Popular Post kingofbattle8174
Completed two of the games off my KYC list. True they are both easier titles, but it is a start. The Town of Light. Not much more to say but the alternate paths do not bring much to the story. They could have instead the whole story longer. Since the is only one ending and the few branching paths only minutely change events. The ending though is one that will sit with you for awhile. No happy ending here. Burly men at Sea I found the internal stamina to get through the last few runs. It was cute at first but it got old fast. The lack of directions I also found irratating . If not for ps plus, I doubt I would have selected it.
Popular Post vin_rob
.Hack This is sort of my first ish. Hack game, I played a view hours ago on the ps2 ages ago. But when I started this game it totally wasn’t what I remembered it to be. I know this was a remake etc. but this wasn’t what I expected. My memory told me this was an anime kind of game small characters etc. But when I started the game, ok it was anime style, but not what I was expecting. Just as other games I played this was also an RPG. At the start of the game, you are a newb in the game and you get owned.. but a bit later you seem like a badass with way too much power. I guess the training paid after almost being PK’d.You are hunting player killers because of that. But there is 1 player you really are looking for. Because reasons I still need to really find out in the rest of the story, but yeah when you fight him. You lose en you lose all your power with a skill called data drain. When you go back in the game, you are back to a level 1 adept rogue, and people you stopped are searching for you, in other words… you need to get stronger fast, so you can protect yourself again. But when you log in some players see you and think you are a starter (and want to help you) to make a long story short, you join them… and sort of becoming their guild leader. Battle style is you click a button and do something, and there are skills obviously. Because this is the remake there are 4 games in this one trophy list so yet again it lowered my percentage a good amount. I got 12 out of 52 trophies, 17%
Popular Post vin_rob
Dungeon Travelers 2 Ok to start this off, I would have liked to have some more time with this game. I know I’ve been late with reviews sorry. This sort of keeps happening. But Dungeon Travelers 2, is a dungeon crawler rpg.. you move around on a dungeon map, where random encounters appear. Every time you beat an enemy you get a sort of card. You can use an x amount of cards to merge it in an item you could use to enhance one of your ability's. You the main character are sort of the leader of a group of adventurers. But for now in my game, the group exist of you (male) and your teammates (all girls) and your team actually does all the fighting, you are only responsible for turning the monsters you beat in those card items you get after winning the battle. And there are some powerful enemies in the dungeon that you must beat. Must be a coincidence but I think about 50% to 80% are "female" ish monsters For now, I’ve completed a view dungeons/jobs doing the job I’ve gotten from the Royal Library. And I recently unlocked quests so that is what I’ve been doing until now. I’ve got 13 out of 31 trophies, 24% so again this lowered my completion. This event was good, there was only 1 game that didn’t lower my completion.

Lol. I don't know what to make of this multiplayer... I'm already over 10 hours in, and have no idea what I'm doing. Likely going to lead to it taking me a lot longer than other people. I see a lot of stuff on the forums about what to farm and build in the endgame. But I need to make some decent shit to get there first, and I don't know how to go about doing that.. I'm starting to think Monster Hunter-type games are really not for me. Had the same struggles with Freedom Wars, and not knowing what to farm or create. Basically, the premise of this multiplayer is simple. You go out on missions, with or without other people, and earn watts and gil for completing them. You then use the watts on a map thing to unlock nodes, which unlock more stuff. Rinse and repeat until you've unlocked everything. Simple, yeah? The problem is you have to farm randomly dropped materials from enemies, and craft good enough equipment to be able to complete the missions. You do level up, as well. But that's pretty slow, and not supposed to be as important as having good gear. I guess I'm making progress, though. As slow and incompetent as I feel.. And I got the Kenny trophy very early, when I tried the Daily Quest for the first time. Two very high leveled