed when you make mistakes. More beginner friendly, but less incentive to learn to play well. Imo the Dashes were a poor substitute for the time trials and speedruns from the first game. Instead of learning to pull off outrageous move combos at top speed, you pretty much just need to figure out the correct route and not make any major mistakes. I feel like in trying to make this more appealing to the masses they lost a lot of what made the first game amazing. Don't get me wrong it's still a ton of fun to play through the story, but the collectibles and random side tasks (not The actual missions) are all pretty bleh. Still I'd stay with my rating for this game, because I don't want to lower it due to stupid plat requirements.
DamagingRob
Plats for Mass Effect: Andromeda and Dreamfall Chapters obtained, and my completion is now higher than what I began this installment of KYC with! Just have World of Final Fantasy left from this event's list. Dreamfall is not the kind of game that should require two playthroughs, in my opinion. Kind of boring to do a second time. And Shitbot >>>>>>>>>>>> Kidbot. LOL. But it only took me a day to rush through. Mass Effect stayed entertaining throughout, and I put about 40 more hours into the campaign. Planets are so large, and have so many sidequests! I did encounter some bugs, but nothing too bad. Besides a trophy I had to delete the patch for, that is.. Saves from an updated version can not be loaded with an unpatched game, so I had to start a new one. The trophy appears to be retroactive, though, as as soon as I was able to equip a profile the trophy popped. Didn't have to wait till I had 3 again. Took less than an hour. I really liked how your party members would have conversations, while you were out and about. Kept things interesting, and some of them were really funny. Like PeeBee faking an orgasm, to see if Jaal was really asleep. She was probably my favorite character. Made me laugh a lot. I guess they wanted to make sure you don't miss out on any of the sexual references along the way .

Some of them are a bit more subtle, like a reference to a bed being rather bouncy.or the more blatant ones about a certain "Rod of Joie". To be fair some of those lines are actually what make that game more interesting than your average adventure game. Although I think they went a bit overboard with it, as it becomes somewhat excessive.

Glad to hear he is enjoying it and that i could be of some help, I've lost count of the number of games i've bought after hearing about them in these threads. You are right about it being grindy, i got the platinum earlier this week but i did question a couple of times whether i was going to slog it out or not, i think its the only reason that the platinum is below 20% rarity. There is definitely nothing to difficult as you can always play on easy which removes the challenge, the one thing to watch out for is the skill point which requires you to get 3 stars on a best lap challenge as lowering the difficultly doesn't help here, but its still easiest enough to get after a few attempts. i also had to manufacture a couple of the other skill points in multiplayer as they seemed entirely luck based on having the right weapon at exactly the right moment. That was actually my 4th platinum from the event (along with Hidden Agenda, Walking Dead & Burnout Paradise), my completion is now back above where is started, i fully intend to go back and finish some of the other games (Madden & De Blob) at the very least, but God of War arrived today so that will be stealing my time for the immediate future.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Well, I have officially finished every game on this installment's list. Platinumed World of Final Fantasy last night. Think this may be the first time I've completed every game from one of these? The shorter list is probably why. Lol. While I enjoyed it for the most part, there were quite a bit of stupid requirements for the Platinum, and my enjoyment dropped drastically because of it. First came some god-awful minigames that were a real pain to get the trophies for. Tidus's was the most difficult for me, as it was hard to judge how much power you needed to put into a shot. And it took me a long time to finally get the 3,000 point requirement. And Terra's would have been fine, if all you had to do was win it. But then they also decided to put a hidden requirement for a Mirage in there.. Takes a lot of luck to win in 20 or less turns, and with nobody dying. Post game dungeons were a real slog to get through, and I continuously had to restart the first one. Got a bit easier after that, and I was able to keep my entire party from falling. But that first one, man.. Then came the grind. ._. Completing 100 Mirage Boards is a stupid requirement, and a completely pointless waste of a player's time. Collecting them all I can kind of get. It's like Pokémon and the Pokédex. But I really don't see the value in filling out almost every Mirage's Board. And then came the capture of Master Tonberry... This made me consider hanging this game up. Nothing I tried was working, and it was really starting to annoy me. Not to mention, I'd been grinding crap in this game all day (probably should have paced myself better). But I finally found a method that worked (the XL version of Behemoth and a critical hit from his Revenge Blast), caught the rest of the ones I needed, went back to grinding levels, and finished this one off. So, anyways, this one took me just over 60 hours of playtime. Around 15 or those were not fun at all, so I would still rank this below Mass Effect: Andromeda. The game is still good and worth playing, but far from my favorite Final Fantasy. Edited May 9, 2018 by Fidel
