Crash Team Racing - Trophy Wishlist

Greetings Creatures of this Forum... I've come to compete!!!

 

Today, I replayed adventure mode to 102% in the classic PS1 version of Crash Team Racing. While playing, I was wondering what kind of trophies would appear on June next year

I always wanted a remake of this game (since it's my favorite of all time), but I also wanted a specific trophy list. After playing Blur on PS3, I loved the way they made some trophies: the weapons trophies have a specific list of tasks to complete before unlocking it. I think this would work in this game as well, since is the same type of game (well, it's racing with power-ups).

 

So here's my example of list I would like to see

 x 1 = 180 pts

 x 4 = 360 pts

 x 13 = 390 pts

 x 18 = 270 pts

TOTAL = 1.200 pts

There are 4 save slots in Adventure mode on PS1. I completed the game with each type of driver which are:

• Crash Bandicoot / Dr. Cortex
• Tiny Tiger / Dingodile
• Dr. N. Gin / Coco Bandicoot

 Explosive Crates Mastery

Complete all crates tasks

• Evade all TNT crates against Ripper Roo boss battle;
• Hop a TNT crate off your head 50 times;
• Hop a TNT crate and drop it on an adversary;
• A TNT you dropped knocked out, at least, two players simultaneously 25 times; 
• Use 100 NITRO crates;
• Drop at least 5 NITRO crates in a single race, hitting one player per crate dropped.

 

 

 Beakers Mastery

Complete all beakers tasks

Spoiler

 

• Evade all beakers against Papu Papu boss battle; 
• Throw and hit any opponent in front of you 100 times;
• Throw and hit any opponent in front of you with a "Long shot" 25 times;
• Hide a beaker inside a Wumpa Crate 100 times;
• Drive against your own beaker after finishing a race;

 

 

 Tracking Missiles Mastery

Complete all missiles tasks

• Hit an opponent by launching a missile backwards 10 times;  
• Hit every adversary with a missile in a single race (boss battles not included);
• Evade 100 tracking missiles;
• Lure a tracking missile against another player.

 

 

 Bowling Bombs Mastery

Complete all bombs tasks

• Evade all bowling bombs against Pinstripe boss battle;
• Use bowling bombs against another power-up 100 times;
• Get a "Long shot" 25 times;
• Hit any opponent behind you 100 times;
• Detonate a bowling bomb and hit two adversaries 10 times.

 

 

 Turbo Mastery

Complete all turbo tasks

Spoiler

 

• Complete a full lap without breaking the turbo counter;
• Perform 50 consecutive boosts on any track (Crash Nitro Kart style);
• Use the Turbo power-up to run over a player 25 times;

 

 

 Extra Arsenal Mastery

Complete all extra arsenal tasks

• Make your way to the first place after knocking out every adversary with the Warp Orb;
• Use the N. Trophy's Clock to spin any opponent off tracks 25 times;
• Use Aku-Aku/Uka-Uka Mask for 20 consecutive seconds.
• In first place, use any Mask to protect you from a Warp Orb;
• Use your Shield to protect you from 100 items;
• Finish any race in first place without breaking any item crate.

 

 

 Nostalgia Mastery

Complete all progress tasks

• Gather a total of 1.000 Wumpa fruits;
• Perform a full turbo boost by power-sliding 250 times;
• Drive 150km;
• Use 1.000 items;
• Drop 250 items mid-air.

 

 

 Track Mastery

Complete all tracks tasks

Must be done in Adventure Mode

 

Crash Cove: Park your Kart on the pirate ship.

Roo's Tubes: (...)

Mystery Caves: Use any weapon to knock an opponent into the pit of fire.

Sewer Speedway: use the shortcut in every lap;

Coco's Park: Play Marco Polo in the lake

Tiger Temple: Use a beaker to open the shortcut door;

Papu's Pyramid: jump from the wall to the finish line;

Dingo Canyon: Complete a race without touching the walls.

Blizzard Bluff: Use all 3 shortcuts in one single lap.

Dragon Mines: Use the rail track from the tunnel until the end without being hit by the rail kart;

Polar's Pass: Drive against two seals in a row.

Tiny Arena: Complete a full lap without touching the mud.

N. Gin Labs: Successfully jump over one of the square holes, near the end of the track.

Cortex Castle: Touch every spider in the castle and win the race.

Hot Air Skyway: Win a race without using turbo pads nor turbo boost while power sliding;

Oxide Station: Use your arsenal to send 3 opponents to outer space.