players carrying me and some other guy. I also beat the Three Stooges (guys from the main game) who show up in town from time to time, and you have the option of fighting them. Ignis sucked.. That damn counter attack he has would do 9,999 damage if it hit, and instantly kill me. ._. The battle system is pretty fun. Though it mainly consists of mashing , until you need to heal or warp. Lol. Warping is cool, and you can warp strike enemies. Allows you to cover large distances in a hurry. You also want to try and keep a food item held at all times, since this will revive you instead of the mission ending. So yeah, I don't know.. It's okay. Feels like a largely unnecessary DLC and a grindy one at that, though. Time played: 10+ hours. Trophy progress: 5/91 for 3% and an E rank. If you want help, or play a time let me know. I'm currently back into this game lol

Popular Post XX_FTW
Shame. That’s all I have. I’ve always enjoyed this event and have at the very least read along almost all of them. When I saw a new edition was up, I was excited to get in and play along again. I knew it would be a tough month with my current work schedule but I hoped it’d be okay with planning to play during commutes. And that’s how I got the 3 of 5 games started during the month, but I didn’t recover from the Thanksgiving travels and subsequent catch up at work to have the energy to play. The holiday was a combo-breaker on an already tenuous streak. Alas I enjoyed it while it lasted. It always gets me into the games languishing in my backlog. Since then, I cleared Burly Men at Sea for a neat platinum. And when I have enough energy, I play Deemo on the way home from work. Thanks for posting guys. I’ve enjoyed reading your thoughts and impressions.
Popular Post Metal Slime King
I've finished the base game content for Rayman Legends and I still need 1600 xp and 275,000 lumen for the platinum. I can grind lumen by replaying levels but that xp is all going to have to come from daily / weekly challenges. Even if I go by the very optimistic estimate of getting gold on every challenge it will still take an additional 10 weeks of daily play for the xp alone. Considering the daily challenges are quite samey, I think they should've balanced the xp requirements a little better. Regarding the base game itself, I really liked the rhythm based levels but it was a poor choice to use an assortment of visually impairing filters to make the 'hard' versions more challenging. They were made more challenging simply by requiring you to go through them in one full run, the visual filters were just an additional annoyance. Some of the later 'Invaded' challenge levels were a nice challenge but none of them required a ridiculous amount of replays. I'll still stick with the rating but if it's in your backlog I'd start this ASAP to get the server stuff out of the way before there's any hint of closure. If the servers get a 3 month notice and the 'wrong' people all jump on to finish the online then you might not have enough time to get the plat.
Popular Post DamagingRob
Overtime! Final Final Review- FFXV So, here we are at the end of the road. It has been quite the long journey. My save file is just shy of 72 hours, but it's likely 50+ over that when you add the 40+ Comrades' playtime, and 3-4 hours per DLC episode. Got plenty of bang for my buck with this one, and I'm not sure I'm done yet. Well, I know I'm not, since there's one more DLC coming. But there's a FFXIV sidequest I'll probably check out, which doesn't give any trophies. But that might be it. Going through all the postgame dungeons, completing every hunt, or doing any other mundane sidequests I didn't do doesn't seem appealing. But yeah, this game was really good, in my opinion. They really kind of nailed the road trip vibe, which is how it starts out. You play as the son of a king, and are traveling with your friends/bodyguards to get married. Then... stuff happens. Every new place I arrived at filled me with a sense of wonder, as I took to exploring every nook and cranny of this beautiful world. Games have come out after this one that look better, of course. Namely, Horizon Zero Dawn. But the graphics are still pretty nice. Story seemed fine for the most part, though the latter half just kind of locks you out of exploration, and rushes you to the end. With the final chapter being, well, something. After beating the game, though, you can go back and explore to your heart's content. Nothing is truly missable from what I saw. The guys and people they meet along the way are all pretty interesting, too. Though, at one point, Gladio kinda becomes an intolerable douche.. They somewhat remind me of the Ninja Turtles, as well. Lol. Tough guy, smart guy, jokester, and leader. They also have their own quirks, though. Like Iggy discovering new cooking recipes all the time, or Prompto and his photo taking. The battle system is more active and actiony than past entries. Requiring you to block and dodge attacks, while trying to deal damage yourself. Thankfully, the game doesn't end if you run out of health, or I would have had many Game Overs. :/ Instead, you'll have a chance to revive yourself with Phoenix Downs when this happens. Leveling is also different, as you only receive your XP when sleeping. Some places and foods multiply it, so strategizing how to level up may be in order. Not everything was great, though. A couple of things started to annoy me. Like enemy dropships, which would always show up and overwhelm me if I was already in a fight. Or the fact your car can only drive on the road, and you have to run the rest of the way. With stamina causing you to stop to catch your breath every so often, unless you equipped the unlimited stamina accessory (removing one that can actually help in fights). And Ignis always making you sit through his dialogue/answer his question, if you try to drive at night.. Some of these things became lesser issues as time went on, though. Eventually, you do get a car that can drive offroad, and can rent chocobos. And enemies from dropships become easy to defeat after awhile. Ignis even stopped trying to get me to turn in for the night, so maybe that stops at a certain level. But there really is a lot to love here. A plethora of sidequests, monster hunts, fishing, postgame dungeons and more can keep you entertained for a good while. And I thought the game was fun as hell almost the entire time. voodoo_eyes
Finished up one of the older KYC games I still had in my backlog. Finally got the plat in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Lots of missions, lots of bugs, fell through the game world thrice, got run over by rebeles out of nowhere countelss times and yet it was still fun for the most part. That resource grind can go fuck right off though.
Popular Post Kevvik
Finished up Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault last month. My opinion didn't really change, still felt more like a tech demo than a real game. Also, I have htoL#NiQ: The Firefly Diary pretty much done. I left one trophy for Vita's 7th anniversary in Feb to pop then. Tokyo Twilight Ghost Hunters Daybreak: Special Gigs is almost complete as well. Three endings left and a whole lot of Hypernatural to finish up a nice UR plat for the Weeblympics. Finished one run through of Silent Hill 2 and have started a second so we'll see how that keeps going. Nice holidays so far, work done around the house, some visiting and a little more than the usual gaming time.
DamagingRob
I pretty much wrapped up what I had left to do in Rayman Legends. Now I'm just doing challenges everyday till I have the Plat.. Also finished my first playthrough of Shiness, and my opinion hasn't really changed. It's a great indie game. Soundtrack is incredible. Just have to beat it again without dying for the Plat, for which backing up my save to Plus should work. Oh, and I never mentioned I finished Homefront. :/ It was decent. voodoo_eyes
Got the platinum in Yomawari: Night Alone, so that's another game off the KYC list. Unfortunately it ended up getting downgraded to a . The mechanics are just have too much of a negative impact. Art style was great and story was interesting though. I'm hoping that Midnight Shadows tweaked the mechanics so they don't become annoying as well. I also decided to drop another 2 games from previous KYC (well 1 of them was from a previous one). Hyperdevotion Neptunia: Goddess Black Heart seemingly follows the trend of the main stream Neptunia series that expects you to grind early on. The game isn't good enough for it to warrant such a thing. The other game is Valkyria Revolution. This one is barely a at this point, as there's too much that I dislike about it. I disliked the characters and the presentation of the story. Still not sure what the weird insect eye filter is about. The combat is alright, but the progression system is poorly optimized. Towards the last few chapters the level difference is at least 10 levels, and that's with doing side missions in-between the main missions. Boss battles take forever, because the damage output doesn't scale properly due to a poor upgrade system. Grinding levels takes way too long and if you don't make separate saves the game will impede you from grinding at all, as it'll lock you into some main missions until their completion. Nonsensical design choice really.