Slide Coliseum: Win a race without power-sliding and without hopping (real kart racing simulator )

 

 

 

 Time Mastery

Complete all relics tasks

Spoiler

 

• Earn all relics with gold or better;
• Complete a time trial breaking all the boxes;
• Break all crates in Relic Challenges with, at least, a sapphire time. 

 

 

 Token Mastery

Complete all CTR tokens tasks

• Collect CTR letters in that order, on any track;
• Collect only one letter per lap, on any track;
• Complete every Purple Token arena without taking damage;
• Finish in first place on the Purple Gem Tournament without using shortcuts;
• Collect all CTR tokens in the game.

Unlock the scrapbook (beat all Oxide's time trials)

Finish a race with 90% accuracy.

Overtake the last place opponent while in first place

Not that I like online trophies, but as long as they are simply “play” and not “win”, I don’t mind. At least these are easy to boost also  a lot of people begged for online service, it most likely will have more online trophies than these :\

If the platinum rarity is the point, I really think that unlock the scrapbook (beating all Oxide’s ghost times) are hard enough. Plus, completing any game with local friends isn’t “common” either. Check Sonic Transformed (PS3), both similar trophies are at the top rarer and you don’t have online trophies in the game - except win one race online;

It’s one of the gold trophies. I just put the 4 types of characters cause, well, it would be boring to play twice with no difference between characters. Still... 4 times like I suggested...

My brief summary of what I'd like to see:

 

1) 100% of everything in the main adventure mode

2) Beat all the time trial times

3) Something for the online, perhaps 50 wins or something simple like that

 

I do like the ideas you bring up from Blur, I thought those were really cool in that game, would be fitting here.

Just the "Friends local Trophy i don't like" if you need extra dualshocks etc... Almoast none will get the platinum.

I'd rather online trophies than split screen trophies, any day of the week, regardless of the game in question. I change my mind though, I hope there is a trophy like play 2000 races or something ridiculous, I'll be playing this to death anyway, I'll at least want a trophy on my way there, too. I think 'play' trophies are better than 'win' trophies regarding online though.

That's why I opened this thread, I would like to see what kind of trophies you would like to see in the trophy list.

Penta Penguin shouldn't be unlockable through cheat codes, but only from beating all the N. Oxide time trials. Sucks that they are giving out Oxide in the deluxe edition.. Should've only been unlocked through something ingame

I just hope that we need to beat N. Oxide on all time trials/unlock scrapbook as that was the only challenge in CTR. Nice trophylist, but no local coop or online trophies please.

Well, they have to pay 20€ for a character that you unlock in the game and some exclusive stuff... It's kinda high priced for that, so... pay to win (earlier), I guess   

 

Edit: Penta Penguin is overpowered in the PAL version only. In the NTSC version, it is similar to Pura, Polar and Ripper Roo.

Since it’s the first person that shares his list here, I appreciate your support

 

My thoughts about this list:

1. It’s impossible to have so many points for a game unless it has DLC’s. Just 10 gold trophies and the platinum itself are worth a full trophy list (1.080 points).

2. I don’t think each boss should have a gold trophy. You just need to win 4 races and the boss battle to get a Gold, though you need to race 20 tracks to get a bronze on arcade mode OR get all 18 relics and get a silver?

3. Personally, I hate trophies that involve “failing”, unless they actually have something new when it happens (like Crash 2, quit a level 3 times to get different cutscenes). Though, being getting crushed by a boulder or a barrel are natural failures during a race that shouldn’t grant you any trophy.

 

Edit: there are no Dingos in Dingo Canyon  it’s “Dingodile” track; those creatures are armadillos

Yes, that’s the thing  I would like to see some ideas for trophies, things that people actually want to see  I’m admired that people want online trophies, but I’m disappointed that almost nobody gave a suggestion of what trophies they would like to see...

 

There are a lot of ideas for this, most of them won’t make to the final version, but we might guess some  I’ve been editing this trophy list after published because I found new other things while playing the game again, involving skill and some luck... more then just the cliche 101% list and time trials... the tracks, weapons and gameplay are rich and full of things to do that I would be interesting to be explored in trophy lists

Ok so I just spent time tweaking the list making it shorter by getting rid of pointless trophies and fleshing out some others that were too easy and adding some new ones also swapping silver trophies for bronze ETC so this is what I'd like to see trophy wise