Popular Post PerryToxteth
So I've almost gotten my completion percentage back to the pre-KYC8 number (88.5%) and wanted to give an update on my progress. I've completed 7 of the 10 games I played in the event and will chip away at the remaining three next month. Still Working On: - God of War. Since KYC8, I completed the story and took on the dreaded Physical Challenge trophy which nearly broke my PS3. Yes, I had to leave my nearly decade old PS3 on for 12 consecutive hours to get this damn trophy! Why? You have to do 10 challenges and there is no save option once you start. So quitting would be a complete restart. I got through the majority of challenges in four hours but had to step away for real life responsibilities. Six hours later, I had enough time to take on the last couple challenges. Oof. I struggled mightily on the final challenge for a good couple hours. Even YouTube wasn't helping much. I finally read on a forum which attack method worked best and that really helped. It really reminded me of Old School gaming, repeating for hours a task that will only take 90 seconds to correctly accomplish. BUT! Job done. I got it. All I have left for platinum is the 5 hour speed run trophy, but I find that daunting to do. What a dumb trophy. I suspect I will find a day next month to sit down and knock out this bear. - Spintires: Mudrunner. Haven't touched this much. Boosted one night to get an MP trophy out of the way but it's a hard one to pick up in short stints. It takes a LONG time to get anywhere in this game so it's good for a couple hour sitting and I just haven't had the impulse to do so. - F1 Race Stars. Knocked a few MP trophies out with boosting, which is essential in this ghost town lobby of a game. The platinum is going to take a lot longer than I expected in this and I now understand why this is an ultra rare plat. Finished: -11-11: Memories Retold. Finished the story, got the . The nice thing is, there is a chapter select to knockout random trophies so none are missable. Also, someone was gracious enough to put a collectible run on YouTube which makes the platinum doable. Some of the collectibles are ridiculously hard to stumble across, including a few time-sensitive ones, so a guide is definitely helpful for cleaning up. I'd recommend doing a blind playthrough first bc you will get about 2/3 of them without much effort, then cleanup using chapter select. The game has auto saves though so keep playing until that happens, otherwise it won't count! Story-wise, it was above average. - Knee Deep. I got through Act II in KYC and finished it soon after. And like a lot of Act III's, it underperformed; so much so, that I would drop my game rating of Knee Deep down to a . The story, while witty, went a suspense-of-reality direction that wasn't really needed. And the ending was about as satisfying as Star Wars: The Force Awakens so prepare for the sequel. - Detention. Finished it, nothing more to add. - LEGO: Pirates of the Caribbean. I was planning to shelve this game for awhile, but damn those LEGO games, they just pull me back in! It plays well as a pirate game, though deciphering the story through LEGO clips is comical. From what I could gather, Captain Octopus Face steals a treasure in a couple of the movies, and it's really hard to get it back from him because he has a crew of ghosts. Gameplay, I found the collectible run in this game to be more fun than other LEGO titles. And there isn't an ungodly amount of gold and red bricks to get. - Blackwood Crossing. Not a fun game. One playthrough is definitely enough so if you really do want to play this, use a guide. - Pic-a-Pix Color. Finished it. Loved it. Addicted to it. And Pic-A-Pix Pieces just came out. The second one is much more challenging so pick up Colors first if you are debating between the two. - Datura. Finished it. Still a ? Hope the New Year finds you happy, healthy and loved! Happy gaming!!
voodoo_eyes
Finished another game from the event. Got the plat in Uncharted: Lost Legacy and it still maintains it's initial evaluation. It looks great, plays great and is probably the one that mostly feels like an Indiana Jones movie. I wished they'd stop going with the same "rival party" routine though. Nevertheless, it's probably my favourite entry in the series so far (still need to play Uncharted 4). Main reason is that for once a game in this series didn't get some weird stuff put into it that made no sense. 1 had smeagols, 2 had some weird mutation/steroids boss fight and 3 had Yetis. All of twhich felt out of place. Anyway... I also finished up the story from a game that I played during the 1st KYC, which was One Piece: Unlimited World Red. It's still an average game. The story takes around 5 hours to beat and the rest is only collecting and grinding. Expected way more out of it and am therefore done with that game. I'll probably try focusing on finishing up the story of Tales of Berseria and Fate/ Extella (both from these events as well), before the next KYC begins. It's about time I start clearing my backlog a bit.

While in some series the standalone DLCs aren't necessarily connected to the main game, in Lost Legacy it's noticeable that part of the story is kind of missing, if you haven't played 4.
